"It's not really a category that a word is either regular or irregular. It's more of a spectrum.
It's really difficult because when you have these two different terms [regular and irregular], it makes it sound like there's nothing in common with these words, that you can't treat them the same way, or even that you couldn't decode an irregular word. But you can because there are always some grapheme phoneme correspondences. There's always something in there that is regular or something that, some way that you can get to a pronunciation."
