Interesting video Sam. Is that thermal board you used upstairs in the bedroom fire retartant? I liked what you done with the basement. It was good that you explained about the wall foundation or lack of. If that chimney breast goes all the way up the house you could punch a hole in the underside and then on the top of the house chimney outside fit a spinning metal cowl. Like those on a factory roof. This will suck air out of the basement and with all those airbrick/vents fresh air will come in. Then rockwool and plasterboard the ceiling of that basement for warmth and to meet fire regs. I have watched a few of your KZbin videos today and really enjoyed them. I have now subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work.

I’m surprised you’re not on the telly Simon. Thanks for your expertise, all presented with a genuine Barnsley accent which is great to hear with me coming from up’t North as well, but only from that there Leeds. Rainwater is getting into the bottom of my house wall. The neighbour has made a nearly impossible to access void at the side of my house when he built his new extension. There is supposed to be a drain there for the rainwater to soak away but can’t see anything due to the rubble his builders left on the void floor. Neighbour won't talk to me. My house is 120 years old and the house side is old brick cemented? over. Is there anything that can be done from my house interior? Thanks for your time.

Without a site visit it’s hard to say but you do have the right to maintain your property from the neighbouring side in the party wall act by law so look into that

great video again sam ! when you use the dryrod system for rising damp around a return wall your horizontal rods will follow the wall around the damp area but where do put the the rods going up the wall ? thankyou
