Wow Dan I can’t believe it’s been 15 years already of your KZbin channel. I go way back to the DanTorp days. In fact, yours was one of the very first channels I watched on KZbin because we share the same love of aviation. I was wondering when you were going to tell your story and I think it’s very fitting for your 15th year. I think the idea of giving back is a testament to the beautiful person you are and despite not being together, your parents did a great job of bringing you up. The world truly needs more people like you. Cheers to the next 15 years ❤✈️🥂

As an 80s' child, I discovered your channel back in the day because I love FSX and I wanted to have a realistic experience, so after each landing, I played myself the welcome addressees "welcome this and that city" mainly from your videos. The flightsim was my getaway from the struggles I had with my Spanish studies at the uni. My aim was ultimately to become a pilot abroad, but you have demonstrated on KZbin over the years that there are other ways to find happiness within aviation and beyond. Grattis och tusen tack från Finland! 🤗

I LOVE THIS!!! I’m living the life of an AV geek! From a young child I’ve been aviation obsessed. Plane spotting, air shows and playing the simulators to this day! I got my PPL at 16yrs, and finished with my commercial! I’m a “hobby” pilot, but have just under 2K hours of multi-IFR, turbine. We share the passion. Although I am in a different career, I LOVE your videos and never have missed on. Your story is inspiring to both the young and old (I am😅). Keep that passion alive and your goals right in front of you, you’ll get there! 💪

Wow. I appreciate you sharing this video with us. We have similar stories about growing up in multiple places. As far as your feeling of looking up at the sky and wondering where planes are going; you knocked it right on the nose. I started my channel not too long ago and I have no intentions of making a career out of it. The purpose is to share something that I enjoy doing and currently being in the Central US, it's the perfect place to film. We have a very diverse amount of air traffic. Again, thank you for sharing your story.

I can vouch for the fact that you are indeed the first aviation KZbinr to introduce a more personable/relatable aspect in their presentation by introducing 'you' as a person, upfront and center. If memory serves, 'DanTorp Aviation' was the handle back then ... I could be wrong - it's been many a year since and I have a few years on you (not many!) but, aviation courses through these veins of mine. It's always a pleasure to see someone succeed through passion and determination, add to that knowledge and knowhow ... a winning formulae - 1 million subscribers by years' out for sure. Many thanks for brightening up many a dull day and keep doing what you're doing 👍

I took my first flight in 1957 and was immediately hooked. I took my last flight seven years ago and have been permanently grounded-not by choice but by medical issues. I was taking two different medications manufactured in China, and BOTH turned out to be poisonous! I was lucky though. The only problem I had was I developed adult-onset Tourette Syndrome (other people developed liver cancer or kidney failure-far worse). When a flight takes off, the change in cabin pressure sets off the Tourette. I can't stop twitching and worse. It's awful, but that pretty much grounded me forever (I've seen plenty of doctors but there is no hope). Ergo, I live vicariously through you and Oskar. I did move from California to New York City, and I'm right in the LaGuardia flight path, so I do a lot plane spotting. Getting on a plane and going anywhere? Can never happen again. But I see all you KZbin videos and I love seeing you two guys together (as a gay man, that also warms my heart). So, thanks for your channel. I can't go anywhere or do anything, but I appreciate it. And next time you're in New York City, drop me an email or call. Thanks.

I relate to this so much. I also felt trapped, plus never felt like I fit in with traditional asian values. But me being lazy plus with (at the time undiagnosed) ADHD and authoritative, unsupportive, traditional parents making it worse, I did nothing about it. I force myself to fit into the traditional role but that didn't really work and sunk into deep depression. Now in my 40s I still look at flight radar at planes everyday wondering what life could have been if I just had the courage to leave. Very happy for you and big congratulations to all your success! 🥳
