Thanks, Danielle. If I could watch a whole album of Dimash performing in exactly this environment, no one would be able to find me for at least a year. All of the little details we miss in other settings are stunning, and maybe Dimash focuses on them even more completely when he knows we can hear them. Can you imagine hearing his breath work in "Ave Maria" in this studio?? "Ikanaide" has become my favourite performance from Dimash.

This was another very enjoyable reaction. This is quickly becoming one if not the favorite Dimash performance for me and it invokes a very visceral response in me, just as "Ave Maria" did. Dimash sang (and recorded) "Ikanaide" live for the Tokyo Jazz Festival Live stream in January of 2021. According to several native Japanese speakers, Dimash's pronunciation of the lyrics is nearly flawless. One native speaker, who gave a detailed analysis, stated that he is "expressing Japanese more (better) than Japanese" and that he does not only perfectly pronounce Japanese but "expresses Japanese…with Japanese emotion.". Goro Matsui, who wrote the lyrics to "Ikanaide," posted on his Twitter account that he has never heard a foreigner sing in Japanese in such a beautiful way. Tamaki Kōji composed the music and performed the song in 1989. "Ikanaide" became the title song for the Chinese-Japanese TV series "Farewell, Li Xianglan," filmed that year. It is the story of Yoshiko Yamaguchi, a beloved Chinese-born Japanese actress and singer during World War II who hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan. Following the war, when the Chinese became aware of her Japanese heritage, she was accused of being a spy and sentenced to death by firing squad for treason and collaboration with the Japanese; she had been involved in the production of Japanese propaganda films. Thanks to the intervention of influential friends, she was cleared of all charges but urged to leave China or risk being lynched. She resettled in Japan, where she would continue to enjoy a successful acting career. In the 1950s, she moved her acting career to Hollywood and Broadway under the name Shirley Yamaguchi but returned to Japan in 1959, retiring from acting. She would go on to become a TV presenter and eventually a politician. She did not return to China for nearly 20 years. In 1990, "Ikanaide" was translated into Cantonese and sung by Jacky Cheung using the same melody. Later, the song was rewritten and translated for Jacky Cheung to Mandarin under the title "Late Autumn." In 2004 the Taiwanese singer Terry Lin adapted the song into a new version titled "In Deep Autumn," with lyrics written by Daryl Yao. Dimash chose the 2004 Taiwanese version arranged by Terry Lin with Mandarin lyrics for his performance at the 2017 "I Am A Singer" competition but gave it his own interpretation and titled it "Autumn Strong." This song went on to earn Dimash the "Best Foreign Singer" award during the Golden Melody Award in Hong Kong.

I saw an interview with Dimash and he said this was his favourite song to perform at the moment. It is so beautiful and let’s us here some things we don’t usually get to here. It has this beautiful sort of ebb and flow, feeling a bit like Ave Maria that gentle in and out or up and down whatever it is. So soothing. Love seeing your excitement and appreciation. Can you imagine what it must feel like to be him, to be able to create such stunningly beautiful sound.

Gentle piece of help: when pronouncing Japanese words written in English, every vowel is pronounced. So Ikanaide has 5 syllables-Eee-cahn-ah-eee-day 💜 Edited to add: each IKANAIDE is meant to be sung with a different emotion. The lyricist of the piece said Dimash was the first non-native speaker to understand that and execute is properly. A Canadian Dear 🦌🇨🇦💜🇰🇿

A simple tip for pronouncing almost all non English languages Syllables pause on the vowels (English pause on the consonants) i.ka.na.i.de not ikan.aide Pronunciations is Phonetic : ie: A-ark B-ball C-cat D-dog... no Aye Bee Cee Dee etc.

Thanks for another amazing reaction. Ikanaide was used as the title song for a Chinese-Japanese TV series "Farewell, Lixianglan" about a Japanese actress Yoshiko Yamaguchi (12 Feb 1920 - 7 Sept 2014) who was born in China. She hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li Xianglan. She became famous in China during World War II. However, once the war was over and her identity was revealed, she was accused of being a spy and was deported to Japan. She didn't return to China for many years. Ms Yamaguchi did return to China in her later years as the Japanese Parliamentary Vice Minister of Environment. This song is saying goodbye to her Chinese name Li Xianglan. It is also a metaphor, as the lyrics speak of how a person has to hide what she feels inside. In 1993, Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung adapted it into Mandarin with the meaning of the song different from that of the original. He called it Late Autumn. In 2004 the Taiwanese singer and Dimash's friend, Terry Lin, adapted the song into a new Mandarin version entitled "Autumn Strong”. Dimash performed the Terry Lin version (Autumn Strong) when he participated in the 2017 The Singer competition in China. He sang it in Episode 4 of the competition and it was his first time singing in Mandarin. Regarding Dimash’s Japanese performance, a Japanese reactor said that Dimash’s pronunciation was perfect. It was as good as a native speaker’s. It shows how much of a perfectionist Dimash is and how many hours he must have spent on his pronunciation and delivery. In addition, Goro Matsui, who wrote the lyrics to “Ikanaide” praised Dimash’s performance and said: “I’ve heard ‘Ikanaide’ sung by foreign singers in their native language many times. Even though they all sing great, none of them seemed to quite capture the sound/reverberation and meaning of the original lyrics and perceive the emotions between the lines. In this song, the phrase ~ Ah, ikanaide~ is repeated several times in the chorus. Although they are the same exact words, each line has a different meaning. “But this is the first time anyone has sung it so beautifully in Japanese. I happened to find Dimash singing “Ikanaide” by chance. The first thing that surprised me was his crystal clear tone and his expressive voice that conveys the lyrics of the song.”

