Exponential is a type of graph that basically grows really quickly. It normally multiplies it’s y values after moving once in the x-axis

Yeah, it's kind of what he said. Exponential means growing at an increased rate of an exponent (exponent is the small number above a number). It is where we use repeated multiplication (in the form of an exponent) on an initial value to get the output. So the ramping up you're experiencing is because the initial value is being multiplied repeatedly. You can increase the rate of change, or the acceleration, which will make it ramp up faster.

I think linear is the best one of the three because it’s the most consistent. For example When you put you joystick at 50% the sens is also at 50% with linear but with exponential it at like 60% or more and with dual an even weirder number. So ur controller feels more sort of natural in linear Also with the horizontal an vertical sens I think it better to have it exactly the same so when u want to aim diagonally u need to aim your joystick diagonally too, it feels wayy more natural

Dang, you really went into a lot of detail with your tests; good video. Personally what I found that worked for me was a high sensitivity with linear ramp, 0 aim-smoothing, and a medium aim-ease-in settings. It feels like a dual-zone set up with aim-ease-in sort of creating an artificial "zone 1" that I have more control over. Also in terms of exponential vs linear, it can help to think of it in math terms: With "x" being how much you push into the stick and "y" being how much your character moves linear -> y=x or y=2x (idk what the actual constant scalar value is) exponential -> y=x^2 or y=x^1.5 (again, idk what the actual scalar value is)

Exponential basically means the number or variable is multiplying by more than it was before, but still remaining in a pattern. For example, let’s say every second you push the analog stick, it makes a car move 2 feet per second. No matter how much you push it, it goes two feet per second, that’s linear. Let’s say every time you push a button, the car goes 110% of the total distance traveled. So first it goes two feet, then 2.2 feet, then (total distance x 1.1), etc. since it’s going up even more each time, that means it goes up exponentially. So in those case with controllers, it means that the speed goes up even more than it did before by moving the stick the same amount. I hope this kind of helped. I enjoyed the video. 😌

As a former Apex player with little to no idea what these aim type discussions are I have fallen in love with Genji's aggressive and fast paced game play, but unfortunately Genji is a hero that needs to be looking around to an excessive degree and currently my aim settings aren't fulfilling their duties. If you would, please make a video for genji settings with numbers that allow us to turn ariund quick and accurately. I am also happy to hear what anyone else suggests so please do leave a comment. Your english is certainly not perfect but you speaker better than my East African father and the accent adds a bit of distinction to your content that myself and your subscribers surely appreciate :) keep up the work I love your vids!

Thanks, Genji is a hard hero for me overall, but I found using dualzone with high sensitivity can help to have accurate aim at low speeds and being able to return quickly on the second zone.

Just one thing. Aim ease in is a setting meant for Linear ramp only. Devs stated this in a video from the first game Aim smoothing is for Dual zone.

Exponential increase means that the rate of change also increases and doesn't stay as a constant. Y=X would be a linear increase whereas Y=X^2 would be an Exponential increase.

In general exponential - like in the mathematical expontent or "to the power of" - describes a non-linear/non-constant, but changing relation between two parameters. (in diagrams like the ones you showed this technically is always the case if you have a curved line instead of a straight one…) The easiest example is probably a driving car. If you don't move the throttle- or brakepedal, the car will always move the same amount of meters per second (linear). But if you throttle up, it will cover more and more meteres each second (exponential increase). It's the same here: If you move the stick twice as far, an your view moves double the distance (or rather angle) per second, this is linear. Expontential means that your turnspeed increases harder the more you displace your stick. In theory, those settings exist to have both accurate microadjustment as well as fast turn rate… The generall opinion about this (btw also regarding mouse sense) is that its easier to get used to constant/linear realtionships, which is why most people will recommend or like linear over exponential. Imho, it's just personal preference. On PC, I always liked a customized mouseacceleration over linear behaviour. On PS4/5, I'll still have to figure it out, which is why I'm watching this vid ;)

Actually, it's not precisely deadzone, it has 2 functions: 1- Making the slower amount of aim slower and adding a more relaxed curve for pushing the stick 2- the reason 1 causes the deadzone to increase! Awesome video. I made my advanced overwatch settings back in ow1 and completely forgot what they mean. Funny enough, linear is the only one where I can actually aim. The aim smoothing explanation was great. Was wondering why it is best to leave aim assist ease in at 50% and regular aim ease alot lower?

Because for me it feels like exponential ramp graph should curve it another side, as in it gets faster and faster, but from the graph it seems like it gets sudden boost at the start and then it eases off at the end 🤔

Aim ease in is NOT for deadzone. For some reason people keep conflating aim ease in with the indirect effect of your deadzone increasing. It just lessens the initial gradient on the graph

Exponential basically means that the increase get more and more noticeable the farther in you are. So in an example with speed: Let’s say you take 1 minute to walk 20 meters, but tithe next 20 metered you’re able to walk within 45 seconds. The following 20 meters you’ll be able to clear in 15 seconds. In this example you’re able to see how your speed of progress (your rate of movememt) has increased “exponentially” (it gets faster and faster) within each segment

Linear ramp overall, I recommend exponential Ramp, dual-zone is suitable for mid to long range for small movements. IMO.

Hi, Yes you can, and yes remembering them are hard, if you're on steam, and using steam configuration, go to game settings, in controller section see if you have controller selection or something else like that. It's not in all games, but some games has it and maybe this one too, for example splitgate game has it in accessibility settings to change to playstation controller icons, I haven't downloaded the game on PC yet so I'm not sure if it supports it

Hi, if you're using Dualzone, it's slow, for Linear Ramp it's much faster, I'm using about 40-50 now with Linear Ramp and ease in on 30. 0 aim smoothing. this video is too old though my settings have completely changed.

Hi, in this game, either by making Sensitivity too high or using dual zone. in call of duty, you can do that by ADS multiplier to separate aim and camera speed but not here, however I'm working on it for a new video how to get the same aim as cod in overwatch. @@DanielZH I play with 100 Horizontal and 100 vertical and 0 aim smoothing on dual zone but I still feel slow with Genji so I found that you can modify your controller with a pc program and still being able to play with your Ps5 via remote play, I tried to "Increase" that sensitivity limit with a pc program called "Rewasd" and I was able to use that modified controller using remote play but I couldn't figure it out so Im still looking for a pc program that can Increase the limit of speed on your joystick so u can turn super fast your camera thats what I need

@@Seoul11_1 I see right, haha, Keep in mind, using controller on remote play, will add so much input delay! and you really don't want that for this game, I recommend to go to max sensitivity in game but don't use PC remote play.

Hey, I',m curious if you can replicate the Dynamic aim response curve from MW2 to overwatch 2, from what I understand exponential ramp is the closest thing to it yet when I use that it stills feels different
