How you make it stick with just speedstick? I wash mine with dish soap and do the same thing you do. Mine, come out super lights barely see it

I bought a 11x17 reelskin and it come with like vaseline all over the front and back , leading in to my next question Can fake skin dry out and how do I properly store it if it won’t be In use for a bit

Yea I have seen that. I don’t mind that process. For me I currently use speed stick and I just saturate the fake skin and take off what I need with a napkin accordingly. I’ve seen multiple people apply it various ways as well so that’s led me to believe it’s pretty forgiving. Do you use Reelskin?

When I use this skin it gets sliced on every line, I've tried everything to mitigate it. Anyone else having the same problem? What do you think @DanielYuck ?

Ive been wondering if anyone else has had this same thing with reelskin. Ive tried every voltage / hand speed and every machine and cartridge / needle grouping I own, but nothing seems to change. I dont have the issue w/ any other medium Ive ever used.

I’ve had this issue a lot with the Pound of Flesh fake skins. Easiest remedy was just turning the voltage down and adjusting your hand speed. Haven’t had any slicing since, and I get clean saturated lines now. Better to go low-and-slow with these fake skins.

Okay. So I am not the best at drawing, but I wanna tattoo. I bought a machine and been practicing on oranges but I doubt that's any good practice.. I'm 27 almost 28 and wondering what I should do. I don't know any artist around me to help me out or anything

I love Reelskin. I never go to deep, because I use both sides to tattoo. The textured side is better to tattoo than the other side- for me personal. I don’t think the Reelskin is to thick, but that’s only my personal opinion.

I am definitely going to use the entire skin back and front to just pull lines and to practice techniques. It’s definitely a good skin and it really is all truly subjective. I wouldn’t want to begin on this skin specific due to the thickness but my neighbor may feel differently.

I find the textured side has “pores” and gets filled up by the ink and are impossible to clean out it was a nightmare the first time so I only go smooth side

I have that super thin one and they definitely Come with way more for the price over others.. but I feel like they hit to close to whatever u are tatting on and the needle gives off more vibration... but like u said from your mind not wanting to do so. Get more use to not going overly deep

Overall I do like using the reelskin practice skins. I think for me personally I am a fan more of the Yuelong Tattoo Skins simply because depth is a big deal to me but knowing that reelskin makes different depths is great. I am going to try some more out in the future.

i noticed too on reelskin 2th pass will slice up the skin like a knife, also when wiping the ink tend to get in the so called pores, so its kinda hard to clean and it wasnt easy to get saturated lines compared to the chinese skins, i havent tried the smooth side though.

That’s exactly what I noticed as well when I was tattooing the skin. For me the skin was good but a bit too soft and the side with the pores was not my favorite to tattoo. All in all I feel they are pretty decent skins. The smooth side isn’t much too different as well.

I use watered down washing up liquid on the skin and it does not smudge any ink and it wipes right off for me

I use my toec printer to make my stencils. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/roaxe6Khfs6Ui9k I like reelskin, it’s a great skin to use. I also like the Yuelongs. If I put depth aside and look at the material as something to tattoo I would feel good picking up some reelskins to build another portfolio.

Some time on the real skin. When you prep it with vasoline, it tends to make it almost too soft

From my experience I have used a few such as Reelskin, Yuelong Fake Skins, Frankenskins (Have not tried them yet, waiting for stencils to dry). I personally like the Yuelong tattooing skins for practice as the techniques and applications learned with these fake skins help soo much upon tattooing humans. I also highly recommend Reelskin! Do you know if Reel skin is latex? One of the bummers of practice skin and being allergic to latex is never knowing if they’re silicone or latex LOL. Great video btw!!

I personally don’t know what the reelskins are made of and I would not want to just say whatever I think as allergic reactions can be serious. What I would highly recommend is to email reelskin and let them know the issue at hand so they can further assist you with accurate information for this specific question. I will also reach out to them to see if I am able to obtain any information on this. Should I come up with anything I will let you know.

I’ve reached out to Reelskin and asked them if their skins contain latex and this was their response “Ahh i see, it is latex free, so doesn't contain latex, its silicone based” So to my understanding there is no latex in Reelskins fake skin.

Did you feel like your tattoo came out better on these skins rather than the yuelongs, I use really thin skins (also really cheap rubber ones) and they're not great (good for depth that's about it) I'm looking to get the next level up but I'm now wondering should I jump that level and head straight for reelskin?

That’s a great question! For me personally I would much rather develop my skillsets and tattooing habits on a thinner skin versus a thicker skin but that’s just me. That’s subjective. I think having a combination of both would probably be ideally the best way to go for anyone. I am going to use reelskin for 1 of my portfolios.

@@lukedorrington7455 yea that’s just my approach. I would hate to use a thick skin 24/7 and build possible bad habits. I just feel that the thin skins are a better approach but everyone is going to feel differently about that.

My opinion is that it should be tattooed on the right surface which is the rough side. Most beginners would copy it and think it is the right way to do it. 😊

That stencil was all your fault bro 😂. Use a lint roller to remove excess ink on stencil , or lighten the ink on the printer .
