Have owned all three Drivers and the TSi3 stands out for feel of the face, sound and look at address. Those things were enough to persuade me, it’s too early to comment on length until we get into the new season 🤞🏻

I totally agree with this Dan, I upgraded’ my 917 to the new TS3 when the TSi came out (with lots of secondhand TS3’ s being sold by people to upgrade to that TSi). That change (combined with a little strike tuition from you) netted me longer (10 yards or so) and straighter drives, especially with the draw weight maxed to calm my slice. I don’t think I’ll be in such a hurry going to the TSi.

Have 917 with 50g stiff shaft as l am over 65 but still have 100 mph club head speed hope to try a tsi3 when we get back to golf, my 917 still gets me out to play at a reasonable level. Based in Somerset so will give you a call for a fitting

Interesting video Dan. I moved from an M6 to the TS3 as couldn't really get on with the TM. Love the TS3. For my limited ability I'm not sure I'd notice the change to TSi3 (although a lovely looking club) just now but who knows what the future will bring.

Very insightful Dan. I went from 915 Stiff to TS2 Regular ( professional fit) and found a massive improvement in dispersion and length...50% FIR to nearly 70% FIR, and 230 to 245 carry Kenneth

Used 915 which was the first driver I was fitted for and that plus practice and playing more was a game changer for me. My bad miss was open face right which on my home course brought in OB / trees. Got a good fit and confidence grew knowing that the miss was getting less and less. Stopped aiming left which made it worse and never looked back. Missed 917 and moved into TS3 with lighter, stiffer shaft but was slightly longer in length. That took a few weeks of getting used to but have loved it ever since. Not desperate to move to TSi but never say never !

Fair review, I use the 915D3 which I like to be honest, before that the 909D3 which I still have. I never really see the justification of price vs benefit every year with fresh drivers that come out on the market, granted some do look much nicer and I suppose you can get fitted to keep up with the best suited head and shaft combo. £500 is a lot of lessons and range balls.

I've had them all, Loved my 917 D3 but found it to really unforgiving on off-center strikes, upgraded to the TS3 in October last year and never really got on with it, was fitted but never liked the look of it with the bigger head, then I got the TSI3 into the bag and it has a similar look to the 917 which I loved and the forgiveness of the ts3, its an absolute winner and will take some beating to come out the bag!
@jhart81183 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. I too have been on the Titliest ride, in my case since the 910. Moved to the 917D3 as the 915 was less forgiving than my 913, and sounded like a firecracker going off with every hit. The 917 still sounds a bit high pitch but definitely better than it’s predecessor. Not sure I got much use out of the fancy weighting system, though. When I tried the TS I too felt underwhelmed. I dislike the shape, felt the bottom of the club looked messy a cheap, the numbers were not significantly better and it kept the fiddly weight adjustment system. Now if the TSI is as quiet as many are saying, the shape is more akin to the slimmer looking 917 and it has a more practical draw bias weight adjustment then I could be in for a change. That said, I’ll need the price to soften as £500 just feels too steep for a single club. That is now twice the cost of a fairway wood…Sounds like you are sold on it though…

Although the distance won't vary much I bagged the tsi3 last year Dan purely on forgiveness, looks, sound and accuracy. I don't believe distance has moved on in the last 5 yrs but forgiveness certainly has. Gamed the ts3 before and tsi3 is much better on mishits and accuracy with the same tensei blue shaft. Great video and I wouldn't swap my tsi3 out for nothing and I've tried many of the latest drivers.

i use the callaway xr pro 9 degree driver and it still works great. have tried the new maverick and a few other drivers at my pro shop and i cant see anything different really. maby a few yards difference but nothing else. But me and my brother took out our old titleast 975 and thats when i saw a major difference. but that club is 20 years old. my xr pro goes further and straighter and by a lot. the forgivness is so much better in the newer club. But when it comes to changing driver i think you need (for your avrage golfer) wait until your old driver is broken to get a new one or a lot of years to see a big difference really. ofcourse we all like new shiny things but to see big difference tech needs time to give us that difference.

I think if you struck all three drivers absolutely perfectly then there's not much in them at all, possibly slightly more potential in the Tsi3. However, we don't do that and i'm certain over the course of a season, the forgiveness level in the Tsi3 combined with the efficiency across the face would ensure that your AVERAGE driving distance would be further than previous models. Marginal gains but adds up over the year! Good Content Dan, maybe use some foot spray when testing on the course to show us strike??

Greetings from NZ. Interesting item Dan and very timely as I'm currently considering transitioning from my 917 to something else - TS3 perhaps or maybe another brand? I hit my 917 ok, albeit with omnipresent strike variability, so like some of the other people commenting, would the extra cost to upgrade be justified based on your tests. Frankly, I'm sceptical. How would these drivers perform in the hands of a lesser player. I was once a long hitter (Scratch player) but my ball/swing speed has dropped over the years as I've gotten older. My ball speed is currently around 140. My question is, how can I better optimise my 917 by finding a more suitable shaft e.g. something lighter? It would be interesting for you guys to compare the performance of some different shafts in these drivers from time to time - I suspect you may have already done so in a previous vlog? - but of course the manufacturers aren't interested in selling just a shaft!. Remember that most of us out here in Utube land represent a cross section of skill levels and swing speeds. I enjoy your Vlogs, especially the course vlogs, but I believe a bringing in a female (someone like Sophie Walker) from time to time, would add a lot value to your channel - maybe more than you think! Cheers

excellent review Dan. I gamed the 913D3 for years and couldn't replace it with the 915 or 917, both felt and looked horrible by comparison. Then a few months ago the TS3 went on sale in prep for the new models to come out so I jumped on a deal and it finally pushed the 913 out of the bag.....but in terms of looks I totally get what you're saying, the TS3 has got a weird bulbous look about it which I haven't been able to get totally comfortable with. So I'm curious to see what the TSi3 brings in looks based on your review. My pro shop has a Titleist fitting cart and they let us demo the heads on-course so I'm keen to take one out.

Currently playing 917D3 but have had a rotten time driving for some time now - however, this is undoubtedly down to my poor swing technique, and I have invested in some lessons first (as/when/if lockdown ends) & then I will look at making a change - even moving away from Titleist if I can find something that suits - that, however, is easier said than done in the golfing wilderness that is Ipswich!

I've always thought replacing a driver every 3 years is about right for an amateur golfer, would you agree? these stats would appear to back that up. I'm currently using a ping g400 which I'll probably replace this year as that mark is up for me in september and when I tried the G410 I couldn't see much difference. I suppose the only difference would be if you made dramatic improvements in swing speed, even then a new shaft might be enough?

If you compare good shots against good shots from drivers released over the last 5-8 years there will be minimal differences in carry. What virtually every reviewer fails to comment enough about is the statistical significance of differences in carry distances. 3 yards (just over 1%) in carry over 7 yards is not statistically significant, certainly not worth paying £400-500 to replace the driver. For me, and the reason I am contemplating changing my 4 year old Epic, is how bad strikes perform and how stable (or not) such strikes feel to the player. Catch the Epic slightly out of the toe - or worse significantly into the toe - and the club head really twists in my hands
