WARNING : Do not "wiggle wiggle wiggle" your wheel on your truck to get the bearing off, there is a chance you'll strip your truck threads. I was doing it, and half way through I was like, wait this can't be good for the threads, and I looked and saw them being damaged. Screwing the bolt back on was tougher than normal because of it. Instead take a flathead screwdriver, and put the head on the spacer inside the wheel that's floating around and hit something against the screwdriver to pop it out. The spacer can take it, the truck threads can't. Great video, just that one bad tip

Great vid, thanks! I recently bought the 120 CloudWheels for the Flex Riot directly from CloudWheel website, and it shipped with the 4 wheels, 44T pulley (2x), 2 bigger belts (280-5M-15), 4 pairs of bearings, and 2 belt covers that fit those wheels perfectly (without having to do extra cutting on those belt covers). Just wanted to provide an update on this. They help make the install super easy now, which also means no need to “wiggle” out the old bearings 🤙🏽

Just another tip, as someone who's worked in manufacturing and maintenance for years, for maximum effectiveness, nylon locknuts should never be reused. It's a good idea to take one from your board to a hardware store and grab a handful of them to keep at home. Every time you pull a wheel you throw a new nut on.

the tightening of the wheels must not be too strong, because when you come across a hole, it can lead to overloading and cracking, and the second reason is that the screws can slip! from the technical point of view, how much you have to tighten the wheel, it will always rotate equally because there is a spacer between the two bearings. all in all a very good video! Respect!

Hi and thank you for the guide. I was wondering where did you get the pulley with the same size as the standard one for EXWAY FLEX. I received my Cloudweels yesterday with 44T pulleys so bigger than the standard ones. Now the motor covers do not fit because the belt is too much spread. The belt itself is to lose and I can't see a way to tighten it moving the motor. On Cloudweel site I can only see that 37T is for Backfire I was wondering if they fit with the standard belt. Have a nice day, hope the typhoon is over soon.

Nice video ! Was wondering how you can adjust the belt tension on the flex. Already saw your video about belt tension. But on the Flex, I can’t move the motors a lot.. Like the belts are kind oh tight, can’t loose them even a bit..
@DanielKwan4 жыл бұрын
On some boards the amount you can adjust is very small (like less than 0.5 cm). That’s normally fine because the difference between tight and loose is really small. The belts on my unit are only a little bit tighter than I prefer so I didn’t bother with adjusting them, so I’m actually not sure what tensioning is like on this board. (Or maybe I forgot I adjusted them.) I know the slots are small though.

Question: Just changed from AT tires to smaller Cloudwheels and noticed that, with the recommended change in ratio-settings, the braking power of my board got somewhat weaker. Is there any point in experimenting with the ratio settings, or do you just screw up your odometer (mile-counter) ? Wouldn't mind a bit more wear & tare for a dash of PREMIUM braking / acceleration, but if it's purely a measuring thing ...
@DanielKwan Жыл бұрын
What board are you using? Most boards nowadays let you tweak parameters to reflect changes in gears or wheels so that they can still estimate speed and distance. You can try increasing the gear ratio (generally a bigger wheel pulley) to increase brake power but that also increases acceleration and decreases top speed. I think changes in brake power may be less apparent than acceleration and speed tho, at least from what I’ve experienced but I wasn’t paying much attention to that difference.

Cool video, thx) Btw, which cloudwheels is better: 105 or 120 mm for Exway Flex? And what the difference between them in ride experience?
@DanielKwan4 жыл бұрын

I bought my 1st board. It's the omw cavalry with 7in wheels. Are the bearings the same size as a regular skateboard? I am thinking on upgrading the stock bearings.
@DanielKwan3 ай бұрын
The two common axle diameters for electric skateboards are 8mm and 10mm. 8mm is the same as regular skateboards and more common. You’ll need to check what your board uses. Unless something is wrong with your bearings, I doubt you’ll notice any difference from upgrading them.

Hello Daniel! I have question. I plan to buy some good allterrain skateboard - not premium but anyway it is not cheap purchase. Basing on that I expect that it will work for me for several season and it is my main doubt. So the question is how long will the modern skateboard work? How to maintain it in the cold seasons when you dont use it? Usually company provide 90-180 days warranty
@AlexeyKhludeev4 жыл бұрын
I know that the skateboard life is vary depending on many factors but in common - how long time are the modern batteries could work?
@DanielKwan4 жыл бұрын
Normally the battery gradually becomes weaker. You can think of it as 500 charge cycles but some people get way more than that (and some less). Depends on the battery and the user.

@DanielKwan3 жыл бұрын
Wave’s stock wheel pulleys have 36 teeth. You should be able to use 36t or 44t for Cloudwheels (I use 36t on Wave). You need longer belts if you use 44t. Belt covers aren’t essential. On boards where I change pulleys/belts somewhat frequently, I leave them off.
