How do you achieve an Effortless Golf Swing? - One way is to learn how to transfer your weight in the backswing and the downswing. I personally love this drill. Its wonderful at getting the all important feel of what you should be doing.
Part of the drill I took form world long drive champion Kyle Berkshire. Don't worry though you don't have to have his physical body to make it work...I promise 😁

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZbin and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

This drill along with the "How To Hit the Ball Then The Turf With Your Irons - Magic Drill" ..I don't think I have hit irons so nicely...ever. I play an old set of Mizuno T Zoid blades and my 7 iron is 35 degree loft. After these 2 drills (yes I spent a few hours on each drill at home before going to the range), I have brought down the ball flight from 110 ft to about 90 ft, the control is amazing, the shot shape is amazing and the power is effortless. I was hitting my 7 iron as far if not a bit more and felt like I was not even trying. i can hardly wait to get a few more ranges sessions in because this feels like I can hit it as hard as I want with little effort. Thanks for the great video series!

I was an 8 handicap many years ago. I stopped playing for the past 4 years. I have been playing again for past 3 months and my game is horrible. I could no longer feel comfortable with the weight transfer. I had zero power, was very inaccurate and was hitting fat and thin shots. I watched this and went to the range today...and it was a miracle. I was super consistent. No more fat shots. I had my old power back. I put 6 balls in a row within 10 feet of a 120 yard pin with a front bunker that I had to fly 115 to get over the back lip. Unreal. The power and high loft on my irons is back. Thank you so much. Golf is fun again.

Hi Danny - there has always been something missing in my golf swing, that is until I came across this lesson yesterday. I've always known my weight transference was an issue and I was never able to get the sequence quite right, that is till now. I've just been down to the range and WOW what a difference. Never have I hit so many balls consistently from irons to hybrid to fairway woods to driver. Without trying to hit the skin off the ball my distances dramatically increased, it just felt so natural. I cannot thank you enough - may I suggest you re-post this lesson as I'm sure that I'm not the only one that has this issue - either way keep up the good work - thank you again

Mr Maude, I want to thank you for the down to earth, simple and straight forward instructions! With three episodes for Seniors, I FINALLY understand the EXACT elements of the golf swing! Your drills really improved my swing which improved my contact, distance and control! I have been playing for 5 years and now KNOW how to swing AND can “feel” when that swing is correct! I have added consistency, distance and accuracy! Can’t wait now to get out and play!

I have to be honest, I've been learning to single plane golf swing from videos about Moe Norman and it has transformed my game. I am now making solid contact all the time and the ball flies perfectly straight and the biggest and best part there is no pain in my back after a round of golf. I'm 58 and I shoot anywhere from 90 to 100. Now I have been shooting my lowest of 84 and 90 is now my top score.

Hiya Danny, the simplicity of this explanation is overwhelming. Brilliant sir. After a pretty serious accident 8 years ago which kept me away from golf for 2 years I lost a lot of my swing and I made change after to change to try and get back to my low single figure level. No chance. I couldn’t see why there was a complete lack of consistency, loss of distance and erratic ball striking. I visited a local Pro whom I’m friendly with and straight away he spotted no real rotation and, therefore, no transference. I thought that turning and clearing etc would worsen then pain so I guess subconsciously I’d stopped this. Ive been working on this for a while now and it’s returning and the pain is actually less than the “Steve” rigid army swing you described was creating. Again thank you Danny for your fine efforts and brilliant videos. Good luck you

Over the winter I have been working hard with my pro to improve my game and get out of old habits. Its a process of several steps forward and invariably a step or two backwards, usually to my old habits. One is all arms and not turning properly and my mind goes to mush and I cant remember all that I had learnt. All I have been able to do is walk away and come back later. Just tried the shift push in the garden and it really worked in reinforcing the correct turn. It was so simple Thanks Danny

Could never find a way to transfer my weight onto my front foot until now. Fantastic lesson Danny! After a short practice of your method, for the first time ever, I was able to hit my 5 iron 175 off the tee. I also carried my 8 iron 135 yards onto the green. In fact, all my shots are going longer and I'm not losing my accuracy. My iron play has always been my weak point and now I know I can reduce my handicap from 19 to 14 next year. Thank you.

So I spent the whole of the past month trying to break down the mechanics of the swing and how to to get a smooth repeatable swing and I came to the conclusion the golf swing is like throwing a ball and the body swings round with a weight shift. and that body motion and weight shift is exactly what you a describing here! so much more smoothness in the transition and consistency has shot straight up. I totally agree with this message and really believe this exercise is the foundation of a repeatable easy golf swing! good stuff danny! and also funny how i come up with my own theory and conclusion and this video with the same message comes out haha

Good work Danny, I realised that in my efforts to follow instructions about alignment, releasing the wrists, disassociating swing from the body, I was not moving my body much at all. Such a simple exercise that helps to establish the correct rotation, I sometimes fail to rotate the hips on the backswing and end up rotating only my torso. Or not putting enough preassure on my left foot in the downswing causing the dreaded slice mentioned in the vid. Can note that this exercise works very well with a "tempo trainer club" i.e. one of those "clubs" with a weight at the end and a rubber shaft. Forces the body to keep a reasonable tempo during the exercise or else the club will backfire and make you sway.

