I have Michelin Crossclimate tyres and I don't understand why anyone would venture out in summer tyres in snow. It's like wearing flip flops in winter lol

I can drive in summer tyres in bad snow & have had to several times, it not bout what tyres uve got it's bout how you drive & speed reading thecroad ahead giving yourself space to correct if problems arise obviously tyres are going to give you extra grip but most cars have traction control and abs so inexperience is dangerous
@MikeOxbrowne21 күн бұрын
@@dannyboii4351 Summer tyres are capable under many factors including driver experience and skill as you added. But in the UK all season tyres should be encouraged more as they provide extra grip in cold conditions. ABS doesn't provide much assistance when braking on ice.
@dannyboii435121 күн бұрын
@MikeOxbrowne I agree on the factor of safety with winter tyres for inexperienced drivers for sure & maybe some winter diving added to test with a skid pan or something, I'm just saying sometimes you gotta drive in those conditions despite not having the time or money to budget this in at the most expensive time of year so make the driving test cover this aspect 👍
@dannyboii435121 күн бұрын
@MikeOxbrowne suppose variables with car brands ect but my cuppa seems really good in snow was surprised tbh as last car wasn't best but I've actually been to a bit of land to have a play in this car in it performs really good abs works well allowing steering whilst under heavy braking & actually braking reasonably well sound terrible tho & also handbrake locks all 4 wheels with abs mad

I wouldn't cover the whole UK with this reasoning. Here in the Scottish Highlands we are snow far more often. Roads are remote and cover mountainous terrain. I have BFG All Terrain KO2s on my truck and are brilliant in snow. The roads are ploughed and salted. Farmers often clear smaller tracks that the gritters csnt reach. We manage. Its very different down south with far more people, roads and cars. So it isnt the whole of the UK.

i agree, my vehicle has no issues in the snow other than other cars blocking routes. decent all season tyres should be pushed for people, they wont notice the difference over summer tyres.

I went to Iceland last month and saw the difference winter tires make when driving in the snow. -12 with snow covered roads in a taxi stopping at lights like it’s a dry summers day. Even the front wheel drive mini van we went in didn’t lose traction once stopping or setting off from a dead stop.

Nice one.. i have bmw.. with all season tyres no issues driving with rear wheel... what people dont understand its the fact that the winter tyres are not only for snow.. the summer tyres and winter tyres have different temperature standards. summer tyres good for temp down till 7 degress after the grip its worse even on wet or dry. the same winter tyres obove 10 degress the grip its worse. its not about traction .. its also about breaking. people need to read more about it

You are right, why are all countries separated, having borders, an army, wars around the world. We need just one government on this planet, no borders, and use resources of this planet for all the people. No borders -no wars. Politicians have done all this mes in the World. Good at criticising other people, how do you know what tyres they have on?
@igoranddiana22 күн бұрын
Because I was driving in the winter time when it was snowing in Germany, Poland, Russia and over there all cars can drive any conditions, because it is compulsory to have winter tyres from 1 of November. And just in the UK , I see when we have little bit of snow, the country stops. What about snowing for 1,2 months? People are going to die without food , without medical help ,medication??? And just because they are not prepared 😭

Maybe you have been driving in the UK since 1980, but you have never been in Europe during the winter time.. What happened that day is not even snowing. Just check KZbin videos about driving in Norway and you will see different things. In Europe, USA, even -30c life is still going on. In UK +2C all schools are closed

I took an unnecessary drive yesterday to the Butter Tubs Pass in Yorkshire, winter tyres + Audi quattro it was a lot of fun and some stunning scenery. The only point of the journey was to mess about in the snow. Who gets to determine whats deemed necessary? The Gov? You? I will decide what journey is necessary thanks. Stop watching the BBC and being scared of everything. Next time there is an Amber weather warning, drive to that area. It wont be anywhere near as bad as the BBC will make out.

Were you actually watching the video? Igor clearly stated he was taking Diana to work. Did you not see her walking away from the car? Did you not hear Igor asking when he should pick her up? We have winter tyres here in Canada. They're not just for driving in the snow. They are a different rubber compound that gives better traction in the cold. When the temperature gets to 7C, that's the time to change to winter tyres. Most car insurance companies offer a discount if you fit them.
@theenglishtrucker184922 күн бұрын
Winter tyres are the best. Add Audi quattro and you are able to go anywhere in snow or ice. Ive been using them for years, I don't know why we dont make it law here. I know some people say "it never snows", but it does most years and we definitely have ice and wet cold roads. Most people dont realise their rubber summer tyres are plastic below 7C.
@igoranddiana22 күн бұрын
🙏 Thanks, at least someone understands me. Even if it snows only one day, for your safety it's better to have them. But you don't even need to have proper winter tyres, my tyres are Goodyear 4 season, with snowflakes on the side, I can drive on them to Europe. I have had them for 2 years, drove in Spain when was +40C, and the first time seeing them on the snow 2 days ago. And very satisfied
@lynneellliott973822 күн бұрын
In Ontario, Canada, winter tyres are not mandatory, which is shocking. When the temperature reaches 7C, that's the time to change to winter tyres so that you have better traction on the road surface and therefore it's easier to stop.
