@@oscarhinojosa4712 i am 1600 online and I started playing otb when I was around 1400 online. But a 2000 fide player is 2300 online... The main question is in what kind of tournament you want to play. I would say above 1500 is good enough to start playing otb and get an official rating!

You can start playing OTB NOW. Why do you want to wait and play alone at home? You'll learn so much from these long games and club players are really helpful. Sorry but it's bs to say 1500 or any other number.

It's really good to see you start posting more of these speedrun games more often again. I can't say I get a ton of value from these lower level games but I do get some and honestly with the way my life is right now your content helps my crippling depression and suicidal contemplations. Being a homeless veteran with ptsd and bipolar 1. Bipolar 1 is basically a death sentence in todays culture and your content is about the only thing that helps me hold on even the slightest. Honestly wish I had substance abuse problems as those people are cared for more than those like me even though bipolar 1 is the worst mental health disorder after schizophrenia. Often times I think I should just start getting into hard drugs and alcohol. Maybe someone would give a shit then and I could get some help. But until I decide to finally end this torture and clock out, your videos have helped more than I can even begin to explain. I just wanted to say thanks.

Since you mentioned it, I'd love to see you dismantle the Alien gambit! I know it's objectively bad and all, but for me as a lower rated Caro-Kann player it surprisingly turned out to be an absolute menace, especially at faster time controls. I know the first couple of steps to counter it, but I still often end up caught in the ensuing complications and at the very least get in time trouble. You're so great at explaining things, it'd be awesome to hear your thoughts on practical ways to quickly disarm the threats for lower rated players. Thank you for your videos!

Maybe you’ve seen me before, so I’ll stop spamming you but I’ve never found a vid of yours so early. First, the 5 minute time control is best for teaching fast chess, which is a beautiful and massively complex skill set on its own. I don’t think people benefit from it as much if they aren’t already reflexively seeing a variety of patterns, which probably 99.9% of your audience. Just learning “chess” and demystifying the black box of a GM’s mind is so important- I didn’t understand until watching your series that GMs weren’t seeing some hidden dimension outside of my comprehension, they’re often making concrete moves which culminate in an obviously superior position, the same thing we’re all trying to do. They just see moves quicker, calculate to longer depths, recognize more tactics, make less mistakes. This was a key insight for a lot of us before making that leap from 800 to 1200-1500. Also, your work means a lot to me personally. Never stop doing what you’re doing man. You’re the best.

By the way, if you could somehow advance your rating a bit faster off stream I would encourage it just for the sake of getting interesting games. You are an extremely busy person so I wouldn’t expect you to be grinding a hours of landslide games against noobs for no content. But it would be welcome if you ever considered doing that.

After watching your three previous and Eric Rosen's current speedrun, I'm pretty convinced there are different pools for newbie players. Those two games seemed to be played by opponents brand new at chess, rather than say, 700s who are 700 because they're, delicately, quite bad (but experienced) at chess.

I used to feel that way when I watched Danya play people in my last sticking point rating range because I was watching 1600s and 1700s make blunders against him they never make against me! Just folding and throwing material away like nothing. But its the pressure a GM level player puts on you. When you play good tough moves consistently people fall apart fast. The only difference between experienced 700s and new 700s is maybe a couple moves of opening theory. Otherwise they wouldn't be 700s still.

Quick note of an elephant gambit player. There are a few lines that give white a solid a advantage but the one just find the easiest to ay is e4 e5 nf3 d5 pxd5 e4 qe2 nf6 d3 qxd5 nd2. It is important not to play nc3 which is drawing because after bb4 bd2 bxc3 bxc3 o-o bxf6 white has the in-between move xf3 and white loses.

I think you should really consider starting speedruns from at least 1100-1200 ELO onwards. I don't mean to act arrogant, but these 600 players are so bad that it's very hard even for the beginners to learn something. The first guy literally playes the worst moves on half his turns.

Hey, no idea if you're going to see this. But I'm noticing already you're saying a lot of "we covered this better already in another speedrun." I think this one needs some more identity to avoid that. I'd personally love it if you have an opening repertoire for the run and stick to it entirely, letting people truly pick up the openings you choose for it.
