I was wondering why watching this kept triggering vague childhood memories and then I realized most of the voice actors voiced a lot of major characters from my childhood. Yes, wherever you looked in Ratatouille you saw Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, etc. They put in an effort to establish the setting, a city famous for its haute cuisine. This travesty didn't even try to remind you of Rio outside of the opening shot, which was pretty lame and did not do the city justice at all.