Hello Danielle, I'm a long time subscriber of yours and I love your reactions especially to Dimash. If I may, I'd like to say I've noticed that you often and your video before the song is complete. In this one for instance, you didn't let it play out to the final note and it happens that you missed out on a very fine point Dimash put on it. Just a final gesture at the very end giving respect to the Japanese people and the fact that this was a Japanese song. Most of us Dears that have been watching and listening to him for years know that a Dimash video is never over until it's over. We've learned that you can miss some very interesting and touching moments if we leave too soon. I would love to see you react to his digital show performances of Give Me Love and Qaragym Ai. Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than Ten(10) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "POPera" he also has a very pleasant, HUMBLE and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, counter TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato, whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from USA 🇺🇸 "Dears" Forever ❤️ Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. The Chinese (Autuumn Strong) and Japanese (Ikanaide/ Please, Don’t Go) versions have completely different lyrics.. Both are based on a true story. The Chinese version shows the image of leaves dancing in the autumn wind as a metaphor for how fate affected Yoshiko Yamaguchi's life. ...sad but inevitable and irrevocably The Japanese version does not want to accept the loss, is full of pain, pleads, suffers ... heartbreaking. I'm totally fascinated by how sensitively Dimash distinguishes and conveys to the listener the feelings of sadness and loneliness in the Chinese version and loss and pain in the Japanese version. Even his whisper and his breath are music... it breaks my heart and the tears keep flowing.I have never heard anything like this from a singer in my entire life. That is true mastery. The original Japanese version Ikanaide/ Don’t Go(composed 1989) is by Koji Tamaki (*1958, Japanese songwriter). The sad true story... very touching: It is about Yoshiko Yamaguchi (*1920-2014), a Chinese-born Japanese actress during World War II. She hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan and became famous in China. However, when the war was over and she revealed her identity, she was accused of being a spy. She was deported to Japan and longed for China. Ms. Yamaguchi did not return to China until many years as deputy environment minister in the Japanese parliament. The song is a metaphor as the lyrics speak of how a person should hide what they are feeling. Koji Tamaki sent a wonderful message to Dimash, thanking him, and praising him for singing his song in Japanese. Vbloggers, they reacted to the original by Koji Tamaki, they are mesmerized and can't stop listening to him. He wrote many wonderful melodies - you should check it out: Koji Tamaki 2021, Ikanaide - kzbin.info/www/bejne/haHKn4BogsiWebM In 1993, Jacky Cheung (*1961, singer and actor in Hongkong) adapted the song into Chinese Mandarin, calling it Late Autumn: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqWwY3ipnK13aa8 The most famous interpretation In China (first performance at the Singer 2017) was that of Dimash Qudaibergen and it was his first time to sing in Chinese mandarin: Dimash - Autuumn Strong - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZ7MY5aMns-Xg9E This song brought Dimash the 'Best Foreign Singer' award at the Golden Melody Award 2017 (equivalent to the Grammy) in Hong Kong. * Great performance (Chinese version) of Dimash from Kiev 11.03.2020, the last concert before Corona paralyzed everything: kzbin.info/www/bejne/amSaenipea6NnKc * Other version of Dimash: In Moscow on March, 2019 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5bag2t4pMhlZ6s

Although originally a Japanese song, Dimash had the song rewritten and composed in Chinese (Autumn Strong) to sing a Chinese singing competition. Later, he had the song rearranged and written to suit the original Japanese lyrical song (not Disney-like). So, can you imagine the complexity and the nuances required to sing this song CORRECTLY in both languages! His perfect pitch has served him extremely well in singing so many songs in multiple languages. I'm sure all opera singers will attest to the difficulty of having to sing a song in different languages.

You’ll recognize this arrangement, if you’ve listened to Autumn Strong, where he sang the same song, but in Chinese, instead of Japanese. You need to do a back to back reaction of Autumn Strong the Gloria Wu video. There is a huge story that goes back to the mid 1900s, and that’s all explained in Gloria Wu’s edit of Autumn Strong. Всегда вижу Ошико Ямагучи Ли Синнь. ДИМАШ гений одну песню Коджи Тамаки спел и на китайском языке и на Японском. Канечно слова разные. Ошико красавицу помнят в Китае и Японии.

I know I am probably not the first, suggest you react to Diana Ankudinova.....If Dimash is the sun, Diana is the moon. The young Russian singer (18 now) has an incredible voice, and she is often called the Queen of Goosebumps due to her unreal voice and incredible Tambre/harmonics. Suggest Cant Help Falling in Love (she was 18), Wicked Game (15), Rechenka (13), The Way (18}, The Crow (18), or Blizzard (16).
