So I’ve mentioned a while ago on Twitter that I’ve been wanting to do documentary style of videos on one specific topic without having to center a list around it. And this is one of them :) Most of them will be spooky and dark, featuring old 2015 conspiracy-minded blameitonjorge (for you veteran viewers out there) Don’t worry, I’m still making list videos. In fact, next week’s video will be a return to format. But I might throw in a mini documentary here or there on one specific topic. Here are some documentary ideas: Ratafak Platcha Peppermint Park: History of the World’s Strangest Puppet Show Sesame Street: The Episodes You’re Not Allowed To See Gloomy Sunday: The Song That Kills Anyways, let me know what you think of this. I had a lot of fun editing this video and it’s nice to sort of extend my horizon a little.

Jorge, I want to thank you for being one of the first big KZbinrs to cover Dan Schneider all those years ago. Back then, outside of celebrity gossip forums, many people were afraid to come out and air their concerns about Dan Schneider so publicly on KZbin or in the media. Dan was known to send cease and desists. This video really helped to bring Dan Schneider's behavior into mainstream attention. I'm so glad the survivors have been given a space to share their truth.

@@Ms-K-w2x because there’s theatric value to having kids in creative works. Can’t have a Brady Bunch, Modern Family or Full House without the kids and expect it to have success. I kept on thinking about this video while watching the Quiet On Set documentary. I remember watching this when it came out 5 years ago and only now is this stuff really reaching the mainstream with definitive testimonies against Dan and his work environment. Crazy how ahead of the curve this video was and how accurate it was. Also the newfound information that the kid Brian Peck assaulted being Drake Bell is insane (I thought it was likely an extra or actor who played a minor character) and everything in the video lines up with what the documentary said. I think this video probably helped push the filmmakers to make the documentary, as it brought awareness to the situation and made sure that the bombshells dropped in the documentary werent so unexpected that people would immediately dismiss the victims. You did a really good thing Jorge. Great job.

@@siqxyre8473 while what you said has absolute merit about kids not telling their parents (and I absolutely agree), some children do, but parents dismiss their claims half the time (I say this mainly because they're some parents that are too motivated by greed and money and a lavish life) as well as, like you said, these people bribe or threaten the children with such threats like telling him/her won't become a well known celebrity or won't get much money (I think thats personally the most 'effective' threat these people use). Sometimes these disgusting parents will tell the kids "How are we going to live like this?" regarding the lavish lifestyle. My mentality to that question would be to give the parents a newspaper and pen saying "If *you* want a life *that* bad find a job to pay for it"
@RabuHina6 жыл бұрын
No doubt. I think its because the parents were wannabe actors/actresses/singers etc and failed, and so force their kids to take acting/music lessons and when good enough throw them in (for a lack of a better word) the devils hole and no matter how much their children suffer, all they see are dollar signs along with being able to quit their job, get fancy cars, extravagant houses and all the stuff with living a life of great luxury
@RabuHina6 жыл бұрын
@@JewelHeartLocket thanks for pointing that out. Sometimes when I hear of children in this line of work, it's always accompanied these things (parents) called stage parents who always force their child into this line of work, mainly due to them being failed actors/actresses and want to live a life of great luxury and wealth through their child. I also agree that some of these children go in willingly with (I hope) genuine support of the parents and are unfortunately caught up in these awful situations of being molested and threatened, either by having their dreams taken away or having their whole family "disappear" (which wouldn't exactly surprise me when you think about how many powerful people are in Hollywood). But you are right that not all parents are like what I stated above as I do agree with you (it just irritates me that some parents would allow their child to suffer for the sake of extravagant luxury and wealth). Again thanks for pointing that out :)

It's not just the entertainment industry. I see the same thing happen in professional sports as well. Athletes still allowed to compete despite the wide range of crimes that are committed which should have resulted in them being kicked out of organizations/leagues and rotting in prison. And then, there are the business owners. Many business owners throughout the past 100 years or so have committed acts such as SA, embezzlement, fraud, and tax evasion among other crimes to keep those beneath them in line. To show everyone else that they have control over those around them, and flash bribe money to keep everyone from speaking out. I have read stories about these kinds of business owners, and it makes me sick to my stomach how popular people can get away with anything while people who look to seek justice always end up imprisoned or killed. It shows that we need to change the "culture" that has existed for so long.

The decline in views is an interesting point, and while that may have been the reason for him being fired it would be interesting to look at other Nickelodeon shows that premiered during the same time period and compare the views. Kids today don't seem to watch as much TV as they did when iCarly premiered, and I suspect that views may be down for the channel as a whole, not just for Dan Schneider's shows.
@toms.a.savage72326 жыл бұрын
That is pretty logical considering television as a medium is dying because of the internet. TV will be around, but it won't reach its stride like in the 60s-90s.
@Lauren_2106 жыл бұрын
Megan Weller That seems to be the case. I was 11 years old when iCarly premiered and it was pretty big at the time when I got to experience watching the show as a kid (shows like this and Hannah Montana coming out a year prior were very successful for children sitcoms and I was in that exact age range those shows were aimed at). I remember the mid-late 2000s being a time where I would hear many kids my age talking about shows like these and this was also around the time when KZbin was just starting out, so you can imagine how much of a difference the website changed over the past 12-13 years and that kids were still watching their shows and cartoons through TV while YT was in its early years. Looking back, it seems like iCarly was ahead of its time when it came to showcasing the internet/KZbin/social media culture.
@sugarveins6 жыл бұрын
Lauren210 youtube was still pretty 'big' just wasn't as big as it is now, i remember when ICarly a collab with fred who, at the time, was one of the first channels to reach 1 mil subs on youtube---like, ever. Though compare that to now where 1 mil subs is more common ( amongst popular youtubers, of course. ) I guess it would be better to describe it as: youtube wasn't /as/ mainstream as it is now, but now that it is combined with the fact that we have companies like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc, making their own content, it's just no big surprise TV isn't doing as well anymore these days.

This may be an older video but I will say this, As of writing this comment (August 7th, 2022), Jennette McCurdy who starred on iCarly is releasing a memoir in a few days (August 9th, 2022) In the memoir, She speaks about the years of mental health and other issues during her time with Nickelodeon and acting. She refers to someone by the alias of "The Creator" when it comes to the nick sections and the only shows I'm aware of that she worked on at Nickelodeon, were both created by Dan Schneider. This may be a major break through in who Dan really is. I highly recommend reading it when it is released.

I find it so ironic that they immediately cancelled Zoey101 when JS got preggers at 16. All because they didn't want to deal with the controversy. But, they hire/rehire people that have been charged, found guilty of, and served prison time for pedophilia and other sexual assaults. And, don't give the controversy about that a 2nd thought?!?!?
