Something I have wished to cover for a while and a daunting one at that. I adore the other interpretations up on youtube and wanted to give it my own spin. I see it as one of the most obviously uplifting moments in 40k but also, under that surface, one of the saddest, one of the moments the Great Angel really gets to be more fragile, more revealing and more human, at the very end, so I wanted to try and bring that humanity through as much as possible, where he has previously been forced into an idea of being a perfect demi-god for so much of his life. I got really choked up on the bit about how it is Sanguinius's _human_ half that is compelling him to stay. The demigod wants to flee, wants to escape the prophesized death that draws closer with every tick of the clock, but it is the man that draws forth the courage to stay. It would be bad because he only has one way of narrating, he always does that voice that sounds like he is about to cry like he does here (which doesn't fit in this context) and he has no voice acting skills for dialogs since he gives everyone the same voice (I think the term is lacking voice range), it's onedimensional.

The fact that he offered them a chance leave and save themselves, that was touching, more than a primarch he was a father that loved his sons.

There was no where to go. Wastelands were death manifest. Literally. Ignoring the literal toxic waste that choked the whole world, toxic cloud so strong that not even most advanced ships could analyze what was happening on the surface and the ground itself being a wash with disease, rot and dried up land without any water or food… daemons could freely manifest. Needing no anchor. Literally forming physical bodies out of thin, choked air. Not to mention traitor forces wandering about the wastelands everywhere around them. There was no surviving any of that, much less all of it together. And going into the imperial palace? Seemingly a choice. But the second you encountered someone who was supposed to be there and they asked you, why the fuck you aren’t at the walls and you told then “Sanguinius said I could run…” You would be shot on the spot. Assuming, you weren’t killed before you even made it past the gate by superior officers. For those that wanted to run… there was no choice.

Even if their power and achievements were far beneath those near divine beings, at least their courage is great enough to stand among the divine. What greater honor and glory is there for a man than to be comparable to the gods, even if it's just in one thing. Everyone strives to be better at something, to be remembered that they did reach something. Now they have reached the highest level achievable, with evidence at that.

Yes, Ollanius Persson was a perpetual, but in the end he had no special abilities, no magic spells, just the will to go on and a lasgun. Despite Persson's status as a perpetual, his encounter with Horus killed him and nullified his perpetual abilities because his soul was shattered. In the end, the mortal held firm and true. While you both did great i love the contrast in vocal interpretations between your version of Sanguinius in this moment and Epikus's version. His sanguinius's voice was consistent and serene, almost resigned in its tone. Yours on the other hand sounds like he's stumbling over his words trying to improv this speech, like he's actively holding back tears. And both interpretations make prefect sense for sanguinius's character they both feel equally realistic for how he would act in this moment and i love it

I think that DVDO speaks that way because he is extremely unidimensional in his narrations rather than it being an artistic choice, he always does them in the same way, he always does this voice that sounds like he is about to cry lol, even when it doesn't fit like now.
