Last evening I find the Putting Lesson You Will Ever Need on youTube. Today I had a Senior Completion on My club Tranås GK. I practice your advice on putting green and I felt directly that this will help me. Today I did my very best round this year with a 67 net and only 31 putts. I totally agree with you that tis is the only drill you ever need.

My putting was going wayward this year and costing me greatly.. These are great tips Danny. A great reminder to get back to the basics and stick to the routine. Will be ‘putting’ this into practice over the summer break ready for the new year of golf. Merry Christmas from Aus and keep up the great work.

Danny, just used your tip about putting posture. Noted I was too upright and kept pushing all my putts. Once I correct my posture as you described (putting my head straight down ) . I started hitting all my putts Straight. Just got back from shooting my best round of the year and no 3 putts! Thank you.

On Monday, at the golf range, I mentioned this video to my playing partner, especially your 1-2-3-4 routine. Then I decided to apply the exercise to my practice - I was using my driver. I usually slice my driver shots. Applying your little 1-2-3-4 exercise, focusing on the 100yd post, I hit the ball straight over the the post with my driver on 7 of 10 shots. It all needs more work, but I think I'll keep using that routine and apply to my game in the spring.

Great video Danny! The thing i struggle the most is figuring out how to adjust the distance when a putt is uphill/downhill. My distance on a flat putt is usually "ok" (within a foot/foot and half) but as soon as i've got the same distance with a bit of an uphill, i very often fail to adjust, leaving the putt 5 foot short, or blasting it past the hole. Would love to see tips on how to gauge the slope and adjust the stroke length/speed accordingly. Unless it's all a matter of feel!
@lazyaznmofo17
@lazyaznmofo17 Жыл бұрын
If it's a slow ish group, take a walk and circle around the ball and pin, this will allow you to see the slope from all angles. And it is just on feel as most public courses in your area will have very varying greens that need a different touch. Make sure to use the practice green and not just the range prior to a round

HI DANNY, ITS ME AGAIN , I REFER TO YOUR CHIPPING VID WITH MY COMMENT. Like you but upto covid I was one of the best putters in the club 28 putts a round , but covid killed my mother and with her my putting . Now I am chopping and changing my three putters every two months as all three seem to be closed and I can not buy a straight putt . Today in a match my team mate holed a 15 ft putt for birdie I missed first a 5 ft one. Is there a legal way to open the face or AS I HAVE SEEN ON KZbin IS MY EYE DOMINENT ON MY LEFT , I AM A RIGHT HAND GOLFER, PAUL

@jonmarsh8172 Жыл бұрын
Hi Danny I have a left dominant eye do I place my left over the ball or should I be central
@Alex-zc8nr
@Alex-zc8nr 4 күн бұрын
Best thing I've come to realize are these points: 1) If you were to roll a ball with your dominate hand, you'll know how much power to give it to get it to the hole. You can use the same muscle memory with your putter, your dominant trailing arm providing the power and follow through as if you were to roll it. This will ensure consistency on the power of your putts. 2) Keep your eye focused on the ball until after you've putt and followed through. This will ensure accuracy. I see so many Golfers pull their head up to watch the putt right as they strike it, which throws off accuracy and power The best way I can further describe #2 is, as an interior painter when I am cutting in an edge, my eye remains on the brush edge but also sort of a blank stare at it so I can watch just in front, and just behind the brush. This same principal is applied when striking the golf ball, you will ensure you are hitting your putter dead straight everytime, and taking into account #1 for power, you'll achieve some great putts.

Danny, thanks for this. It helped me in my last Medal Competition. However, some years ago I developed the "Yips". I tried several ways to alleviate this affliction but recently it seems to have come back with a vengeance. Do you have any advice for what someone with the "Yips" can do>
@DanielMaude
@DanielMaude Жыл бұрын
I do indeed, close your eyes..:you won’t tip it. Remember yips are caused by a concern over what is about to happen. Practice doing things that keep you in the present moment over the ball. We’ve all had them at one stage or another The first key in removing them is to let the result go. It’s not always easy to do, but the only thing that is going to help you home or putts and stop yipping is to concentrate on the present and what will be will be.

