Identify and solve the distractions (boredom, anxiety) that prevent focus and productivity. Live at the "flow state" where your skills match the challenge. Develop a clear vision and identity for your ideal future. Pursue goals that are positive and shape your identity over time. Create a tangible project to work on in the first 1-2 hours each day. The project should help build your future vision. Break your project down into manageable milestones or goals that can be achieved in 1-4 hour work sessions. Your project does not need to be perfect - focus on getting a minimum viable product or vision. Build to identify improvements. Create an outline to plan your project. Add to the outline as you build. Use your project to solve problems and continually learn through struggle, not just memorization. Teach others as you build. Dedicate a clear space and time each day to anchor your focus on productive work, away from negative thoughts.

I’m half way through your book Dan. It’s brilliant and I can’t believe how much of this has dropped experientially for me the past 12 months. Especially the “zooming out”. I can SEE so much more! I know when I need to zoom out in order to know what to zoom in on. I came off social media last year and it’s incredible how much my focus has sharpened for my Deep Work. I’ve stopped consuming completely, apart from the odd newsletter from peeps like you and Tim Denning. My awareness has heightened and I have so much time. I am curious about these subjects when it comes to the masculine and feminine energies. PS You look very handsome, hair or no hair.

Implementing the 2-4 hours a day has been the hardest with two creative projects that I love spending time on with Embassy Life in DC and my KZbin channel, but at the end of the day, anything past that and I do notice a massive drop in quality and productivity. I can speak from personal experience with Embassy Life in DC, it took me a year of focused work to build up a reputation here in the DC area, and now I am in a completely different place with brands reaching out to me and vice versa. Am I rich? No Am I a millionaire? No Am I free from my 9-5? No The point is this: it take time to build your "vision" of the future and for a naturally impatient person like me, it is utter hell. But there is no other choice. Cheers, Dan!

Dan, I've gotten into your coaching through your book. Focus is what I see and receive when I see, read or hear you. Almost effortlessly. Having more or less double your age and sharing Krishnamurti's views, amongst others, on my spiritual path, I am amazed by your use of the word. It seems that your spirituality is very productive on the individual plane. This is as attractive as it seems limited to me. Attractive because you really give goal and sense to the ego, limited because it seems to end there. Maybe this is just me, but I wonder if -hope that?- you find the time, space and interest to question and go beyond what you're undoubtedly very good at: giving sense to the ego. I have no idea if you read your comments, but thanks for all you're sharing. I wish you all the best.

Awesome work Dan. Got the book on Audible. I had beautiful hair (so my mother said). 16 yrs ago my dad got glioblastoma and lost his stately silver hair from chemo. At that point I shaved my already thinning locks and embraced liberation from hair. It was a vanity that slowed me down. As men, you know we are defined by many things. Hair is not one that is critical. Wisdom flows from the heart as does the value we bring to the world. Rock on and embrace the baldness. Turn entropy into renaissance. 💪🏽💪🏽

Thanks for the vids Dan. One of my biggest concerns listening to these vids is that, I believe, not many people actually KNOW, what they want to do. It is the issue with all the motivational teachings.. “Follow your heart… Start a project… etc” but what if you have no idea what truly makes your heart sing, in your 20s… 30s… 50s, people are still looking for the purpose ‘from within’. I don’t think this is a problem that can be intellectually solved either. Please, Connect with those millions that are lost not because they are not organized or lack problem solving skill or missing the will to change, but those, who are simply stuck figuring out what is their passion! Respect.. 🤞🏻

Dan, hi! This might be my first-ever comment on KZbin. I want to thank you for all the wisdom you share with us. I've always wondered why so many influencers talk about working hard for 80 hours with no rest, promoting a way of life that leads to anxiety, burnout, and depression. And then, when should we actually live? Thank you for highlighting such an important issue. Many people believe that more hard work and more time equals more progress, and they end up destroying their lives, relationships, and health. Your videos have helped me a lot to pull myself out of lostness and inaction and to form a perfect vision of my dream life. What's more important is that they've inspired me to take action. Each of your videos is like a step-by-step tutorial. I'm even taking notes from each video in my diary and revisiting them to clarify some details. Thank you for your tremendous efforts and time, you're doing an amazing job! “You need to work not 12 hours a day, but with your head.” - Steve Jobs

