This is so true, vegetables have such a high variety of flavours and applications I doubt anyone could downright dislike all of them in every way possible. I've been on a 3-year long 'quest' to try every fruit and vegetable and see if I can find one I dislike no matter what. I've yet to find one though I'm indifferent to a bunch (cauliflower, courgette, aubergine, spinach but I work them into soups, strews and sauces, honourable notion to asparagus, like them, but never worth the price.) Every other vegetable I *love* prepared in my favourite way, some just in every way. Being at my parents is downright torture on the vegetable aspect, they boil everything for 20m+, drain it with just the pan / lit over the sink, cover it in creamy sauces or cheese and pop it in the oven. It's the most disgusting drench ever, the cheese get plasticy, the vegetables are so overdone I couldn't tell if it's cauliflower or broccoli. It's not even the extra calories that bother me, I can recover from that but by day 3 I'm sneaking off into the village begging for a vegetable...

I think that a lot of people eating bad food and becoming overweight stems from not knowing how to make good tasting healthy food. I was never overweight but was eating an extremely unhealthy diet until I took a trip to Japan and discovered that veg can taste so good as long as you know how to make them. A lot of people could benefit from ditching processed food and investing in cooking classes and knowing a lot more about nutrition and a balanced diet.

I keep telling people that no one hates vegetables. Their parent either didn’t know how, or were too lazy to cook. They just force fed them canned stuff because it was cheap (could be bough with coupons) and it was easy since all they had to do was microwave it. They also believed that as long as kids get it in their system, them it didn’t matter how it tasted. Little do parents know that doing that can lead to kids interpreting all vegetable as nasty, thus they develop poor eating habits as adults. Parents also never let kids explore the rainbow variety of other vegetables. They just stick with the most generic ones like broccoli, peas, bustle sprouts, spinach, lettuce, and carrots. I didn’t know what beets, collard greens, kale, or swiss chard was until I was in college. Also, the whole “always finish everything on your plate” mentality is what can lead to eating disorders like over eating. Schools were even worse because they made no effort to make the vegetables taste good. They just forced kids to get a serving a vegetables with their meals and just assume they’ll understand the importance of healthy eating. Kids only cared about the pizza, hamburgers, and nuggets because they were the only foods that taste good.

Hey John, I'm a tailor so just to let you (and anyone else who is interested) know, a "backless" vest/waistcoat is totally normal and IMO the ONLY correct type of vest for Tux/Dinner suit/Black tie, a full vest can be restrictive (and make your back sweat) which defeats the entire point of a tux being a suit in which you can sit, move, dance and comfortably wear all night. It's not something we just rent to fat people because they cant fit a normal one we make them in all sizes. A tux should also be a slightly loose(er) fit for the same reason. If you watch James bond movies Connery gets it right Craig gets it wrong.

"Your habits create your reality" is such a good line. It's not about being 'good' in your eating habits for one day and expecting to lose weight immediately; nor about overeating for one day and thinking that it will undo all your efforts. Being consistent, patient, and cultivating healthier habits - that we can adhere to on a day-to-day basis - is what will effect change in the long run, permanently.

I’ve noticed that the people who are the nastiest and most vitriolic towards fat people are the ones who used to be fat themselves. While the phrase, “if I can do, so can you” is meant to be inspiring, it also leads to the idea that anyone who is still fat is just too lazy to put in the work. People who are comfortable or even happy with being fat like Lizzo or Tess Holliday get it the worst because they get accused of “promoting an unhealthy lifestyle!” or get “fat acceptance is death acceptance!” comments. You’ll also notice that fat women get harassed more than fat men since there’s more pressure on women to be thin. It’s almost like the idea of a fat person being comfortable in their own skin annoys those people because they think, “I’ve suffered relentless amounts of bullying, couldn’t even stand my own reflection, and had to work my ass off to make it all stop. So why do you deserve to be happy with yourself and I didn’t?!” This is why it’s refreshing to see someone who used to be fat and doesn’t drag other fat people, brags about how all the privileges she got form being more conventionally attractive, tells people that all that have to do it get thin in order for all their problems to go away, or says anyone who doesn’t look exactly like her is just lazy or delusional.

I take a mountain cauliflower rice and sautéed it in a pan with a little butter and then add egg whites and Frank’s red hot...cook that up. Put it on a plate (it’s a huge pile of food) add some fat free cheddar slices to the top where it melts from the heat of the food and then add some low calorie ketchup to the plate. It tastes good and it’s a ridiculous amount of food for under 300 calories.

I actually agree on the "not weight every day" because I had that mentality for months, because i was scared of gaining weight and after tracking my weight loss for 6 months I noticed the pattern, it was coming down slowly but most days it was the same weight. It wasn't as important as soon as I started to handle my BED because I knew that I was eating enough, working out enough and I was in a deficit, it was impossible to gain back 2, 3 or 4 kg following this plan. I didn't weight myself for an entire month and when I got back on the scale, I had lost 4 kg. Now I just trust myself and I trust the process. I'm also building muscles so weight on the scale isn't that important in the short run because of how my body is changing anyways. I admit I am curious to see where I'm at, I would like to weight twice a month just to see if it's working but I like being free of that pressure, weight is just a number. I don't care about the number, I care about how i feel and since I'm still in the weight loss part (down from 125 to 98kg) there's no need to see If I lost 1 or 2 extra kilos until i'm actually down to a weight I can maintain and a physique I feel good at. I think it's important to check your weight when you're going under massive life style changes but it's important to also not let it define how you feel.

