my parents do the exact same thing hers do and let me just say it is very difficult to talk about.all you wanna do is ignore it and move on. so when her mom is making her do it in public during dance practice in front of cameras, i definitely get her reluctancy to talk. there are a lot of emotions and feelings that are hard do put into words when it comes to being a child of fighting divorced parents.

As someone who's parents divorced when I was 12... it is 100000 percent possible to not have trauma from it. To not have ill will. I was much happier after the divorce and custody (though my parents literally had my brother and I decide how to split the time like they worked together we never had to go to court over custody) there was no more fighting every single night, no more being scared of what will set one parent off on the other. I think its more dangerous to tell kids they NEED to be traumatized over their parents divorcing. I felt bad that I was happy about my parents splitting. Even if brynne wants to talk about it, in public is not the place. Regardless of if there's cameras. Why couldn't Ashlee just say "did you want to talk about this later? When we go home?" Instead of getting mad and saying she's acting like a five year old???

I feel so bad for Brynn, she was already a reserved person, and she obviously didn't want to spill all of her feelings to the producers and camera people and conniving other moms. Jill saying, "I think you guys need to get a camera over there" and no one confronting her about it made me really angry. If I had been there, I would have said to that woman, "You are a horrible human being, you don't do that to that poor kid, who is going through so much!" Someone also needs to reassure Ashlee and tell her that Brynn isn't just being a teenager, she didn't feel comfortable telling the whole world about her feelings about her family's divorce on camera. Also, I know all of the other comments are about this, but literally WHY is Jill the one taking care of Brynn. Of all of the mothers, WHY HER??!! The producers probably forced that. Dr. Queen Legend Holly would be a better fit I think.

i come from a divorce and honestly, i feel for brynn. i felt the exact same way. i believe that there comes a point when you don’t know what to feel because the whole situation is so overwhelming that you become so numb to it. it is exhausting to be in the middle of that, even if your parents try to shield you from it. so brynn not having an opinion, i think, is very common and very normal and ashlee trying to pry the feelings out of her daughter, it can feel as if she’s overstepping brynn’s boundaries. of course she can have her opinion and her feeling about the divorce and custody battles but she also has the right to not know what she’s feeling. thanks for coming to my ted talk
