Surfer Can just KNOW superman's weaknesses. He can just transmute an atmosphere around superman of Kryptonite and red sun radiation WHILE draining him of his solar energy. The only power of Superman's that Surfer can't outmatch is his plotarmor, which is second only to Batman's plotarmor. However, take away plotarmor, and Surfer wins. If we take both characters at their highest peak (putting writing inconsistencies aside), Superman would def take it. As for his powers, Superman reminds me a lot of a vampire (like Dracula): his abilities are many, as are his weaknesses. The Surfer (who I used to humourously call 'the silver sufferer’ for his more depressive phases) is generally as powerful as the plot allows, but in the end he's a gentle soul, not a warrior. He always restricts himself too much and gives opportunities for a more ruthless opponent to take advantage before the final gong rings.
