I'm glad to hear that baldness isn't just in the mother's line. I've been saying for years that I don't believe that, since at least 4 generations of men on my father's side of the family have been bald and started losing hair fairly early.

My husband uses rosemary oil for 7 months and he almost didn’t have hair on top of his head and forehead. Now after 7 months using it once in two days regime his hair grew back, I can’t even see his scalp. I did not believe his hair will grow back but it did . I just want to share his experience. He is very confident man today since he was not happy about loosing hair .

I had severe hair loss during the pandemic and had to go to a dermatologist who gave me scalp injections. And my hair gradually grew back and is now like it is before. But I remember him mentioning to me that the hair loss could occur again in ten yrs??!!

Definitely can be an effective yet expensive procedure for pattern hair loss but tricky that it is hard to assess who will respond to it as some will not respond which is tough after paying so much for this treatment.

Helpful video. I’m a 60-year-old woman and am starting to see a lot of scalp through my hair at the sides of the hairline. Not severe enough for light therapy or even an all over shampoo, but would consider spot treating with Minoxidil. I am very interested in the nutrition/vitamin aspect early in this talk. Perhaps a prompt for a future follow-up. Thanks.
@danielsugaimd4 ай бұрын
Thank you, Kim for watching and for sharing. Topical minoxidil can be a great start for many with your mild to moderate severity. Just part the hair and apply directly to the scalp! Good luck and you’re def right that nutrition and vitamin levels can influence hair and nails 🙏

As a man in my mid 30s without any noticeable hair loss I would like to do anything I can to prevent hair thinning/loss. Are minoxidil or finasteride preventative or only useful once you have some sort of alopecia? Could either trigger alopecia if you use them without any signs of hair loss?
@danielsugaimd4 ай бұрын
I don’t typically prescribe anything as prevention due to side effects and cost. Minoxidil is fairly safe but if it causes irritation of your scalp, it could create a new problem including hair loss.

Dr Sugai please make a easy to understand video telling us what and when to apply the morning products suggested-- Vitamin C -- hyaluronic acid--- moisturizer and sunbock then the nighttime products Retinol- hyaluronic acid and moisturizer, I have the products and I have mature skin...just not sure which goes on when and I think it matters. And is Hyaluronic acid important? Thank you

Thanks for this video. Could you please recommend us which brand of LLLT cap is the most effective according to your clinical practice?

I have not seen specific studies backing up certain brands but anecdotally in my practice, I have seen patients enjoy using iRestore and Capillus (which they purchased through Costco). Thanks for watching!

Dear Dr Sugai, if you read this, does a person have to wear googles with the Laser caps please? I bought a Laser band but not used it yet. As I have got older my health anxiety means that I always worry about the worst case scenario. So in this case I am worrying about the laser affecting my eyes. Sorry if a silly question but any feedback gratefully received. Thank you.

Doctor is it true if you stop using Minoxidil your hair will fall out even more ?
@danielsugaimd4 ай бұрын
Great question- it will just go back to baseline if you stop and you won’t be worse off than if you didn’t do it at all to begin with. Definitely need to stay with it to keep up results though.

Thank you for this but I need so much more information. Can you please do a video on the PRP treatment and hair transplants. I am dealing with Alopecia, and it's devastating. I was diagnosed by one doctor saying Alopecia Androgenetic and another saying it from scaring and Menopause. I have been using Minoxidil 5% for the last 9 months and I have seen some growth in the bald spots but I want to know will my hair ever go back to its original state without a full hair transplant and those are not guaranteed. What makes you a good candidate for a hair transplant or PRP. And is it true that once you start using Minoxidil, you have to continue to use it for the rest of your life?

What are your thoughts about Nutrafol hair growth supplements for women?
@nikollbenford11994 ай бұрын
Hi Dr. Sugai, For women, do you prefer topical minoxidil over oral? I prefer to take a pill, because I'll get lazy about having to apply something topically every day.
@cv79584 ай бұрын
Would love this answer too! I know topical has a safer risk profile since it doesn’t involve systemic absorption but compliance is definitely an issue to consider.

I’m on oral Minoxidil and love the thick hair I have again! After the first month or two I lost a LOT of hair, it was really scary. My dermatologist assured me that it was normal. I stuck with it and love the result. Yes I do have more facial hair. If it bothers me too much I just shave it. For me this is a small price to pay for the full head of hair I have now. And yes you can’t stop taking it. Hope that helps.
