I'm completely fine with fans supporting and cheering for their favourite players. Kyrgios is one of those players who naturally attracts a lot of attention and hype because of his trick-shots, sense of humor and on-court persona, and there's nothing wrong with that. Whether you like Kyrgios or not, he's an exciting player to watch. What I DO have a problem with is when the crowd boos, taunts or jeers at a player simply BECAUSE they're opposing your favourite. That's never OK, it's utterly classless, and it's particularly unwelcoming and discouraging to the countless hard-working, talented tennis stars from all over the world who come all the way over to our country and provide us with great tennis entertainment every year. Medvedev is a true class act with high-tier tennis skills truly worthy of the world #2 rank (and quite possibly #1 if he wins this season's Grand Slam), and he deserves so much more respect than what he got from that crowd. Kyrgios is a great player too, but he lacks the level of tennis skill and technique that Medvedev, Nadal, Federer, Djokovic and other higher-ranked male players have. Not to mention he makes a lot of silly mistakes in his matches which costs him points, and sometimes set points. Medvedev handled that crowd in a classy and professional way which is very admirable considering the level of nastiness he had to put up with, and in the midst of all that, he was able to compose himself well enough to win the match when it looked like Kyrgios was gaining an edge on him. Any player who conducts their self this way under that much pressure is well deserving of a championship title.
