It's the ONLY thing that makes "power" ballads worth listening to. Anyone can mouth the words, but only a few can bring them from their soul. It's what makes Dan SO special. EVERY song comes from his soul. Songs I couldn't stand from original artists, Dan has made into epic must have's. He's on the level with Freddie Mercury, Geddie Lee, Meatloaf (RIP), and VERY limited others for his ability to send chills down your spine, EVERY SONG.
