not a fan of most of what your mom said. i grew up dancing for 10's of years and i very much disagree that boys aren't supposed to dance on the floor and that they only have to dance "masculine". the beauty of dance is the fluidity of genders and how it can be so completely gender-less but then also separate out into fully masculine and feminine and then combine again to be fluid and overlap. i love the blood sweat and tears routine because of how in sync they are (in full speed) and how they mix the traditional feminine and masculine dance styles. :)

Whitney Titus I know what u mean but If u put it that way - what is Ballett than? One of the most traditional dancing styles ever. It’s just in later years that it became „uncool“ for boys to be Ballett dancers. Which is very unfortunate imo.

Dance is dance, I didn't know moves had gender. Come on...just give us a critique on the dancing, not what they are wearing and how many times they "grab" hey at least that's a masculine move right? Sorry for the sarcasm, but these boys are some of the best out there and they work thier azzes off. Thanks for trying to get your mum to appreciate them though, I can clearly see your love for them and I really appreciate how much you are devoted to them.

@SherieReamy Agree with you there. I think the mum's age has a lot to do with these things... Older thinking and kind of stuck in their old-fashioned ways. A younger dancer/instructor would not have been exposed to the things that this mum has in life and visa/versa. Thankfully things are changing and people are growing more open-minded as we continue to be exposed to more neutral thinking. I watched a video with a much younger man and he flipped out at the 'makeup' and now he thinks he might not look too bad with a little. Narrow-minded dare I say, ignorant thinking will always be around, we just have to try to keep the exposure coming.

What style of dance does your mom teach? Because a decent majority of male contemporary, or ballet dancers use a lot of feminine moves... Physically dance is about control over your body, which means you should be able to do both masculine AND feminine moves no matter your gender if you're good.

You don't have to understand or like it to see the value. Also you are a very beautiful young lady you have a great smile and I think you could do a pushup with no problems. One thing that everyone will learn after watching enough of their videos is that everything they do, music and choreo, is catered to the message of their album/music. So their choreo may not be "masculine" because it doesn't fit the theme. For example, in Blood, Sweat, and Tears, the song is about discovering life temptations, so their dance moves articulate that theme. BTS makes it a point to give everyone more than a song. They give us true art. Hence, everything they do comes together harmoniously to give us performances that mean something to all of us.

When it first came out I was shocked at the theme they used in the MV but the more I listened to it, the more I love it like I always do with all their music. This single from their 2016 ‘Wings’ album brings house blends of which the group declares their will to throw everything on the line for love & success. The thematically sentiments blend of temptation with a carnal willingness to sacrifice everything!
@ellie_jeann5 жыл бұрын
That was back when their choreography was more isolated and firm, RM and Jin were ususal always in the back because they were not as great at dancing as the rest but the more they practiced the more they gotten better at all....they all practiced to point where they would collapse and Jin had it much harder since he didn’t have much to no musical or dancing background but he had the talent that bighit saw which at the time he didn’t see until later on top of being a visual. Over time their choreography has become more steady and loosen!

Ima just say that the second song is talking a lot about temptation so the moves were resembling weakness and falling for temptation not being strong and masculine like DOPE. DOPE is a song about being proud of yourself and lifting yourself up so it has those strong and confident moves.

I’ve read that the reason Blood, Sweat , and Tears has a lot of sexual moves is because the song is about the idea of putting everything on the line for success, love, etc. The dance feels that certain way because that’s how temptation is supposed to feel: seductive (I read this somewhere but I’m not 100% it’s correct) I’m also sure that it’s not just the choreographer that contributes with his dance moves. The other members such as Hoseok (J-Hope) contribute with their own as well. :) (Might be wrong, sorry)

I love an opinionated person, but your mother is being so condescending? Like not even just to BTS (which, I mean, so many hate on BTS, what else is new 😒), but she's being quite rude to you too... She was hella dismissive to every opinion you had, but hers are law? "Your brother can do that too" like so?? Doesn't make the move any less cool... Your mother is very closed minded, which is fine, she's probably very good at the style of dancing she teaches because of it, but maybe don't have her react to anything outside her interests?

If ur mum wants masculine then show her jimin’s MAMA performance (blockB vs bts) where he ripped his shirt off and their rainism cover lmao. Also maybe she would prefer more of their older dances where it was more rock/hip hop style like boy with luv and danger? I would still like to see her react to some of bts’s more contemporary dances tho. It would be interesting to see what she would think of them given the fact that she prefers “masculine” moves, i wonder if some of bts’s softer but still amazing choreographies (like spring day and save me) would change her mind. Especially some of jimin’s dances like serendipity because although ur mum prefers masculine moves, serendipity is the epitome of jimin’s incredible artistry and feminine style and how he makes it beautifully work. It’s way too beautiful to dislike, like jimin is an actual angel.

I know she has an opinion, and I respect that, but honestly I saw nothing to criticize. Also I could feel you getting a little tense when she made any comments lol. And finally (you must be so pleased I'm nearly done 😂) I want to say that dancing isn't restricted to genders, and I greatly admire BTS for doing different styles of dancing, and "feminine or masculine", because that takes raw skill/talent. It's obvious your mum is from a very different generation and her thinking is clearly based on that much older and old fashioned thinking. Perhaps with more exposure to these things, she will become more astute to the diversity in dance types today and maybe more open minded? Dance should have no gender, it is about expression. Also, it can be hard putting someone you love on for the world to see and then criticize so sorry about that. Keep up the exposure.