I would say she’s right for not weighing yourself every day as a woman (at the beginning!!) because depending on your cycle the fluctuations are insane. I be gaining 3kg on my period no 🧢. I only say this because at the beginning it’s so easy to be discouraged and think that what you’re doing isn’t working but it can literally be because of your hormones and the way your body retains water weight as a result. But I also agree with John that once you’re in the groove you can weigh yourself when you want and start to notice and accept the fluctuations if it’s not affecting you mentally

Not even melted butter can save that. Imagine my surprise when I tried them halved, tossed in a little oil/salt/pepper, and roasted in the oven. They're awesome! Especially if I'm already making something with a sweet balsamic glaze--that kind of sauce works so well with the slight bitterness in the char of the sprouts! Definitely experiment with how you cook your veggies if you think you "hate" all of them (and then absolutely roast your mother for her 1980s diet-culture-induced "steam everything" cooking methods).

I was active Pre-College. I was not really active once I went to college and beyond. I gained some weight and I have inconsistent workouts and diets. I am trying now to at least get the diet on track. I am so far enjoying my low carb diet (which isn't like that low carb, I picked terrible meals), but I will get there. I totally agree that changing bad habits really helps, I had carb heavy meals and just went and substituted out all carbs in breakfast for eggs. That helped tremendously for me.

When he says that if you have horrible habits and you change them, you'll see results.... and I eat well but have portion control problems 😭

Well, measure out one portion (like the half cup of rice thing) and eat that, then wait 20 minutes. Maybe drink a glass of water while you wait. If you're still hungry after the 20 minutes, then measure out some more. People tend to eat fast and don't really pay attention. Slowing down and forcing yourself to pay attention should help with portion control

@@stephanies9689 That's great advice! yes, I eat very fast without realizing, I definetely have to be more mindful.

Im a 5'5 male, I weigh somewhere around 136lbs, let's just say that I've been able to consistently eat more than 3000 kcal(tracked) of whole foods for a while so I have a big apettite in relationship to my size. Something that has helped me to be full for longer periods of time with less food, it's straigth eating slower, I first changed the size of my spoon and then I started chewing a lot more, it make a big difference. If you're wondering why I eated that much in the first place, I was doing somewhere around 7 hours of cardio a week, mainly boxing, so I was a lot hungrier than normal.

@@simpletomasboxing I have actually considered smaller cutlery and plates. I'll implement the chewing slower, many times I catch myself gulping down food 🤣

@@lovechildmag I actually preffer big plates, makes me feel like I'm eating more lol, and yes, the gulping down food part is so normal, especially when eating out or just being with other people.

During my fitness journey I was terrified of eating anything considered "Junk" for the fear that I would fall off the wagon. Food had a complete control of life and provided comfort when nothing else did. It was my go to safety net when things were tough or I needed a quick pick me up. It probably took around 1 year to feel comfortable eating junk food in moderation. I now feel that I have a good relationship with food and can afford to enjoy some junk every now and again. I can really relate to things she is saying.

I have been big since I was around 11 years old. Before that, I was always "bigger" than the other girls, but I was pretty skinny. I was just always tall and have broad shoulders. When I was 9 my family moved and where we moved to had a small country grocery store directly behind our house. When I would get off the bus, I would walk to the store and get a snack and a pop. I was always active, but not active enough. The weight just started creeping on. I remember at about 14 going to the Doctor and being weighed, I was 151 pounds. I was shocked and became really depressed about it, then just kept gaining weight. I was always "bigger" as I mentioned above, but I don't consider 151 pounds huge, but I was wearing a size 11/12 at that time, then I hit a 13/14 by 15 years old, then it was all the sudden a size 16 by the time I was 16, and when I turned 17 I became a size 18. I got pregnant and when I had my daughter, I was a size 20, then 22 became 24. At my top weight I was close to 300 pounds. I did manage to lose almost 100 pounds when I divorced, getting down to 196 pounds, but I remained around a size 18. I gained back up to around 250, then gained another almost 50 pounds, but did lose 60 pounds when I moved across the country in my late 30's. Now I'm 45, I've been working on losing weight again. I have not weighed myself, but I know I'm losing weight. However, I always have broad shoulders, big arms, so going by sizes of clothing isn't great for me. Even below 200 pounds, I remain a size 18 until I get to about 170 pounds, then I start losing sizes. I just want to get healthy and below 170 pounds.

Poor doll😔... I used to work in bridal and ALL the gowns are 2 sizes smaller than your actual size. So her size 8 in jeans should have been a 10 in a gown. Whoever brought her that dress should have measured her properly. Smh🙄🤦🏽‍♀️
