Always heard of Dante's Inferno, but had no Idea it was that great of a book. Unbelievably well written and a true masterpiece.

A Masterpiece in every sense of the word. To be honest this is just a re-enactment, the translation of the poets words are rather poor.

Didn't this reading leave out a bolgia? The sodomites? I'm gay and would just as well not hear that one. But I didn't hear it. I also don't agree with the idea that that would be what we deserved. I read the first two books for a class in literature in college but this is so much more vivid than the dry discussion in that class. Yet C. Redgrave leaves out many details actually. I don't speak Italian but can pronounce it to some extent. It's hard going but very pretty. A guy I used to know who spoke Italian told me that even Puccini's music accompanies librettos that are very old fashioned Italian.. Puccini worked in the early 20th century The DC must be something like Shakespearian language compared to modern English? I would so like to be able to appreciate that. At 72 I don't think I will have enough time. Dante's Hell is absolutely terrifying.
