Great report, we love Slovenia. We have a VW T3 Syncro and when we stayed in Bohinj, we parked on a sand bar in the lake, just visible under the surface on the left of one of your drone shots. This put us in front of all the big white gin palaces parked on every inch of shoreline. We went on the boat along the lake and met a huge group celebrating and they fed us schnapps at 10 o’clock! We will be going back in 2023!

You have some amazing footage showing the wide and varied beauties of Slovenia. It is my favourite place to visit and have been 35 times since 1999 always staying in a family run Penzion in Kranjska Gora and renting a car to visit other area's. Always planned to visit the Kozjak waterfall but not got round to it yet.

Lake Cerknica is a unique intermittent lake. When you were there, the water level was low. However, when it is filled with water, it is the largest Slovenian lake.

For the problem of driving a large camper van from Bohinj to the Soča Valley, there is a better solution: motorail train (you can find it on Google). It runs several times per day from Bohinjska Bistrica to Most na Soči, and it's quite a spectacular experience. In this way, you can avoid the difficult narrow road over the Soriška planina mountain pass. Definitely that road is not suitable for such a large vehicle. :-) I enjoyed your video -- very well done, thank you!

Thanks for your comment, I'm glad we are getting a lot of compliments for our video quality. I'm very happy with it. The footage is shot on a NIKON Z6 II (geni.us/nikonz6ii) All footage is shot in non-Log, but in Flat colour profile, later I cut and post in Final Cut with Hawaiki and Epicolor. But I always try to get the colours realistic and not too over exaggerated. All who have visited, you should also go to Zlati Grič in Slovenske Konjice, the town itself also beautiful, there is also a castle not yet fully rebuild so watch your steps on the older parts. Also, close to Slovenske Konjice you have Zreče with a Big hotel, wellness, swiming ect. and there up the mountain you have Rogla, where you can go skiing in the winter or visit the big tower with a good glance and view. Next you can go to Maribor Pohorje or at least hinking it! below the skiing or hiking site there is a restoraunt with good food, below that when you come close to the place there is a roundabout and after the roundabout on the right tere is a cafee with cakes and/or in the summer 1 building after that there is delicous ice cream! Also in Maribor you have the Lent place loceated on the coast of the river Drava, as of now its beeing rebuilt completely, but in 1 or 2 years it should be a marvel just to sit there and enjoy! There are also restoraunts, cafee's ect. Go to The city of Ptuj, the oldest City in Slovenia! Also go to City of Celje, there you can see the Castle and the City also close to Celje is Laško, some 15-20min drive from Celje and there you can Visit the Castle and has a restoraunt there. And a little tip, all those places exept Ptuj directly have hiking places! Ptuj has a Rover Lake you can walk around it, Maribor has the Pohorje, Slovenke Konjice have the Konjiška Gora ect :)

I'm going to Slovenia in September for 2 weeks on a solo trip, where do you recommend that I base myself? I don't have a driver's license so I can only use public transport. I want to see as much nature as possible.

Hi, i've been in sLOVEnia lots of times and i recomend you to palce yourself in capital city of Ljubljana. It may cost you few euros more then being in other places, but it pays...from there you can travell along the country, using public transport, like bus or train and you can get everywhere you like by it. Longest trip by train, wich is the slowest, takes you about 2 hours, getting to the west (coast or Soca valley) and east (Prekmurje) and about an hour to the north (lake Bled, lake Bohinj) and south (Kocevje, Dolenjska)...have a nice trip, i lived in Slovenia for some time and i loved it :) people are great, so is the landscape

from Bohinj to Tolmin with a camper van you sould have used a car-train from Bohinjska Bistrica to Most na Soči. you were not welll informed enough!

It is not called Palatchinken but Palachinke. It is classical very thin french crapes stuffed with various stuffings, while pancake is american invention where they are small, thick mand pured over with toppings. Otherwise, it is very nice video, because you show other thing, not just typical tourist traps like Bled lake or Ljubljana, but Kranjska Gora, lake Jasna and so on. Happy that some foregners actually discover my country as it should.

We want to visit Slovenia with our camper this year. Did you not make any reservations on the campsites at all? Or did you use parkfornight stops also?

No, we didn't make any reservations beforehand as we wanted to decide spontaneously where to go. This worked quite well in July. But the coastal region is very crowded in the high season, and therefore bookings would be recommended. Park4Night is a good way to find alternatives when a desired location is fully booked. Also we simply used the telephone sometimes in the morning, to make sure that a desired campsite has available spaces free when we arrive there or to make a spontaneous reservation for the evening hours.
