I don't have a bike yet, but since I've started doing research about them my driving style has changed without me even realizing it until recently. I began to notice when I would ride in a car with another driver their driving style would bug me. I would think "they're too close to the car ahead of them", "they've been in that blind spot too long", "they should have known that person was coming over", "Why aren't they aware of the traffic around them". A few weeks ago I started to put my driving to the test. I found out I always had at least a 2 second following distance, I was looking way far ahead of me at traffic, I would check my mirrors every few seconds, never be in blind spots longer than I need to, I always knew where all the traffic around me was, and I drive very defensively (as if no one sees me in my car). Even though I don't ride yet, just being educated on the topic has made me start to develop the "motorcyclist brain" and I've become a better and safer driver because of it
@sgt_kissekatt66864 жыл бұрын
I tent to drive fairly defensively even though i drive a pickup, but thats cus there are too many who cant drive here. So i dont trust any random driver! So when i get my MC license in a few weeks i already should have the basics down of "drive as if no one can see you", just gotta develop it further.

Another tip to tell new riders might be to RIDE YOUR MOTORCYCLE. I'm a new rider and I was hesitant to ride to work during certain parts of the day because the traffic was bad. I left my bike for about 5 days and the battery went dead. One of my biker buddies then told me about how you need to maintain your battery charge if you are not riding.
@votpavel5 жыл бұрын
remember you dont want to trickle charge sertain types of batteries and the ones you do you have to keep an eye on them and charge in a safe enviroment due to fumes from battery. Once a week riding is fine but if dont ride for more than a week then at least start it every couple of weeks to let the oil run through the whole system,unplug the battery for winter season so that way its in the house and cold doesnt destroy it fast.Also every couple of weeks just go and move the bike a foot or two so the tires dont get pressure on one same spot and develop problems

The best way to ride is to never stop learning. Take the basic and advance courses, and always ride like you are invisible. Before you spend the money in upgrades for the bike. Make sure you have the proper basic equipment for you and your bike.

Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say.

Even though I don’t have a motorcycle I still value Dan’s safe riding advice and enjoy watching his KZbin channel. My mom just passed and I find myself wishing a lot I could get out and ride because it has always been and escape for when stressed but especially now because I could use and escape from my heart being shattered after my mom passed. Sorry for the personal rant. Back on track I highly recommend Dan’s channel for riding safety. 👍👍

Great bit about the pre ride inspection! I recently took off from where I work and my rear tire was flat. I didn't notice it until about 200ft because it still had a little air. Hey @Dandanthefireman Im looking to buy a motorcycle Im sort of a beginner but not really Let me explain Ive driven manual transmission vehicles all my life. I learned to drive on a 1961 international pickup 3 on the tree. Every vehicle I have owned in 25 years have been manual transmission. So I know how to use the clutch. Ive ridden ATV's that are semi automatic and I have ridden a few motorcycles. A rebel 250 and a Honda cb360 many years ago both manual. I also have good common sense knowledge of most things I can and can not do on a motorcycle. Most of your videos and other instructor videos I watch like MCrider. To me its like well thats common sense. For example The video on going from pavement to gravel you have to slow way down before entering the gravel. Not saying I dont learn anything from the videos. Most of it seems to me as common sense. Being alert and looking way ahead. I do that now in my vehicles. What Im getting at is Im looking at a Harley Sportster 1200. But then I see MCrider say get a Rebel 500. Im pretty sure your first motorcycle was a Harley 1200. With your experience starting on the 1200. Whats your opinion on which bike I should purchase. Im still looking into a MSF course for begginers also.
