Aren't you suppose to let the oil cool? I mean I don't have one but common sense would tell me to wait till it cool.
@Powerfade545 жыл бұрын
That dumb hick is right, you liberal moron. Firstly, the drain switch is automatic. The oil WILL NOT drain until the desired temp is reached. Secondly, even though the oil is not extremely hot when it is draining, it can still cause a lot of damage. Even fire if you have this on your stove, which a lot of people do to use the stove's exhaust fan. Thirdly, the plastic melting is an indicator that the entire drain process and mechanism have been corrupted, and extremely hot oil was indeed allowed to drain into the reservoir. If the plastic was heat rated it would not have melted and the oil, even though extremely hot, would have been contained within the reservoir. Fourthly, he noted a malfunctioning drain assembly. Which most likely is the culprit that allowed hot oil to be released prematurely. He is right that T-fal does not offer that part as a replacement. You need to buy the entire pan. That mechanism is sealed in place at the factory and should not ever come loose. Lastly, now how does it feel to be the 'dumb' liberal screaming; look how more superior I am? You are a jerk! Now go back down into your mama's basement and play your video games!

I've only just got mine (with the white filtration box) I find it does only start the filtration process once it detects its cool enough, however on the strength of your experience Ive decided not to entirely trust the automatic filtration, but wait a good 3 hours before turning the dial to filtrate, its just not worth the risk, as with all things automatic, nothing is foolproof,, and as I have pets, Im not risking their welfare. A little patience is all that is needed. Please dont give this man a hard time, he took the trouble to show us what can potentially go wrong, and lets face it a gallon of hot oil all over your kitchen is no joke, so I say thank you kind sir for alerting us to this issue 👍👍👍
@puretoon6 жыл бұрын
I've just bought one and it informs you many times in the manual to let the oil cool right down, intact the machine WON'T drain the oil until its cooled right down, so I don't know how your spout has melted-if thats what you're trying to say/show, unless you've forced the action somehow. I've used mine once last night and not knowing how long it would take the oil to drain, left it until today and it's drained fine in about 5 minutes or so. The switch on the front of the body is turned to 'automatically drain the oil' which then allows to fully cool, so you must be doing something really wrong for that to happen.

I had the smaller version of this fryer for YEARS. You could turn the knob to filter before the oil cooled, actually, and when the oil was cool, it automatically started filtering. I'm not sure if this version has the same mechanism, but it looks like it does.
@williamparsell21955 жыл бұрын
My guess would be that you tried to lift the top/dirty oil reservoir up for cleaning before the bottom clean oil reservoir was slid out. I assume the bottom clean oil reservoir slides/clips into the filter mechanism of the top oil reservoir creating a seal. If you pry the top reservoir off first it will looses the filter screen fastener push nut creating a leak leading to your melted plastic/oil fiasco. I assume rotating the knob full counter clockwise releases this clip seal allowing for bottom tank removal then you can remove the top tank for cleaning.
@NumaticVacuum4 жыл бұрын
People commenting clearly have no idea about this product. The reason it says automatic oil filtration is because you don’t have to wait for it to cool. The instructions tell you yo change the lever from fry to automatic oil filtration and the oil WILL NOT drain until it is sufficiently cooled. The valve does not open until the temperature is at a low enough temperature. You may of gotten a Friday afternoon model/faulty one. I have been using mine for ages and it works as described, I just love it. Easy to clean, it works, no complaints on my part.
@jaggsdrennan56653 жыл бұрын
You are correct, as far as your comment goes, however, there is a caution in the users guide to check that the valve is in the correct position before filling the pot with oil, if not, you should check to make sure there is no damage to the metal housing. I would say he probably skipped this step.

dsarti1 Point taken but the way you explained the situation or the event was that you were filtering the oil and at that point the plastic melted ... AND then you said that another defect was the washer but you didnt say that the washer gave up and then it went into the plastic container melting it ....so your video could be questioned in a court of law .... BECAUSE if there is a disclaimer saying that oil needs to be cool before filtering then you video explanation becomes worthless....reason why i say this is because you started the video by explaining the plastic and not the washer ....HAD you pointed out that the reason the plastic melted was becuase a defective washer leaking hot oil in to the plastic then we wouldn't question your video.

Lots of comments are saying that you have to let the oil cool and then put it to the filter mode. I read instructions and my understanding is that there is a mechanism in the machine itself that will not let oil drain unless the oil is cool. I have never waited til the oil cooled to slide it into the drain position and it did not drain oil until it was cooled. I feel T-fal needs to rewrite their instructions because judging by your comment section there is confusion. i do not think i will replace mine because you make very good points. SAFETY FIRST. I came here because i wanted a fix for my issue which filtration will not drain and this is my first after several years of use, so time to throw this into the recycle i think. I came here because i was looking for a fix. Thank you for your excellent video. I am thankful for your feedback and that i can avoid a situation like what you had or worse. You should send your video to Tfal. Maybe they can fix this engineering flaw and clean up their chinese to english interpretations on their instruction sheet.

I have the All-Clad version. I always wait the day after I use the fryer to drain it. The oil still leaks out of the container. Luckily I have it sitting on a rimmed cookie sheet. Because of this issue, I stopped draining the fryer all together, but it still leaks with the oil in the tub. I have contacted All-Clad (T-fal is a sister company) and instead of them addressing the issue, I was directed to purchase expensive replacements for the oil reservoir from a small appliance parts site. I agree, these things are faulty and it doesn't matter if the oil is cooled or hot, it still has a defect. I never attempted to drain it while it was hot because I was afraid the plastic would melt, but I still ran into the same problem with draining completely cooled oil.

Another serious fault with these machines is underrated power cord. After few uses, cord melts at the plug due to high wattage. It’s quite common problem. When I contacted T-Fal regarding this issue, they were perfectly aware of it and have replacement cords, at a price. And you are perfectly correct, oil tank should be metal, not cheap plastic. This is quite inferior product.
