Dangerous Elevator Malfunction! Westinghouse Elevator Overshoots The Floor!

[Recorded 7-25-19] I'm not sure WHAT was going on here, but it is definitely red tag worthy!! This was supposed to be a normal elevator video, and all was going well until my second ride up. Somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd floor, the elevator decided to just stop really hard and open its doors. The car was completely over the floor. I'm surprised the door could even open and close properly being that unaligned. After that, the elevator traveled at leveling speed up to 3. Super weird experience. As for the elevator itself, this is a rare original 1966 Westinghouse AE! They should get that checked out before somebody gets hurt. I tried calling with the help phone in the lobby to report it but nobody answered and I didn't have time to wait. Let's just hope it's fixed by now...

Hah, this is nothing, our elevator sometimes stops in between the floors, and we are jumping from the elevator :D I'll take a photo next time when it happens.

I remember when this used to happen in my old NYC apartment building in the early 2000s. Crazy part, the overshoot / undershoot would vary each time. Didn’t know what you were going to get. Occasionally the door opened to reveal a wall instead lmao.

My lift at my apartment had a dark past a man tied a rope in it and he ran out of the lift just before the doors shut.... and the lift went up a few floors and he hung himself BUT THE MOTOR WAS HAVING problems bc of his body being crushed AND SINCE TODAY the motor is slow and it rattles pretty badly today

The elevator is not in good operating condition, lack of lubrication in the roller bearing in the door guide rollers, tracks bearings, other parts can cause malfunctions. As for overshooting on floor landing, doors suddenly closing, there is likely trouble with the controller and floor selector. I would 2nd having it red tagged till it is repaired and tested before put back into service.

WOW. That’s bad! I remember when patricknedz found himself in a similar situation where It did not level with the floor. I also had that occasion once on a Schindler elevator and got stuck in the elevator. I did not film it when it happened because I was like 8 or 9 years old!

That actually happened to me on more than one Westinghouse. One time it stopped and didn’t open and when I pressed open it wasn’t level, the other time was from 1958, it opened too early and was above the floor.

I was on a Haughton once that would do this on a slight occasion going from 1 to 2. Only it would start off leveling while the doors were open. It was a hotel in Memphis that was 20 floors and that was the only time it would do it from 1 to 2. It was very unsafe.

Bro. The elevator closes in 1 second. Like just close in 3 seconds maybe. Btw how do I fix an elevator that keeps opening by its self cause the cursor thing fell. The janitor messes up the elevator so thet can clean it without the elevator breaking. Maybe give me some tips to fix it?
