Forgot to mention my build! Starting Class: Hero Vigor: 22 (27)* Mind: 9 Endurance: 12 (17)* Strength: 16 (21)* Dexterity: 15 (20)* Intelligence: 7 Faith: 8 Arcane: 11 Upgrades: +2 regular weapons & +1 somber weapons. Only two talismans used: Radagon's Soreseal* (found in Fort Faroth in Dragonbarrow) and Arrow's Sting/Arrow's Reach. I'd also recommend that y'all bring the Concealing Veil talisman, as that will definitely help with sneaking up on groups in open world invasions.

I was looking earlier in the video and I think he had a weapon, he just also has a shield on his main hand, for whatever reason. So when he swapped to the shield he lost his weapon. I mean, the point is essentially the same - hosts getting hard-carried through the game.

And besides ds2 they NEVER release an arena with launch no idea why becaise they always add one later on

This looks incredibly fun. I've been keeping a bow on my dex build for a little pregame sniping, in-between moments, and finishers, and it has been so useful to have on hand. The jury's still out on crossbows, but a nice bow has a good chunk of utility.

Yeah shortbows in pvp are fun as fuck, they're extremely versatile thanks to their mobility and the variety of arrows you can use Gonna shill for myself but I uploaded a 1v3 in stormvale with the shortbow and duel curved swords and the bow single handedly saved that invasion since in the beginning I was playing sloppily

Telling people to attack bow users like a normal build in order to beat them is Archer Propaganda™. They'll just keep getting little hits in here and there while being almost impossible to punish. The real way to beat them is just refuse to engage, do nothing but reaction dodge. Let them waste their ammo. It'll waste a lot of time, but that's kinda part-in-parcel with bow builds.

You could always try running them down with a quick pokey weapon, use Quickstep or bloodhounds step on a small weapon. That should do the trick, and keep in mind even if people roll attacks on weapons that cause status effects the status effect can still build up on ghost hits.

Yeah the jump attacks from some were really not wise. You can face tank 10 arrows fine, but you can’t play the archer’s game of letting 30 arrows chip you down or keep you distanced. Close and fast weapons with the same understanding of timing as your opponent will beat the fastest mid-range bow.

What I personally would suggest is if you have a 100% tower shield that you could equip and a lot of bolases, you might just want to equip a weapon that you can roll catch real well with. Because despite how fun and interesting this video looks I guarantee you most people are going to inevitably mess up if you just rush them down with the raised shield

Fairly sure the leo ring equivalent is one of the strongest options for bows, the spear talisman I think? Being able to do counter hits at a distance is pretty strong, it worked in DS3 and it should work here too

Many talismans that should work for bows don't such as the claw talisman and all repeated attacks. Also headshots don't count as crits which sucks. A good rule of thumb thats like 99% accurate is repeated attacks are more or less combos. Each one button press in a combo is often a repeated attack. It has very little to do with the speed of the attack either, it can be very slow and still count.

5:00 for context: it took me almost A WHILE to figure out how to 2 hand my weapons on purpose, and during that time i accidentally two handed my weapons (usually the shield) and the only way i could undo it was unequiping and requipping the item to get it back to normal. so thats probably what was going on during that fight...

It astonishes me that people are playing the easiest Fromsoft game out there and still need 2 late game phantoms to make it through starting areas. Also! Grab Explosive Greatbolts on your Ballista for situations like the side of Stormveil Castle. You were throwing Greatarrows in, but with the Explosive Bolts you can actually knock people off the edges, like Shatter Earth on the Millwood Greatbow in DS3.

They don't give great bows explosive arrows because of the Rain of Arrows skill usable on any bows, it multiplies 1 ammo into 20 and rains it above the target... Do this with sleep arrows and watch you put them all to sleep rapidly if they took multiple hits. Costs 15 to 20 FP though but I am pretty sure people can reduce it to like 12 FP and put 20 Mind for 100+ FP to use. I wonder if there is any FP regen talismans or tools to find.

I've been doing this to learn how to use the shortbow. It worked way better than I thought it would. Using Volcano Pots at your feet or using the rope version really helps when the party won't give you space

Invaders like you are what i feel like Miyazaki wanted,I remember seeing a video where it said Miyazaki wanted an invader to essentially be a difficult enemy that is controlled by a human, instead of the extremely overpowered 1-hit kill OP Meta builds that are invading at literally level 1. To really help boost your damage, I highly recommend using the Black Longbow. It behaves like a Shortbow (jumpshots and roll shots) and can use Barrage, but has the damage of a Longbow. Really powerful, I use it on my dual whip 'robinhood' build.

@@BucketKingu A lot can be bought infinitely, but transferring those is pretty easy as well. Even a lot of ingredients for them can be bought easily. For example, rot arrows: thin beast bones can be bought infinitely and aren't expensive, aeonian butterflies are easy to farm because they respawn. (funnily enough, the ingredient to make preserving boluses don't, thanks Miyazaki!)