First of all, awesome for your first comment! The hustle culture is something that has been glorified as with entrepreneurship in general over the past couple of years. These influencers make a buck off of stating that you need to work yourself to the grave, but then sell a course to teach you to work faster. In any case, you're not a robot mate, you're a human being with dreams you want to achieve. It'll take years before you make it, but with consistent effort, you will. Cheers!

It is not that of yet another influencer/entrepreneur who pretends to have everything in his life figured out and speaks to and treats his audience like some kind of cult followers. You seem to be a person of high intellect who has given some truly deep thought on many ideas and concepts and yet you remain humble. I believe you truly care in helping others unlocking their potential and you come off talking to us as talking to a friend rather than to a subscriber. I wish you all the best in your life and to continue being a voice of meaningful inspiration, practicality and productive optimism. P. S. I think you look good with the shaved hair. I'm 24 my hair slowly started receding a couple year ago and now it's being quite visible. I've decided to and did go bald a week ago. Even though bald cut is something I've always appreciated, I felt terrible at first (even my friends told me it wasn't my greatest look) However in just 7 days actually I'm really finding myself much more attractive (to me). Furthermore I do feel much more confident (not from the perspective of attractiveness, but as a leader of my own self, having the ability to get on top of myself and face situations like this in a so stoic way). It's like I've crossed a boundary (that at first didn't seem to be much one of a kind. It's like a woman who doesn't want to have kids, won't necessarily accept being told that she is infertile with the greatest smile) I really get that it helps somehow to get more focus at my interior self which is double win (handsome outside and fostering the inside beauty even more) Sorry for my English. I'm not a native speaker. But it's starting to come.

"If the outcome of your desire is good, then desire isn't bad" is a somewhat valid point. The reason that desire that is usually labeled as bad is that desire actually keeps you in a loop-frame type of life. For example: You desire the new Apple Vision Pro (or rather the status it provides), therefore you need money, therefore you keep doing your 9-5. Once you reach that desire, another one has already entered the mind and that's how desire (which is based on past experiences - therefore time[where the loop comes from]) keeps us going in a circle, not really facing the present moment.

That's why sometimes there is a saying that work smarter than working harder is better (working are is true but it really depends on what type of work you're doing ),

The Flow state is absolutely a feeling you're doing something right. It's a feeling of "rightness". You know it's correct when you feel it, but it's impossible to precisely explain why.

Growth really doesn’t happen without stepping outside your comfort zone, you know? It’s like we’re all just stuck until we push ourselves a little further. Honestly, you’re your own biggest obstacle, but also your greatest strength. Once you realize that, it’s like everything changes.

The concept of the 4-hour workday is really intriguing. To amplify this, entrepreneurs should explore the Pareto Principle, focusing 80% of their efforts on the 20% of tasks that yield the most results. It's about working smarter, not harder, to truly enjoy that lifestyle design.

I'm really glad you mentioned that some creators *like* to work long hours because we see it as play. It's definitely not the only way, as you've shared (as have many others), but with the pushback against hustle culture, a new one has surfaced -- one where people want to find the one hack that'll change everything for them and learn all the "secrets" or shortcuts (there aren't any; save your money) to avoid putting in the work. Being on either side of the extreme isn't healthy. (Even people like me who genuinely LOVE writing and creating need breaks for our well-being.) It's something I don't hear a lot of people talk about, and I've found a lot of shame messaging around those of us who see our brand as playful work.

Comments might be your best ever. Thanks for mentioning the hair thing. Something that takes up our mental RAM everyday. I think truly enlightened people stop caring, and finding that freedom is challenging. Also love the ideas around work here, thanks!