I thought I was shifting weight and coiling alot but my pro wants me to do even more! I agree that it is much more than perhaps most people realise. The problem I had was the rhythm and sequencing of all this through the full swing. Danny's brilliantly simple drill just makes so much sense and the penny finally dropped for me. Beautiful instruction Danny! Combine this with light grip pressure and you will crush the ball with a center strike as long as posture is correct. My thought is Shift, Turn, Shift Turn. Both weight shifts need to be early in the backswing and early before completing the downswing.

This was probably the best lesson I’ve learnt. I went to the range and started doing this and the compression and hit was amazing. The ball flight was fantastic and it felt effortless. The other lesson was about keeping my back to the target for a little longer. Awesome Combo. But... its easy to forget. I went to play today and couldn’t do it consistently. Danny please advise drills to help with this feeling. I have never hit the ball better when i keep my back to the target for a split second longer and do the foot pedal turn. I want to train my brain to do this naturally. The urge to rush the downswing throws everything away! Thank you for the great videos!

I realized I have been golfing pretty leg locked for the last 15 years or so. I only play a few times a year but I would tend to just keep my head and eyes dead set on the ball having a very non fluid "old man swing" even though Im only a few years from 40. I am attempting to swing more fluidly but ended up hurting my groin as I tried to push up in my front leg. Still a work in progress. I did find though my balls went a bit straighter and definitely got more loft. I have a lot of work to do and i'll try this exercise out.

Since we are „trapped „ in Florida, our flight back home is cancelled, please do a daily training Danny! Another piece of the puzzle today. What i am starting to find out is the importance of the wrist position. It determines where the clubface is in space and if its going to be a square touch or not, with the (very clever) body reacting and correcting. Great video. I have been struggling so much with my swing as I get poor strike and bad distance. I've tried so much lately and getting worse. But think I have lost so much confidence and think down to my static posture because of it. This video really feels better about where pressure points should be.

Danny, Just love your videos and teaching methods. You have a wonderful ability to break things down presenting them in a way that's easy to understand. Your drills then reinforce the methods that you are want your readers to learn and use. Of all the videos and multiple lessons that I've had.....I've learned the most from your video instruction. Many Thanks.

Love this one. Our relationship with the ground - and how it counter-balances the downswing is still greatly overlooked in modern golf instruction. Especially as it pertains to the back foot. I am still very interested in seeing a video as to the possible benefits of allowing the head to turn away from the ball - toward the target- at impact (you at min. 7:36)
@DanielMaude

Im not sure there is a benefit for turning the head away towards the target at impact. In fact for me it can cause my spine to tilt backwards.

@@DanielMaude I have noticed a lot of Pros doing this on their practice swing. My sense is that it helps to free up the swing. Here is an example with Dustin Johnson: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHqViJ-boLN3kJo

You really have a gift Danny of being able to break down golf for amateurs like myself you have improved my game phenomenally and I can't say thank you enough. Your videos have helped me explode through the ball and fixed my chipping issues i was having just by watching a few 10 minute videos. You just have a great way of explaining things through and bringing back key points to take with you in the end. Great job Danny keep it up!

Nice Video clip! Forgive me for chiming in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you heard about - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (do a search on google)? It is a great one off guide for revealing an effortless golf swing technique without the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my m8 finally got cool results with it.

Great drill. And you are so right about how hard it is to break a habit. I wear work boots and they were constantly coming untied without double knotting. I read that a reverse tie would prevent the untie (which it does by the way ;) It took a long time where I didn't have to think about it, but it did become automatic.

Actually, look up reef knot. Best knot to tie boots and shoes. Stays tight all day and unties like a regular knot. Also, Danny, great tip to feel proper weight transfer. When you swing without this feel it gives immediate feedback.

Another great video Danny getting there but my word it takes practice and lots of great it.it’s the stalling at impact. Even though I let go with the arms it’s getting the body to follow. What I have. Realised is slow and forget about distance swing easy takes time but getting there slow but sure many thanks chris

Hi Danny, I love your videos. They have inspired me to overhaul my swing aver the last couple weeks. Your videos combined with Ben Hogan's book - 5 lessons have made me think about it in a whole new way. I'd say it's 75% mental right now, although I can feel the weight transfer and whip action. I’ve played golf in and off for many years. I can hit the ball long but with no consistency of direction. I’ve just come back from the driving range where I tried hitting the ball using this drill. By the end the results were fantastic - as long as I transferred the weight back , did a full turn and didn’t start the downswing with my upper body. The latter is still my big battle. I’m excited about how I hit the ball!! Can you please point me towards a video that helps with how to start the downswing with the legs and not the shoulders - luv ur work!!!
