I really miss Dan Osman He was a rock and roll climber
@Sixtorrhapsody14 жыл бұрын
The official examination concluded that the ropes he used during the "controlled free fall" entangled because of an altered jump angle and that they had also been exposed to severe weather conditions the month before. Actually he did several jumps before the fatal one with no problems.

@Bdazz111 yes some of it in vegas some in Utah. The face climb on the arete is call caustic 5.11 it is a sandy mother,proud solo. I fell on the route to the left going to the anchors and hot the ground suffering a broken back, tailbone, pelvis, and both legs. Great video, Dan was an amazing man and part of his jump that went so wrong was the way the rope ran over each other from the different local of the jump site. Caused heat and then break.

Amazing! I'm not a climber but I have a question for anyone here who is. How do these free-climbers get down once they've reached the top of one of these rocks? Do they have to back-track the way they came up or is there usually an easier way dawn with ropes that they can go down? I'd imagine you'd be pretty tired once you got up, and not up for the task of climbing backwards, which I understand is the most difficult and dangerous type of climbing. Any serious answers really appriciated! Thanks

@Viggowildman they will usually either base jump down, or there might be easier descent via trail, and i have heard of people taking a copter down but the two previous methods are the ones i usually see used

Possibly the two best climper in all time. One is still alive, and the other one, not so lucky. Sadly. Climbing with no safety is madness and if I'll do it one day, I see myself up in the extreme hights. God i'm tired, fuck then im dead!
@AcousticFingerStyle113 жыл бұрын
@bleedingxhearts2 usually you climb up one face and then hike down an alternate path. This is what we typically do when we climb trad on a pretty tall face to get back down.

@Viggowildman they probably have ropes you just cant see them. the camera men are at the same height and probably hanging from ropes maybe they ride back down on the same rope idk if thats possible
@funetiks13 жыл бұрын
@dchqsc If someone says chalk is cheating, then so are ropes and harnesses and shoes. Chalk is a climbing safety tool. I agree with you fully, and anyone who has climbed once knows chalk is neccessary.
@kilgour2213 жыл бұрын
@GroovyPiano Most free climbers will self belay down. The normal climber will normally abseil down or rappel down. what they are doing is solo climbing, and soloers will either climb down an easier route, or with no other choice, will just downclimb the way they came up.

@ltdex400guitarist Climbing naked (with no clothes does go without saying) with your man parts as a compass, rope, harness and shoes... Iron will is your chalk, and to decend... your ego infaltes to safely bring you an altitude appropriate for your dreams to fly you home. I understand.

I wonder how Alain Robert compares with Alex Honnold ...equals?
@Squids_Vlogs10 жыл бұрын
i dont think hes soloed any rock climbs above 1000 feet, hes noted that climbing buildings is more safer than climbing rock, hes no where near alex honnold with rock climbing
@akseli910 жыл бұрын
Alain Robert used to free solo very unsafe routes, very close to his level of climbing with protection, closer than Alex Honnold. He also more than Alex Honnold, was always climbing new routes with the idea of finally free soloing them later when he'd learned them. In the late 80s and early 90s, Alain Robert was one of the few very best rock climbers, just like Alex Honnold is today. However, Robert belongs more to the "daredevil kind", used to climb with Dan Osman etc, whereas Honnold would be more a reasonable and an "adventure climber".
@dzv3r09 жыл бұрын
WeBeChillin420 Robert said that climbing buildings is sometimes harder because the moves are qute the same and you are using a limitet groups of mucles, while on the rock face you are using more muscle groups
@williamnicolas1228 жыл бұрын
+WeBeChillin420 that's a bold statement coming from incomplete information. This man pretty much free soloed the whole gorge du verdon. I love Alex but I think Alain free solos harder routes, routes in which he is not even in his comfort zone. But as Alain says, we shouldn't be putting them in competition, they are both very talented climbers who have put a lot of work into it.
@Squids_Vlogs8 жыл бұрын
William Nicolas no no no we need to have competition. compete to the death!
