I also agree with the recipes. My sister thru my recipes out. Thats one thing made me mad! It had my grandfathers recipe for homade carmels got chucked. No wonder dad got mad at her. But one thing that i can say is, u can always replace stuff, but u cannot replace a life as i we lost it all in a fire almost 20 yrs ago. Luckily no one was hurt!

6 years ago i downsized from 2700 sq ft to 1400. I gave away all of my furniture right down to the area rugs. Donated all my books and CDs. When i move to the villages, I'm only bringing my bedroom and my couch. Everything down to dishes will be donated. It is very liberating. Came close to a contract on a house this week, but it didn't work out. Soon .

There’s a famous original Philly cheesesteak place here (Delco’s) in Clearwater/Dunedin that only takes cash. There was a Nextdoor post last week by someone who witnessed a young man stepping up to pay for a woman’s carry out order because she didn’t know about the cash only policy and she didn’t have cash on her. Awesome and heartwarming to see a young person who was so kind and generous.

When I moved to the Villages in February I decided to go all electric with my vehicles. I bought a lithium battery golf card from the Villages golf cart store. Jerry is correct, the 110 volt line will charge and has about a 60 mile range. I also bought a Tesla. For charging I had to add a 220 volt line. I bought a charger from Tesla (about $500) and had it mounted to my garage wall and the 220 line. Works out great and in total it's added less than $20 a month to my electric bill. Really love the Tesla.
@stefanventura60043 жыл бұрын
How much did it cost to install the Tesla Charger, and if you were happy with the install, who did you use? Thanks. I own a Tesla and moving down next week.
@bobsimmons47473 жыл бұрын
@@stefanventura6004 HI Stefan: I used Galaxy Home for the install (they did the original wiring for my house) it was about $250. They were very helpful. they wired thru my attic so as to mount it at the perfect place for charging. Good luck with the move and welcome. BTW, there are more and more Teslas here all the time.

More then a decade ago maybe 12 years ago when I was actively researching 55 plus communitys ago there wasn’t really any videos like this - the ones that were available were more promotional and that doesn’t give you the “day to day” real life - “a day in the life” so to speak - the good bad and not so good if you will - you cover it all on your show! I have learned so much that I didn’t know, it’s the little things for me that you cover that is so helpful - the costs of landscape maintenance the palms for example - where to put gas in the golf carts and even today that they are golf cart maintenance sites!

This happened to me in the parking lot of Winn Dixie a couple of months ago. Came outside, got in my car and it wouldn't start. Fortunately I had just joined AAA only a few months prior. They came within 15 minutes and put in a new battery. The battery was $125.00 and it was well worth the peace of mind! So glad I joined AAA since I am single in The Villages!

Everything that AAA does was included in my State Farm Insurance and I didn't even know it for years and years. Once I found out and used it, it was great. The people came out really fast and changed my tire or whatever. Most car insurance policies do include this. You may be paying for AAA for no reason. Also, Mercedes in my area does the same thing if you have a Mercedes. That means if you need a new battery they will have the correct one. There is no charge for this except for the battery of course. They don't charge for the service. It's not available if there is no dealership in the area I don't think. I'm single (divorced) too and am so thankful for these services.

My husband and I have be going through the purging process for nearly a year now as our goal is to get everything we want to take to TV into one large POD and we are almost there. It does get easier with time and actually feels quite liberating. Hardest for me to part with was some of my Christmas collectables. Now if only I could get my husband to relinquish a few of his many salt water fishing poles we would be in good shape. But got to give him credit for selling his small Boston Whaler boat that we kept in the garage with not even a tear shed. You are right stuff is just stuff except for the recipes from my grandma that I cherish like Linda does her recipes. Again, another enjoyable Monday video to start my week with a smile. 😊

Rented in The Villages 3 years in a row until March 2020 when our country of Canada called us back home early because of covid. We had to go …. was soooooo disappointed. I absolutely LOVED The Villages. There is beauty everywhere you look and heaps of activities. I am a passionate golfer and we played pretty well most exec courses. I just played my last round yesterday in Ottawa Canada…and today all is white with snow. Btw, I made sure we cared for every house we rented like it was our own. And left it spotless even though there was a cleaning fee. One owner who showed the house we were renting (selling it) told us that the potential buyers couldn’t believe how clean the house was. But I guess not all renters are the same. Plan to return to The Villages after this winter cause still skittish about Covid. Best to stay close to home for now. Your vlog is delightful and funny and every time I view them, I miss The Villages.

My wife and I recently moved to one of the other, smaller, 55+ active communities in Central Florida. We visited the square at Brownwood this past weekend, and I'm pretty sure we saw this exact red Atomic golf cart. You are right: it's a beauty. Based on our experience, you're right about pretty much everything else, too. We had a great time visiting the Villages (we have life-long friends who live there), and will come again. I still prefer the slower pace where we are, while still enjoying opportunities to join and do beyond what we can ever hope to partake in. However, I can plainly see why so many people choose the Villages. It is everything you say and convey. I love what you do, and find it immensely helpful to me where I live, too. You might not realize that you're not only evangelists for the Villages but also missionaries to those living the lifestyle elsewhere. With great admiration from your neighbors a little to the northwest, Gabe Saporito

When i sold my home in St Augustine a few years ago I only took what fit in my Honda Accord. Good thing too because my attempted move to Oregon around extended family wasn’t what i expected. I attempted a couple other places but decided on Texas at the end. It’s hot down here too in the 100s during summer months but always windy. Everything is more affordable here and less traffic than st augustine. I’ve stayed pretty minimalist too in an apartment, large enough for me and my dog. 3rd floor walk up on the sunny side for one balcony and the other larger balcony faces north. I lived in south Florida 15 years and north Florida 20 years. Ive seen enough of Florida. I’m glad your finding your paradise.
