xD card? They're pretty much just a NAND chip on that flash card package and that's it (that means, no controller. The device can deal with it), just like the wide-ass but super thin SmartMedia cards he showed on the nuggets. Easy as heck to destroy and degrade with use.

So probably a victim of timing, and despite the MTV involvement, lack of marketing.

man, thats a smart media card. back in the day, over 20 years ago, i was super excited to get a cybiko. it was a strange little late 90s early 2000s teenagey pda thing. it was both cool and garbage. but it came with a deal, you clip out the upc, and print out a page and mail it off, and you get a free mp3 player attachment. it took 4 months for them to send it to me, and when i got it, i had to go to office depot and find the correct fitting memory card (out of so many types back in the day) which was one of those thin smart media cards. it worked, and i played mp3s i got off napster. and then i got an ipod and cell phone and that was the end of that.

Because of this channel, I went and bought a used 7th generation 160 gb ipod classic and I can’t wait to use it. I never had the classic, but my first ipod was the ipod touch 32gb version that I bought as a kid with my own allowance saved up. I got the classic because my mom used to have it and my sisters and I had to share it between us (and mom of course). Unfortunately it got stolen at a gym, but it was a damn good device. they could’ve also ran out of the normal packaging and reused the MTV one due to having leftovers of that. that would also explain why the manual was missing from the second one. they could’ve also ran out of manuals

Oh dang that's the Creative Nomad I had in 2000! My first MP3 player, it was down to either that or the original Rio and I went with the Nomad because of how sleek it was with that metal body. Loved that thing, the dock for it used a parallel port cable! I think there was a USB on it but it didn't come with a USB cable. I had to choose between keeping my ancient printer plugged in or that dock, and if I wanted to switch I had to pull the computer out of the desk and unscrew one cable and screw the other one in. Absolute idiot device, worth every penny.

I bought some cheap last year. They're shit. The EQ is either "muffled" or "muffled and overboosted bass". Buy anything else. In fact, save money and get something good like some KBEars KS2.

I have an old iRiver MP3 player that needed special software to load music. Fortunately a later firmware upgrade allowed you to just drag and drop like it's a thumb drive.