Great advice as always, BUT, if I may make so bold, I can't agree with the comment about "reading" the putt sideways. Surely it's better to stand or squat behind the ball, look for the line with binocular vision, choose a spot within your peripheral vision when addressing the ball and roll the ball over that spot. Everything else in the videos is absolutely spot on. I just don't think you can line up a putt looking at it sideways.

like the 1,2,3,4 sequence - I’ve had good results on distance control with lag putts with making the look back from the target to the ball, and the backswing, into one motion - effectively merging the 2 and 3 of your sequence into one. I don’t do it all the time, but one to try

This is very good advice for most people. It’s a typical modern setup, and stroke. However, I changed something one day, and had the best putting day of my life. 23 total putts, for a -7(65). I had been struggling to make putts, so I set up like Jack Nicklaus almost as a joke, on the first hole. Feet close together, and feet very open to target. From there, I just sorta pushed the ball onto my start line. The results were amazing. 13 one-putts(some for par). I don’t recommend this for everyone, but it not only allowed me to see my line better, but it also allowed me to start the ball exactly on that line. I’ve since gotten away from it, and have been struggling again. I think I’ll go back to that weird way of putting, and see what happens. lol

Here is a tip from pool I use to put to piggy back off of center of the ball (billiards) over your gaze like you said. Figure out which is your dominant eye. Make a diamond with your hand to just cover everything except a round object in the distance. Now close your left eye and then your right eye. The eye that keep the ball in view is your dominant eye. Now, put that eye over the ball, not your nose nor so it seems to be in the middle. Dominant eye then open both. You will now aim where you meant to and hitting it more square.

I typically always pinched my shoulders blades together without noticing. Awesome tip I did not even know I needed! @@DanielMaude

Hi Danny, I need your advice re putter. I am petite. I understand putters need to be only half to 1" longer than foot-to-wrist length, which for me is 29”. Unfortunately, there is no putter that measures 30” (most ladies putters measure 32" or 33”), and if I shorten them, I was told by Callaway/Odyssey reps that first, the stroke lab shaft cannot be shortened and second, that even steel shafts if shortened would be messed up due to the change in weight. What would be the best approach to this, stick to the long putter of 32”?

My putting not too bad. Had a lesson to improve it and the pro said everything was good except I'm not keeping the putter almost flat to the ground back and through. Trying to do that it's hard not to sway off ball and direction and distance control went out the window. Watching you in that video your strike doesn't stay close to the ground. His drill was an extra ball 12 inches behind on the line which I had to make contact with. It's impossible without swaying 🙄. Any advice please? Ps, tell it as it is, I won't say anything to the pro lol.

I liked the intro. It,s me. However, I have used a split-grip long putter for 35 years. I do not anchor anymore. My putting is pretty good. My distance control is outstanding. My issue is short putts. Do you have any suggestions for the use of the long putter? One issue I have is a consistency of follow through to the target. Also knowing I'm lined up correctly on short putts.

It's interesting that Danny "never" states what brand putter we need! Just a solid technique to achieve a repeatable stroke! Guess I don't need a $300 putter??

Definitely John can spend all the money in the world but if you don’t have a good technique there’s no point 👍⛳️

@@DanielMaude I've been telling friends this for years, but they always seem to fall for "great marketing" . Personality I use a 90s Tad Moore TM-2 I paid $25 for at a thrift store. I cleaned it with white vinegar and re-painted it with my wife's fingernail polish.

@@johnmartin4332 25 bucks at a thrift store seems expensive, did you try to bargin them down to .50 cents?

Yep! One of the best putters I had was a centre-shafted Donnay, which cost me 350p (that’s £3.50) - it’s still in my loft, and was only replaced by a 2nd hand Odyssey White Hot #5, which my mate sold me for £30 abound 15-20y ago. I might give it another whirl, when I get back from my holiday😊

Danny love your tips except this one. No arc, square to square. Head behind the ball, hit the ball on the up stroke for s good roll. Arms and elbows together and hanging in front of the chest. Putt with the shoulders,

Great video as always! I don't see a practice guide link on this one though and I don't find one in the list on your website. Am I missing something? Thanks!

Just allign feet parallel with your line. That area is the spot and putt around 6 feet speed for 6feet distance. If you hit that area consistently, then you'll make 1 putt more often, and lots of 2 putt tap in and eliminate 3 putts for sure. Beliesve me.

Meant to say, this (head) is something I’ve never done. Very useful. Never seen the putting mirror before and can’t find it on internet. Any idea Danny

Thank you again for another great tip. You introduced me to Peter Cowens with your chipping video. I am wondering why you, in this video differentiate what Pete teaches in the putting stroke. Pete uses the straight back and forth like Brett Snedeker. I would like to know why you think your method is better. Keep up the great work you do and I love your videos.

I shortened my Scotty's from 35 to 33.5 and found arms hang more naturally and can see down the line better, most people may have their putters too long so they aren't over the ball correctly
