Three sets of ten and then go get a drink of water is not his type of workout. Is that ok? there are different approaches to fitness. Bodybuilding, powerlifting, olympic lifting, monostructural endurance training, crossfit, etc. Dan just so happens to train and compete in the crossfit sector. Which encompasses training methods from all of these.

@Dr.leethechiro4 жыл бұрын
I mean I get it, they look funny! but workouts like this one isn't about strict capacity. If we defined what a pull-up, we'd say that the arms must be locked out at the bottom, and the chin must come over the bar. In every rep, he does this. You still accomplish this with butterfly pull-ups, it's just the momentum of the swing that throws anyone off (rightfully so at first glance, I used to talk SO much shit about this). But I can guarantee you, Dan can pump out 25+ strict pull-ups easily. It's just not the stimulus they are going for right here. Also, butterfly pull-ups are using the full body to "kip" swing. Just how an oly lifter uses his hips to dip and explode with a push jerk/push press/split jerk. Same concept. OBVIOUSLY they cannot strict press as much as they can push press/push jerk/split jerk. But they are using their entire body to help them lift the weight. Same principle.

Your run technique is better than most, but if you tweak ever so slightly and get rid of your overstride and heel strike your running will become even more phenomenal than it already is. Yes you are fast no doubt. A better stride will help you stay injury free and use less energy to run even faster. Watch your run in slow-mo, especially around the :19 second mark. He is in amazing shape! I watch crossfit and try to follow the program, how it works and such. What escapes me is how folks get in the shape they are in by following a WOD. They develop such mass and strength. That takes dedicated, regimented strength training as well as augmented training for development. Maybe less is more for them or the WOD seven days a week or do they do additional training besides the WOD. ????

is it just me or does that style of pullup seem like its 60-70% momentum and swinging of the legs and not arm and back strength?
@Marco-eb4hm8 жыл бұрын
ComputerUser321 thats right...crossfit isnt bodybuilding. its a battle....real sport
@autoparts3218 жыл бұрын
Ok, but it definitely looks weird and as a form of cheating IMO, likely they cannot do as many straight pullups. As far as being more athletic, I can see that, however I did see a video here on KZbin where a body builder out performed 2-3 Cross Fit guys and other Pro Atheletes, (Football, etc) which ARE REAL SPORTS too... so I would not immediately be willing to believe that crossfit is the only way to gain GREAT PHYSICAL FITNESS.
@Marco-eb4hm8 жыл бұрын
Butterfly or kipping pull ups are different excercise than regular pull ups. like normal press or push press. it is to get more reps in shorter time for a competition. thats all. to gain more muscle it´s not the best, but thats not the goal. crossfit is for over all fitness.

I had to do something similar when I started training with my trainer and that first time was soooo exhausting...then after the third time doing cross fit workouts, it became fun. Had to do seven rounds of every workout. Wanted to quit the first time

Yes. Come on. It’s fine and not a big deal but yea. The better he looks the more hits he gets. The drugs help with that. He wouldn’t be able to compete with the other juice heads out on you tube otherwise.

Can somebody tell me why Crossfit does pullups in a stranger fashion than what gym bros consider "normal"? Not trying to hate, just trying to understand why they would do that.
@treemustach8 жыл бұрын
Are you telling me that gym bro pullups are essentially slower pullups than Crossfit pullups? I don't really understand the analogy. Sorry.
@josephpercy87728 жыл бұрын
+treemustach Apparently it's more cardio based than actual pullups, a way to bang out the reps in a short time more efficiently. I wouldn't recommend doing these in place of normal pullups, because they won't make you stronger.
@chris123chris828 жыл бұрын
treemustach butterfly pulls up are used in gymnastics, in crossfit you cross train. So like Olympic weightlifting, swim, run, gymnastics. I hope that helped
@TheJelloSlapper8 жыл бұрын
Crossfit trains "stict/gym bro" pull-ups. In order to do the butterfly style, you still require all the strength of the strict pull up. Just like in order to run, you still need to know how to walk. Yes they are different movements, however you need the ability to do one to do the other.
@royalvic44468 жыл бұрын
Hahaha I though the same thing when I watched my first CrossFit video then when I went on a deployment one of the guys i shared rooms with was a coach. He explained to me that CrossFit movements are supposed to replicate movements we perform each day or movements that help us in our everyday lives. Again this is what I was told but it makes since to me. I don’t know what you do for a career and I have thought about what situation the kip pullups could use for but let’s say you are a fire fighter in NY and you need to get onto one of those stationary ladders on a side of a building. You can jump up and grab it but then you find yourself in a situation where you can do a strict pull up or a kip pull up to get enough momentum to grab the next step and pull yourself up. With all the gear you have on what do you think will benefit you more a kipping or a standard pullup. Now I know we are all not trying to climb ladders and I’m sure the small minded people will see it that way but this is how it was explained to me

Great video!! Thanks for motivation! It is really interesting of how athletes feel during workout. It helps to understand how to do it right! And how strong you have to be! Do crossfit athletes have a day for a muscle workout, or you have all of this gains from intensive workouts?
