Five years ago when Dan recorded this, he was in his garage with a plain black backdrop and a older style microphone. How he made this sound so good is just amazing. Since then, he has built a proper recording studio and has upgraded his mic. Talent beyond belief. I recommend you watch him sing Music of the Night from phantom of the opera. It’s like watching an opera. I am sure you will be impressed. Thanks for the reaction.

You are correct and I should have clarified that. After reading what I wrote, it sounds like he built something off site. Sorry! Dan was a guest on another channel and said he finally got his studio the way he wanted. He did something to the walls, got new lighting and additional cameras and upgraded his mic. Sometimes I write in a hurry and I don’t take the time to read what I wrote!

Only three people I've ever heard sing this properly in my life. My brother, Pavarotti, and now, Dan Vasc. Speaking from personal experience having trained and sung duet with my brother, this song is insanely difficult to land properly. There is so much emotion that needs to be conveyed, so much power to give to the voice. Dan ticked so many "yes" boxes and NAILED this song. Listening to this version, I can close my eyes and imagine that final performance me and my brother did, and it brings joy to my heart in that memory. Dan Vasc, just, yes.

My sister is a retired Viennese operatic singer. When I introduced her to Dan Vasc (one of his metal covers), her immediate response was he had some operatic training (true operatic training requires at least a decade of training to achieve diaphragm control to perform true vibrato & to literally scream a song without a microphone to a theater). Her comment was based upon his posture, breath & voice control, and intelligence on vowel & consonant pronunciation to achieve the best sound.

I listen with my eyes closed, it makes it so much more special.. His late Father was Italian and never got to see Dan as he has progressed with his music.. Dan is quite emotional whilst singing this, rightly so, it is a beautiful love song.. but I wonder if he was doing this for his late Father too. Great reaction and nice to have you back.. I hope you also find more Dan covers to react to, so many genres to choose from and always a little Dan surprise hidden in each one

The gift that is Dan Vasc is his ability to draw people from one genre to another. Not a fan of opera or heavy metal, but I love listening to all genres of music through this man's voice. Thanks for the knowledgeable and appreciative analysis. I’m a passionate opera fan and have just discovered Dan (through Amazing Grace, which astonished me.) I think his voice is glorious, and his Nessun 12:34 Dorma more than respectable. Very impressive guy! I suggest you try Angels We Have Heard on High. In the 3rd verse he’s “backed” by a male choir - all him 😊. I love that he so obviously loves to sing.

I have always loved Pavarotti and was fortunate to have been able to see him perform in person while living in Houston in the early 90's which was a "bucket list" thing for sure with no regrets except that I wish it were possible to do again. I love Andrea Bocelli, as well, but Pavarotti was still the king of this song for me. Dan's version of this song is so unbelievably good it gave me chills. I was absolutely blown away. Amazing Grace introduced me & drew me in, O Holy Night shook me up & intrigued me to search other songs, and then I discovered his Nessun Dorma and I was toast. I have taken the Dan Vasc journey and continue to be amazed by him. He also does a great job in his Phantom of the Opera songs, plus the duet he does of Andrea Bocelli's "Time to Say Goodbye" is quite jawdropping, as well. Sometimes, I realize during listening to Dan's songs that I haven't breathed for a min. Very few people actually leave me breathless, but Dan's voice sure does.

Okay, let's get the take out of the way that will get the haters after me - in my opinion, Pavarotti is overrated. I could not get through his version of this song before hearing Dan, and after Dan, it's even worse - just flat and lifeless. Return fire if you must, but I will die on this hill. Now, on to Dan himself - ten years of formal lessons and years of studying his favorite singers have made him into the absolutely amazing singer we have and live today. Dan just does Dan things, and you don't question how or why he does them. You just accept and love that he does them and gives us the best music we have ever had the joy of hearing, feeling, experiencing. Excellent reaction!

The first time I tuned into that stream, the song hooked me and I've been watching the show every single week for 2 years next month.. This week's stream actually starts in a couple of hours. I've seen him appear as a guest in streams in that circle. And he's usually makes appearances in a bunch of their livestream chats. I love some of his covers that he's done.. Just spitballing here, but my guess is that Dan has some experience with singing power notes into a microphone, and adjusting the distances and voice levels accordingly. That being said, I don't think he ever said he was an opera singer, he's a metal artist singing opera. Finally, I don't expect Dan to do the entire Marriage of Figaro anytime soon, and the cynic in me says that's because he wants to sell his music.

ken............don't now if you have time to read your comments. have to tell you how much i enjoy your reactions. from the first time i heard you exclaim "sweet creamy eggnog" over the sound of a vowel in "i'll make a man out of you" to your chiding yourself about "geeking out" during this reaction. dan has said that when he first heard john schiltt of petra singing, was the day he decided to be a singer. You might want to check out his cover of petra's "beyond belief" feat. john schlitt and john lawry (a career goal of his to sing with them) makes him look as happy as he makes us when he listen to him. Keep on showing us how these beautiful sounds are made.

I get the feeling that if Dan had wanted to be an opera singer, he would have thrown himself into learning it and doing it perfectly. But Metal is where his heart is, and that's where he's put most of his training. It takes a special skill to do those screams, growls, and other metal voicings without blowing out your vocal chords. The fact that he can do that AND still sing opera brilliantly is mind-blowing.

Yes Dan nailed it. Also you might want to check out Adam Lambert's version of Nessun Dorma during a Queen concert in Italy last year. Not too shabby.

We have two extraordinary young talents, Dan Vasc and Gabriel Henrique, both from the same Brazilian state, Minas Gerais. Please analyze Gabriel Henrique in Earth Song - Michael Jackson, where he makes insane vocalizations and whistles.
