Back in the 90s I was on a flight to Chicago and I left my seat to walk up to the restroom. When I open the door to the restroom to exit I was of course facing all of the passengers and right there in the front row against the window was Dan. He was wearing a hat. We made eye contact and I was looking right in those unmistakable big eyes of his. a slight smile started to appear on my face. I couldn’t help it. Yes he looked at me it was as if he was saying to me telepathically, don’t do it don’t do it. I just had this feeling it would be best to leave him alone and I walked right past him I’ll never forget it. One thing that did surprise me though was I always had this impression he was a taller man but he seemed a bit smaller in stature. May he rest in peace

I was actually at this concert! The best musical artist ever in my opinion. And this song will always mean more to me than I can ever say in words. Dan was always best at singing my feelings, and he still is. I miss him. Rest in peace Dan. Your legacy lives on!

I know you posted this 15 years ago-and you probably won’t see this-but thank you SO much for this channel. I like so many others have been a fan since the beginning. My best friends college age brother brought Home Free home after finding it in the sales bin in 1973. He went to U of I and had seen Dan playing there and around the Chicago Area where we lived. I borrowed that album and listened to it non-stop. It changed my life. No other artist has had the impact of Dan Fogelberg for me. Each of his records altered the molecules in my world. Thank you Tim for these videos. I inly got to see Dan live once and it was incredible!❤

I was 13 yo hanging out in my neighbor Terry's (bass player & band technician) basement watching The Coachmen practice. A new singer had joined the band. He was from across town, a singer with The Squids. It was Danny. My sister's boyfriend was the lead-guitar player. I was lucky. I got to watch those guys every week. Dan started making demos right there in Terry's basement. Gave me goosebumps when Dan really opened up. Before we knew it he was off to Nashville with Irving to start his remarkable career. Hard to believe that was 52 yrs ago. Good times.

this song, and the rest of the captured angel album was part of my first great lost love...i almost lost my mind over it...and who knows if not for this music to make sense of it maybe i would have....you look back on life sometimes and wonder, wait, what happened to my life, what happened to me, to that love, to who we were, how can it be gone...

I was introduced to DF by my HS girlfriend, with the Phoenix record. I immediately went back and bought every record prior: Home Free, Captured Angel, and Twin Sons (at the time…that’s all there were). DF became my guitar instructor, and a HUGE influence on how I play and what I’ve written, both lyrically and musically. Was blessed to see him multiple times, both solo and with a band. The best ones were solo…20,000 people singing as a choir to one guy with an acoustic guitar. The sheer power of that was incredible. Let it shine….

My very fave of his. Brings me to tears, every time. Hits waaay too close to home. As does ‘Be On Your Way’... 😔 He played both too few times in his shows. But never failed to make me cry in public when he did. Even in front of my ex fiancé, when I made sure he saw Dan live during this same, 25th Ann tour. Where I wore a T from an early 70s show. He played both songs & I couldn’t contain my heartache at the loss of the LOML in front of him. He was the closest I came, but he knew he wasn’t ‘the one’. Needless to say, we didn’t get married. We’re still friends, however. Just saw him again yesterday. But haven’t seen the LOML in 37yrs. He was an acoustic guitar musician too. And how we met. He was singing Dan’s songs. And others. You never forget the one that got away...💔 And Dan put everything into words like no other. I hope he’s at peace.💙

I am very grateful to be able to watch this video, to hear him do this song live. Dan was an extremely talented singer; a truly gifted songwriter and musician. I so love hearing his older songs done in more recent times...there was a maturity to his voice, a deeper resonance (vocally and emotionally) that completes the journey of the song, from the soul of the artist to the souls of all who have been blessed enough to hear him.

What an amazing talent this man is, one of the greatest lyricists and musicians of all time and the voice of an angel. Fogelberg inspired me to take up,acoustic guitar after playing bass guitar in younger days. For a long time I played nothing but his music. I was sincerely saddened by his death but lucky enough to,see him live 4-5 times. He played with many of the greatest, joe Walsh, Don Henley, glen frey,, graham nash, Steven stills, David Crosby, and played and harmonized on each other's records. His music lives on and has lasting quality and always will. So under-rated. He is missed greatly. I am proud to be a lifelong fan.

years after teaching myself the basics of playing an acoustic guitar, I taught myself how to "really" play the instrument by listening to, and playing along with Dan (and Ian Anderson and Justin Hayward) - I went on to write enough songs to fill an album but never took it any further - I was happy with what I had done and I realized that I didn't need to be a star - we had Dan!

She didn't say she loved the man, but what suprised me the most, was that even though I always thought it would, the offer no longer stands. Not that she asked, or even that she would, but I can't tell you, how good it was to go home and play this song, with NO heartache! I am so luck to have seen him "live", many times! (lucky

Dan lived his life completely and compassionately and was just simply a down to earth good person. Amazing talent, great song writer and guitar skills to boot.
