Mark Ryan I had the great pleasure of seeing daoiri busk at the fleadh in Ennis yesterday. 19/8/17 was incredible to see crowds walking by not knowing who he was. In my opinion this guy is in line to replace the greats we have lost. Kelly, drew,Clancy and makem to name just a few.

Well if they didn't know who he was yesterday, I guarantee it won't be too long before they do, because I 100% agree with you in that he'll be spoken about alongside Luke Kelly, Ronnie Drew, Christy Moore etc...as one of the truly great troubadors of folk music.

Oh I should have mentioned, my Dad was singing at the fleadh today I think, in the traditional Irish competition. Need to phone him later to see how he fared

Daoiri blew me and about 14,000 others away at the Cambridge Folk Festival last weekend. What a set! What a band: Robbie Walsh and Blackie o'Connell on bodhran and pipes. Makes you so proud to be an Irishman in such an audience !

You may sing or speak about Easter Week or the heroes of '98. Of the Fenian Men, who roamed the glen in victory or defeat. Their names on history's pages told, their memories will endure. Not a song was sung of our darling sons, in the Valley of Knockanure. There were Walsh, and Lyons, and the Dalton boys, they were young and in their prime. As they rambled to a lonesome spot where Black and Tans did lie. Oh Republican bold they did uphold, although outlawed on the moor. Oh and side by side they fought and they died, in the Valley of Knockanure. Well it was on a neighboring hillside they listened in calmed amaze. In every house, in every town, there kneeled a maid to pray. They're closing in around them now, with rifle fire so sure. Oh poor Dalton is down and Lyons is dead, in the Valley of Knockanure. Well they took him down beyond the fence, where the flowers were in full bloom. And they bade him kneel down upon the grass, for to face his final doom. And then poor Dalton he spoke, and his voice it broke, with passion, proud and pure; "Oh for Ireland I'll die as I face the sky", in the Valley of Knockanure. Oh and the summer sun it was setting now between the hills and the sea. and the pale pale moon it was rising now far out from Tralee town. Oh and the dismal stars and the clouds afar are all darkening more the more. And the banshee cried when her sons they died, in the Valley of Knockanure.