Shortbow is nuts in PvE. So ridiculously safe to get some cheeky damage in, plus status! Quick attacks after rolling, sprinting, etc. Jump then attack in air and on landing for a quick double-tap.

I like that you commit to the Bow and it's not just something extra. I remember those semi auto bows people would dual wield (think it was DKS2) but it was just part of the meta build for that game. It might have been the first DKS, but I'm sure it was in the 2nd one. That game has awesome PvP though, it was the best part of that particular game.

It is fun but what should they consider is that some type of arrows can follow enemies. There are already spells with insanely good(terrible) tracking. They might also make arrows with tracking. Free aim doesn't work like DS3, especially for xbows so this might be a good idea if we consider low damage. But still not sure because it might broke things up

There's a jump you can do to get the cliff with Regalia of Eochaid without doing Gaol Cave at all. It's accessible from a beach in Limgrave so that doesn't surprise me that Wolf has it in Stormveil Castle.

I've been using the black bow with the serpentbone blade on my first build and i have to say it is way more than a crutch; it was extremely fun and it got me out some very perilous situations. Even beat a few bosses that i had some troubles with. Bows have never been so fun!

I've had issues countering shortbow players in 1v1. Not sure if it's connection stuff or what, but what seems to happen is aggressive play can be punished by bow users as they can quick-draw after rolling from an attack over and over. Might have been the weapon I was using that was the issue (twinblade) but I found it pretty frustrating to fight against.

Bows has some bugs with the Rain of Arrows ashes of war... That AoW needs an Arrows Reach Talisman to nullify the bugged range. It also only works if you lock-on, you can't aim and then expect the arrow shower to land there ahead of time.

So I played around a bit with the Serpent bow on my arcane build, in early game fights after being summoned by my friend I was 1 shot poisoning every single invader. Idk how well it works at higher levels because ive never fucking landed a damn arrow in a duel lol.

I really think that fromsoftware should make that arrows get refilled on a Grace that a player doesn't need to buy them over and over again. For example magic is much stronger but a mage gets his mana and mana flask always back for free and a archer should too.

If you're not leveling up and just helping out in PvE or doing PvP, the souls you gain from invasions or boss clearing is more than enough to refill or max out arrow supplies. Especially at meta level/high level matchmaking (120-150). Heck even at like level 40-60 you can get a lot of runes to resupply if you do multiplayer in Caelid. Bows and crossbows in this game are very viable and economic. You can even kill the tutorial boss with a few arrows to spare as Samurai even if you miss a few shots.

@@IMDAMP2 don't get me wrong. Yes it's super easy to get your hands on lots of arrows but I think they could make it much more easy by giving the player 99 arrows of any type but you need to find the arrow type before getting them refilled at a Grace for example you need to find scarlet rot arrows somewhere in calid or magic arrows in the academy For balancing they could even make that it's not 99 for every arrow type.

i did a bow build already. You can clap bosses and players. They primarily scale with Str/Dex and the arcane you’d actually only need at 20. Composite Bow, Serpent Bow, and pulley bow are your best bet. (Albinauric bow if you’d like) and YOU also WANT TO INVEST IN STORM-WING ARROWS. They BREAK STANCES, STAGGER, and they HIT HARD. Those should be your regular arrows that you shoot. NEVER use the normal arrows that you can buy. You’re losing out on so much potential damage and impact. For shield users, sleep arrows with barrage usually works. There are so many cool combos to pull off with the bow. This was my first build when I first got the game. It was very enjoyable. Working on a pot/perfumer build atm, wanna see if it’s viable for pvp.

@@ungobungo7986 In some cases, it outshines other builds. Also, It feels fun to put in more effort to secure a kill. Swapping out arrows to take advantage of your environment also builds on the immersion you feel with world. Lighting arrows when it’s raining, fire arrows when near explosive barrels, etc….

I got this person in duels earlier that pulled out a bow and ran away with bloodhound step when I got them to one hit. I thought bows were trash in pvp until I got destroyed by bow + op running away. Also before pulling out the bow the person was using two bleed and scarlet rot rapiers. So that tells you what kind of person I was dealing with. Those duels honestly made me want to throw my controller. Only time I managed to beat them was when I had throwing knives equipped lol. Still pissed me off a lot. Out of like 4 duels that all ended the same way I only won 1

With this my eyes were opened. I probably only speak for myself when I say bows were straight TRASH in DS3 and DS2 so I avoided them like the plague in Elden Ring. Rush. Ganked. Rush. 3v1. Rush. I'm a str main, it's the fun without my controller catching fire from button mashes but... I only win during 1v1s and honorable duels which don't pair well with my hollow roots longterm.
