The training is much tougher, but ultimately you are treated as a useful member of the team.

Yes, getting in the frogmen core takes a lot of training to be able to complete their entrance course and to succeed in the main course. But, one thing is even more important and that is the aspirants mindset. Can they keep going even though they are tired, hungry, wet and stressed. It is much harder to train someone to have that mindset, than it is to train somebody to run 15k. Frogs are one branch of Danish SFs, the other being the hunters or jægere. They have a very different recruitment structure, where anyone can apply to become a frogman, only trained soldiers are picked for the hunter recruitment. They tried a similar setup to the frogmen, but found it took too much work to get them through the basics, PE, weapons training etc., to get them up to speed and ready to enter the course. How the Frogmen make it work, I'm not sure. The attempt was done to attract a broader skill set to the hunters, but unfortunately didn't pan out. And yes. They are the Danish equivalents to the SAS and SBS.

I think the stereotype of the aggressive Jaeger is more of a Cold War thing, that's at least what I read in memoirs, and that it changed when they switched to a more counter-terror and special operations profile in the 1990s. The old Jaeger motto also used to be "Forrest mod fjenden" (In the front towards the enemy) from their times as skirmishers and shock troops, which they changed in the same period to the current "Plus Esse Quam Simultatur" (More to be than to seem). If anything the current stereotype leans more towards the Frogmen acting like toughguys during these selection documentaries, compared to more laid back Jaegers.

@@HR2635 Just stop. It is well known within the corps. Here's the thing you need to understand. He was at the time, the future king. Every single time he had to do something, there was a risk assessment. What you do as a Frog goes way beyond this - even at a training level. Before he was sent to Kongsøre, both he, the staff up there, and and the government, had spent months preparing so that any and all changes that had to be made, was implemented in time. How do I know? My family was very close with the former hofmarschall, because my grandfather was a high ranking naval officer and personal friend of his. It was something that was talked a lot about back then internally. What they did with Pingo, and that goes for his ENTIRE military career, was to put him through several parts fo the armed forces. Naval, Airforce and Army. He went to all places. But you have to understand that he was not a career officer or career soldier in any of them. His job, and why it was done, was because at the time, not only was he generally interested in the Danish armed forces, but it was also deemed important to have a king which was in touch with how the armed forces worked. This was in part because his grandfather was quite famous for having a laid back and friendly relationship to most people who served that he came across - and this also meant that he was able to work with them and influence them if needed be. The former queen and Prince Henrik was the very opposite, and that did in fact cause some problems. Those issues was what the royal family, the government, and the armed forces were trying to solve, by making sure that the future king had some proper insight into the Danish military. Was he a good officer an soldier? He was fine, average but nothing special. My grandfather personally saw to some of his education in the navy, when he attended the Rader academy at Holmen. Let's just say that he was not first in his class, and that you sometimes get away with a bit more when you are the crown prince. Danes like the royal family a lot, we are very proud to have our monarchy and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. But it sometimes means that some things and stories get a bit of added sugar on top. Remember how long it took before it came out, that he had actually not done the real Sirius Patrol? For years it was painted as if he did. Understand that Frederik did well and he did achieve a lot. But for the sake of those who served and do serve in both the Frogs and Sirius, just take it for what it is. We have a pretty cool king, I'm a big fan actually. But as someone with some close ties to the military myself, it does bother me when people, even our king, is credited with things they should not be credited with.

My dude, if you're going to do reactions on youtube, perhaps it's worth investing in youtube premium so we don't see adds in the middle?

No.. The hunter corps is considered more elite.. Compareable to Tier 1 units like delta force and sas.. Frogmen are comparable to navy seals which is tier 2 units. Not devgru!

Keep telling yourself that.

This is simply misinformation. Frogmen are absolutely and undoubtebly a tier 1 unit. You may feel strongly about this, but that changes nothing about reality

most of special NATO special forces are equal . Danish special forces are no different from their NATO counterparts. Top of the top NATO SF is propably Delta Force ( the best equipment, training, combat experience ) . people have limits .

When the Terror Attack happened in Denmark in 2015, The Frogmen was deployed to assist the police. Its also important to note the language the instructors are using. They talk very polite, and they adress the aspirants very formelly.
