I've seen a video recently where some FF lady reacted to an intense death metal song. She called it great workout music, because the singer sounded like a monster and she would imagine herself running away from the monster, it would make her want to run even faster. And I (with M sensory) was completely perplexed when she said that, I was like: "Really? This makes me feel like _I'm_ the monster chasing people, _that's_ why I'd wanna be running faster." But then it clicked for me - it's type related.

This is SO interesting!! >:)) Ne tangent, but this vaguely reminds me of a thought I had a few years ago. I wondered what would happen if I showed a large sample of people, say, a video of a fox chasing a hare. Which animal would people root for? Would there be a reason behind which one a person favored over the other? It would be so cool to see which people anxiously wished for the hare to get away and which people would laugh with the fox and cry, “GET HIM, you’re so close!!” hahaha. That situation itself is truly just part of the food chain of nature, so I wonder if typology could explain specific reactions (though stereotypical associations towards foxes and hares might get in the way). Just a thought?
@someonerandom7132 жыл бұрын
@@sophiaredwood5825 That'd really be fascinating to see. I can't imagine many people rooting for the fox. Mainly because we like cute animals and don't like to see them get hurt. But if there are, what would you suspect they might have in common? Alternatively, maybe have a cat chase a bug or something. Nothing too generally hated like wasps, nothing too cute like a rabbit ^^

I realized that just now with this video, and also saw how it relates to lyrics and lyrical presence. I love listening to Meshuggah because it's heavily focused on polyrhythms, and sound in and of itself. I do enjoy some blues or hip hop once in a while, but I couldn't pinpoint exactly WHY I absolutely despise listening to a lot of rap, country, or even songs in genres I enjoy more like metal and retrowave. Then it clicked! I don't like music that's focused on lyrical content, because it takes away the power to create my own narrative in whatever I'm trying to do. I love heavy lyrics about deep concepts, but I need to get hooked on the music first. If the lyrics are too prominent for me to enjoy the music and not see it as merely "accompaniment," I will immediately lose track of any conversation I'm in and feel like a kid who lost their mom at the supermarket! And that's why I like Aphex Twin.

I love this so much, as a DJ I have watched many videos of myself spinning and I'm very much the guy in red, head moving to the beat and lots of punching the air. I've seen other DJs doing intricate flowing dance moves while spinning and as they get more comfortable they really get crazy with feminine hand waves and spins. Also...Sorry Dave but the knobs do matter especially if your listening to and preparing another track in the background, there are also a ton of effects you can activate in real time to distort and alter the music.
@worldwidehappiness2 жыл бұрын
I guess head-banging would be the ultimate masculine "dance". It might also depend on what's being activated. If you're in your head at the time and you are have masculine T, then you might dance in a masculine way for a while even if you have feminine S. BTW, I love Shan's top.

I am very Masculine Sensory. My dancing is very punchy. I decided to learn to dance in a feminine sensory way. I'd say now I can. However, I often feel very restrained while doing it. So I don't do it as much. I've noticed some people think the punchy dancing is to get noticed from the comments. However it's due to passion and expression.

Could it be that some music appeals to sensory more than specific emotions, and other music appeals to specific feelings and not as much to sensory? So the difference in reaction is between the feminine and masculine sensory/feelings. So a person with masculine sensory and masculine feelings would almost always be punchy.

I think those knobs are _supposed_ to deal with EQ under some freq. band, but I think you're right Dave. Literally every club I've been to there's some DJ at the front doing whatever the fuck, but there's always this guy at the back on some little computer with a bunch of sliders on the screen, who is actually responsible for it sounding good. Also I've never been to a club where the music has actually sounded good, so take that for what it's worth.
@dolarich2 жыл бұрын
only the best dj's know how to use the knobs properly, the rest of them just act most of the time
@Cameron-uw6cl2 жыл бұрын
As a former sound guy, you might be right, I think it varies in how much DJs are “acting” though a lot of them are actually transitioning between songs/bringing in effects/tempo changes/etc however their biggest job is to just be hype guys if they’re any good. Sound guys are responsible for making it sound good, so at a club there usually should be another guy setting delays on speakers, setting the overall EQs, limiters, comps, etc
@CricketRodeo2 жыл бұрын
This video is so interesting...all of it. I love when you guys link typology to music. I can relate to connecting to both masculine and feminine with dancing too. Dave, are you a drummer? Would you say most drummers (and heavy metal screamers) are masculine sensory? I'm INTP so I have 3rd slot Si (not Se), but I definitely connect mostly with the beat when dancing (as a drummer and lover of hip hop / rap as well, and a sucker for music with a lot of drums and bass), but also like some more flowy interpretive dancing as well (in my kitchen rarely with my kids...not in public :). I wonder if that's feminine Ne being expressed (in my head I think I'm connecting the music and lyrics to logical abstract connections in real time when dancing like that)? Fe in my 4th slot makes me nervous to dance in front of people for fear of my dancing looking stupid or not good enough. I'm not really sure how to tell whether my Fe is masculine or feminine. I love all kinds of music and connect deeply with the emotional stuff as well. Emotional music seems like a healthy way of regularly releasing Fi for me from my subconscious (my 8th function). It's my daily therapeutic. When I drum, my natural strength is being very consistent/solid and very much right on top of the beat (usually driving it, not slightly lagging behind it). I'm guessing I'm masculine Si. My weakness is the fills (Se is my blind spot...I imagine the high Se users are much better at fills and percussion fillers, being more creative on the spot with drum solos, and maybe not as strong naturally as the Si people at being consistent/solid).
