Cars like this really show that you don't need masses of power for a properly quick car. 200hp in a well set up medium - light car is a great combo. A series of these would be cool, a bit more expensive than MR2s but still awesome

I own a GT86 and its the best car ive had. People say they have no power but i think it has enough (any less and i would agree). It puts a smile on my face everytime i drive it like no other car could for the money. Great to see it getting some appriciation!

I've had an 86 for five years now, best car I've ever owned (incl a 911 bought new), and as you say enjoyabe every trip, fast or slow. Unexpectedly good on Continental touring despite the noise - the rest of the car is so easy and relaxing.

Wow what an incredible coincidence! I was just thinking to myself "What Would It Be Like To Drive A Toyota GT86 Race Car?" And lo and behold the incredible social platform KZbin™ recommends this beautifully informed video to me! I am going to show this to all of my friends! Thank you DannyDC2!

Hi Danny, I’m from Australia and the 86 racing series over here is some of the best racing in the country , especially around Bathurst . The only problem is that they don’t have a lot of rounds, I think only 6 a year. I couldn’t give a shit about Supercars , I mainly go to watch the 86’s as they are one of the support categories. Love your channel and I miss the cow’s already.

Thanks for showing me what its like to drive a Toyota GT86 Race car. The cheaper these get the more people will pick them up and love them with less concern at the lack of power I think. FR is gods own car design and these would be perfect for a race series.

Great video Danny. I do lots of Time Attack track events in my 86 and yes 4th gear can be a bit hard to find sometimes. I think it's down to the soft OEM transmission bushes causing the gearbox to move/misalign with higher cornering forces, as when I fitted some poly inserts it noticeably helped the problem (but not fully fix it). The gearbox is quite notchy in general actually, it doesn't like to be rushed or smashed into gear fast n furious style.

Just went and checked out some of the Oz GT86 racing and it’s MEGA! Cars look good too. Question is how many more patreons do you need for a GT86 Dan?

It’s proper good. Yeah it would deffo cost a bit more wouldn’t it. Every little helps

Quite torn.. Came to the channel waaaay back for k swapped mk3 mr2. the mr2 champ stuff is great and loved that you chose this to start your racing. you mentioned you liked how the mk2 drove on track but mk2 prices have shot up and if your're spending that much might as well get a modern race car that handles better.. hmm I'd love to see you in another '2 of some sort but good luck racing, whatever takes your fancy

This racing stuff could be about to get even more expensive for Dan, would be good to watch mind 👌🏻

86 and Brz are Great!!! But when you open the bonnet there's clearly space where the Turbo was ment to go!!! But with the New Supra coming out I believe the didn't want the 86 and BRZ to streal the thunder 🤔 with a turbo and about 300bhp they would for sure!!
@dannyDC22 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure that’s how they thought , the new one with the 2.4 is proof of that maybe. Those who built this had a supercharged one for a while, was meant to be a riot

in America they just announced the GR86 Cup, sequential gearbox, pretty cool bodykit and other race parts, 12,000 per race if you win (supposedly over a million in total prizes)... interested in this vid.

Came to chime in 4th gear issue... Its quite common issue in brz,gt86 and even awd version of sti 6speed gearbox... No matter what the fluid bottle description says... Just use "Redline Shockproof Lightweight" gearbox fluid in these for competition usage (or even trackdays/drift car) Your 4th gear synchro will thanks me later... Oh well..u probably need them in your mr2 gearbox as well

GT86 would be a good step up from mr2 but I bet it costs a heck of a lot more. The car alone is more and then you've got that annoying torque dip with the early cars.

Danny, how would you compare it to your ex-K20 MR2? What about the outright speed, cornering and what about the fun factor? Let us know!
