Well since the livestream didn’t work… here we are! What a breath of fresh air for the band this album was. Dark, moody, creative, and introspective…. All hallmarks of Opeth and they are on full display here in their full glory not held back by genre conventions and expectations of screaming. This shows that there is so much more to their music than just being heavy. The darkness and primal energy that Opeth gnaws at is just chicken noodle soup for the soul when you need it. This was wonderful.

All donations and tips that come from you, go into my daughters college fund and a fund for channel equipment. I created this channel for her so she has videos of her father talking and doing something he enjoys(listening to music and talking about it) since I don’t have any of those of my father. I decided that all funds that might come from this will go to her as well :) thank you again for your generosity guys, I appreciate you all more then you will ever know.
Your name will be added to the Thank you supporters’ video that plays at the end of every video and you get to pick a video for me to react to. Thank you so much!! If you donate and pick a song, I will get to it in under 24 hours!

Hey bro!! Imagine how sad he was doing this album, he sure did have some sadness to share with us, its straight out that pocket, but in the good way, love the album, its very well produced, not many bands could make such a sad album, and make it a banger..

After making "Blackwater Park", Mikael had a ton of Ideas for mellow songs and kind of didnt know where to put them. "Deliverance&Damnation" was supposed to be a double album, but you know .... the record company didnt really like that idea, so it was split into 2 seperate albums, and "Damnation" was released a few months after "Deliverance"

And regarding something you mentioned in another video about branching out, do it man! These things are great but you have so much art in you it's just ridiculous. Would easily tag along with whatever else you're glancing at doing ✌ Peace man

I don’t want to give away the surprise. 😂🎉 And yes this album was fantastic I really enjoyed it. Darkness is your friend, just like the light. You have to find a healthy balance. Imagine.... Steven Wilson produced this 🙂 Such a wonderful, wonderful album! Happy you enjoyed it! Also, the 70's prog band Camel's music was a great inspiration for this album. Most prevalent in lots of guitar stuff and e.g. the whole track Ending Credits.

This album isn't among my favorites simply because I prefer their metal stuff, but this is still a masterclass in musicianship and composition. I realize not much can really live up to watershed, but all their albums deserve a fair listen-through

I thought this was awesome too (even though I prefer the watershed/BWP/GR sound) but wow; so much emotion and just… nothingness? Blank? Idk what the word is. It almost feels like your stuck in an elevator that never opens.

The quality of music recorded live really comes down to how good the engineers doing the recording are and how well they do the mix. Unlike a studio setting, you get one chance to do it right. Some bands seem to have it figured out, some seem to have no clue. This version is much better, I actually thing they may have had a mic failure on the live version since the drums were so flat and may have been only being picked up by other mics. As far as the music, certainly not their normal. This is an album for late night melancholy when you are just trying to figure out where things went wrong, almost soft doom metal. This is not something I will listen to very often, but is a good reserve for those certain nights when the normal doom/death metal is just a little too much. Thanks for taking the time to create this long ass bastard of a review (thanks to Arjen for the inspiration). keep rocking.

your right! it's one of those albums you pull out when you really need to let something out or go. it's almost like a ritual or a mediation track. it really allows you to really take a moment and look at whats bothering and you and try to deal with it. at least that's how i felt lol
