This performance by Dan is stage worthy. In my opinion, Dans voice is right up there with the best opera singers. It’s hard to believe that he recorded this in his garage, no high tech recording studio and no professional orchestra. His talent is just amazing! Many thanks for reacting to this one!

This song is very special to Dan. Hence the emotion. His Father(Passed in 2017) and Dan would listen to Pavoratti while in the car. His Father loved Pavoratti and Elvis. Dan's Father died before he got to see Dan accomplice his dream of becoming a KZbin sensation.. This song gets me every time I hear Dan sing it.

Conquering those demons are what made him the man he is today, but those of us who have suffered depression know the beast is always lurking, waiting for weakness to show. His tears are real and have to do with his beloved father who passed away. He shared his love of opera from the time Dan was little. I read a comment on X about Dan’s ability to sing opera. All one lady could say was “please don’t “ and continued to criticize him along with one other man. Complete snob and snark. He it’s brilliant and I consider him a gift to us.

If those "critics" were opera singers, I'd love to see/hear them pull off a song that is as difficult to sing on a good day, while fighting off genuine emotion and real tears. I believe this was his first recording of an operatic piece since his father had passed a few months before and opera was a passion that they'd shared since Dan was very young. I'm not a singer, but I often have difficulty even speaking when I'm very emotional. To do such an incredible job in the state that he was in at the time, shows just how amazing Dan is. Those people just sound bitter and possibly even jealous.

Per his own discussion about this song, he was very much moved to tears as he was thinking about his father while singing this song. His father had recently passed away when he did this recording.

This rendition moves me beyond what words can describe. Dan is able to bring heaven to earth to our ears, but also to our hearts, which also causes the soul to be deeply moved. Opera Dan is a beautiful thing to behold & is fully displayed in his version of Nessun Dorma. Gives me goosebumps from head to toes every time I hear this. His paternal side is Italian, and he actually stated recently that he's learning Italian. If you love Nessun Dorma, you'll also love Dan's duet w/Alina Leznik doing Bocelli's and Brightman's "Time to Say Goodbye". His Phantom of the Opera covers are amazing, too: "Phantom of the Opera" duet w/Dragica, "All I Ask of You" w/Alina Leznik, and DEFINITELY ... "Music of the Night". Then, of course, there's Dan's other stage worthy performance of "Gethsemane" from the Jesus Christ Superstar rock opera. No matter where you stand on the actual scriptural issues with the song, there's no way to deny the fact that Dan's performance of "Gethsemane" is stellar both vocally & theatrically. The man is a treasure trove of musical ability. Thank you for your great reaction & and in-depth vocal analysis, which only gives more reason to admire him.

Dan sings this with the emotion that this requires. a very emotional song, a love song in my 70 years I have heard so many Great Tenors sing this.. Dan is up there amongst them, one little thing always bugs me.. the very last O Dan sings it too open, not the full O shape of mouth hardly noticeable but I did and now I cannot un notice it...Great reaction Thank you so much.

I was raised on classical music & have heard a lot of professional opera singers & I must say Dan can hold his own with any of them. We'll done Dan. Dan just oozes talent!

Dan has talked about, how his father loved this song, and how they used to listen to that and other opera songs when going on roadtrips in the car, and that his greatest sorrow is, that his father died never having seen his son succeed. So it's easy to imagine, and very visible to see exactly what he was feeling performing this song 6 months after his father passed. I believe he sang that last extra climax, that last 'vincero' (i will win), for his father, and not just to show off.

I believe i heard in an interview that he did the crescendo 2x ...once because its called for, and the second time for his father, who loved this piece of music. This was made about the time of his father's passing from cancer.

Dans mostly italian. Dans songs are "lip synced" he records in his studio, he then re performs/sings the song for the video portion. He says were he records his video isn't suited for audio recording, but what you are watching is him actually singing. Your watching a "live" recording but your hearing a studio recorded song. Not sure of anyone else that does it that way. His cover of "angels we have heard on high" is another great operatic style of song. I would recommend checking out some of his Manowar stuff though. He's working in a tribute album for Manowar that's how much they have inspired his style. "Black wind fire and steel" is a very very impressive feat of vocal strength by dan

If there's a "popular" style of music that is good training for opera, that is power metal. Pushing out high notes for up to two hours, over huge instrumentals, with extra abdominal pressure to be able to get the distortion, that will develop some stamina...

My grandson (a treble) put me on to your channel, which I am enjoying greatly. Never having had a woman voice coach, I was particularly interested in your perspective. I was fortunate in having a voice which effectively paid for my schooling, being a Westminster Abbey chorister and later a soloist. In this context I'd love to hear your analysis of Cormac Thompson (perhaps Empty Chairs to begin). Even though my range has deteriorated now that I'm past 75, I love to see gifted young singers. Here, Jacob Collier has bown me away. His live at Mahogany video of his composition Little Blue is just amazing. Please keep up your great channel. The four of my grandsons who sing much enjoy your take on music, as does my youngest son, now in a jazz/rock band at uni. Btw, don't ignore us "oldies".
