So now it's a perfect time to react to Gojira's another masterpiece Flying Whales. My recommendation is to hear live at Red Rocks version. The venue, the atmosphere is magnificent, futhermore you can see how each of the members is into the show. You've already witnessed it but it's never too much. Love the reaction, cheers 🤘

well those french boys , Gojira, is just one of the best metal bands of the last 20 years ..they started in 96 as a more Death Metal Band ,meaning their early albums are even heavier ( "the heaviest matter of the universe "is the perfect demonstration of that ) but still with their identity and as they got older through the years they pushed more and more that atmospheric feel and got softer but still amazing ,the don't shredd or anything , they always have this minimalist approach and repetition in their riffs but it's well put together , they are amazing live ..they sound even better live .one of the best live metal band ever , they care a lot about the environmenent and their lyrics always have a deep meaning not to mention Mario Duplantier the drummer is regarded as one of the best metal drummer of the world so yeah you might like it . Some songs from 1996 to now , i recommend to check their live versions as well as often ,it sounds better ( well at least , the song of their first two album between 2001 and 2003 ), because they didn't have a lot of budget at the time ) The heaviest matter of the universe ( of course ) 2005- studio version or live at the vieilles charues in 2010 or in poland in 2019 or from that same concert at brixton ..but the video might not be available ,it depends of the country Clone ( very death metal ) 2001 ( live at vieilles charrues ) Love 2001 ( live in poland 2019 or rio ) Remembrance ( live from the link alive ) 2003 Space Time ( live from the link alive ) 2003 Flying Whales 2005 ( live at brixton ) BackBone 2005 ( live at brixton ) From the Sky 2005 Oroborus 2005 ( live at les eurockeennes ) Toxica Garbage island 2008 The art of Dying 2008 ( live at vieilles charues ) Esoteric Surgery 2008 wisdom comes ( live at brixton ) a sight to behold Vacuity 2008 L'enfant sauvage 2012 where dragons dwell ( live at hellfest ) Mouth Of Khala 2012 Explosia 2012 stranded 2016 Pray ( live at red rock ) 2016 Low Lands ( for the the passing of their mother ) and many others .

I've been discovering Gojira during the quarantine too and to sum it up, any song they did during their poland concert in 2018 is absolutely crazy. I feel like as far as singing goes, Joe's voice has gotten more colour in the recent years and it makes the live performances that much more enjoyable. I still think that Silvera is the song that represents Gojira the best, as in all of their aspects condensed in a 4min song.

I just want to reinforce what other commenters have said.. their discography is incredible, and yes, they’re refreshing! That’s a great way to put it. And I’ll say - they get better and better as you listen to them. Check out Wolf Down the Earth (there’s no official video). And check out lyrics, even if it’s after the reaction on your own time. What separates Gojira is the intelligence and passion enmeshed in their music. Enjoy your journey!

@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 Yeah, may be, but believe me it is worth the listening. The version is a bit different from the album (almost twice as long) and really full of soul and impressive. The album was released after the Duplantier brothers' mother passed away. You can feel it in the song. Almost like a sacred mass. But I can understand what you're saying about the sound being a little off ... I can hear that after your comment.

I'm so new to Gojira. So far my faves of theirs are Yama's Messengers In the Wilderness Try those out!!! So much to recommend for this band, discovered them 4 years ago, and still loving this band, together with Tool my favourite metal bands. Gojira started out as Godzilla, they started at very heavy, but it’s oh so good, and changed their name in 2001 to Gojira, the japanese version. I would stay in this era of Gojira. So i suggest you to have a look at The Art of Dying - Live at Vieilles Charrues and Oroborus - Live at Eurockéens concert, and than gradually go to some older, heavier Gojira. Both these concert performances are outstanding. Cheers
