Dan's country is dealing with a communist president and would love to come to the US, but he can't get a VISA. Just as with Amazing Grace he turned to him into an Anthem. He turned this Anthem into an Anthem or an Anthem that goes with the don't tread on me shirt he almost always wears. And the apology is almost better than the song. Anton Chekhov says that the role of an artist is not to answer questions but to ask them. All of these people who were against dance interpretation need to look at themselves in ask why did they have that reaction. Even if you did like it it's still a good idea to ask yourself why if only to reaffirm your beliefs. Dan is a truly humble original down-to-earth human being and I know my life is better now that I've discovered him

I'm not American, but I admire Dan singing the US national anthem. He could have guessed that he would get some backlash because of it. His apology is great. That's how we know Dan. Loved your reaction to both videos, bud. I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments. I absolutely love Dan's Star Spangled Banner. Haters will hate. It's not like he had his hand over his heart pledging allegiance to our flag (yet). His unapologetic "Apology" video gets me every time & it's so much fun to watch people react to. There have been numerous channels reacting to these 2 videos today with very similar reactions. Glad to see Dan getting recognized for who he is in addition to his musical abilities. The closest I'd ever heard to a metal version before Dan's version was Madison Rising's Star Spangled Banner. It's more American Rock, but my goodnesss it's awesome. Those are 2 of my top favorite versions. If you're going to do a Patriot Pride month, maybe check that version out, as well. The band isn't together anymore, but the lead singer (Dave Bray) is a Navy/Marines veteran, and they added a little personal verse of their own as a message to any enemies of this country. Madison Rising had lots of patriotic songs. Dave Bray is solo now & still doing great patriotic "for God & country" music. Happy 4th of July to you! 🇺🇸

I agree with you. I'm fine with letting people be whoever it is they want to be and I try reasonably hard to not do or say things I know for certain, will hurt someone. But....I also refuse to walk on eggshells around people either. People need to go back to being able to take a joke sometimes and stop looking for reasons to be offended. I'm also a proud Amercian and I love this country. My dad fought in WWII and I would never disrespect his service and sacrifice by disrespecting the US. He would have loved Dan's version of the SSB.

YES! My dad would have been playing this all day long, on the 4th of July! He, also, was in WW2. In our little town of Valdez, Alaska, he was head of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars), the entire time we lived there, until he passed away in 1973. We always had a GREAT Fourth. I'm thinking Dad would have been doing everything he COULD, to get Dan up here to do this song in person!
