She came in at 2nd place. Since then, Susan Boyle has made several albums and literally millions of dollars. She came back for the All-Stars and finally got the Golden Buzzer she so very well deserved. @@dalyt444 Well, to be fair, Diversity, the dance group that won that year, was also outrageously good. So I say they deserved to win about as much as Susan did. The fact of the matter is, that the 2009 edition of _Britain's Got Talent_ was absolutely STACKED with extraordinary talent. Aside from Diversity and Susan Boyle, another legendary act I remember distinctly from that season was Stavros Flatley. All 3 of them are amongst the most legendary and memorable acts in the entire history of BGT.

People weren’t judging her…they had initial impressions and were pleasantly surprised. The judging came after she was allowed to sing and then she got exactly what was deserved. I was skeptical when I saw it the first time too…you don’t see people that age that look, dress, and talk like her to be able to back it up and your instincts would be right 99% of the time.

Elaine Paige is iconic and has a stunning voice. She is older now.She came in 2nd but Simon signed her to a record deal. She is a lovely woman. She bought a new home and kept her little home and later gave her new home away to people or family who needed a home and moved back to her original little home. She was heavily bullied by kids in her town for years before she sang and earned a record deal. She made millions but still lives a simple life. When asked why, she said she was happy, so why change.

This performance always makes me cry not because she was so good, which she was, but because no one ever gave her a chance to showcase her talent. It's a shame that her beautiful voice was kept under wraps for decades due to judgmental people.
@sharonsmith5296

Her story is widely known. She wasn't "kept under wraps for decades due to judgmental people" She's on the Autistic Spectrum, and even when touring it was very hard for her because of that, and I believe even stopped touring because it was too hard. She went on BGT after a lifetime of caring for her mother. And to this day, while she owns a mansion, she actually lives in her same house where she always lived
@terriertz5134
@terriertz5134 Жыл бұрын
@@sharonsmith5296 Susan said she wanted to be a professional singer & that she hadn't been given the chance before the BGT audition to sing in front of an audience. Since she was 47 years old, what was she doing before that audition? She wasn't singing professionally. So isn't lack of opportunity keeping her talent "under wraps"?
@sharonsmith5296
@sharonsmith5296 Жыл бұрын
@@terriertz5134 there's nothing in her story about trying and trying to audition and being shut out. She spent her life caring for her mother, and she's autistic. When her mother passed, this opportunity presented and with the help of others she stepped up. Once there, her talent carried her through. But touring took a toll even with folks there to support her. Fame is not kind to anyone, but was especially hard on her

This video almost literally broke the internet back in 2009, everyone worldwide was talking about Susan Boyle, and everyone suddenly knew who Susan Boyle was after just this audition. She didn’t win, but she won in life, she sold millions of records and to me , she is one if the worlds greatest living singers who belong in the same level as Streisand and Celine Dion. If you don’t believe me, just listen to one of her many albums she has recorded over the years since then. I guess she went to audition at the right time, but who knows how much more music we would have from her if she was discovered in the 80’s, 90’s, or even the early 2000’s.

She auditioned 14 years earlier on the Michael barrymores show..where he tried to humiliate her by slithering along the floor and looking up her skirt while she was performing...done for cheap laughs...her mother, being hurt for her and wanting to protect her from further mockery asked her not to subject herself to further ridicule...she said it wasn't her time...well now Susan has the last laugh..Barrymores reputation in tatters and Susan singing with the biggest stars..wearing magnificent gowns, helping so many people...a deeply committed Catholic..much loved and admired...a wonderful talented human being.

No matter how many times I watch Susan at this audition, I cry. The judgement from the crowd is shocking. I watched it live and cried then too. Great performance, great moment in time. The performance is made extra spcial by her choice of song, one where the lyric is from the point of view of someone who dreamed of success and happiness but failed to achieve it, with Susan achieving success by singing it so well. Your reaction was great too. I could see your eyes shine with emotion, the same as mine do when I rewatch that video. And your thoughts on the performance were spot on.

She came in second, but she was a winner. She has albums out and a chance to travel and sing. She even got to sing with her lifelong idol - how amazing is that. I never get tired of watching that video. Never judge a book by its cover - she was amazing.

She still lives in the home she grew up in. She has sung with her idol Elaine Page multiple times. She looks very different now. She had a contest years ago looking for an unknown to song a duet with her on a Christmas song. My friend won and flew to London to record it. Also sang it with her on The Today Show. She came in 2nd place Britain's Got Talent.

She hasn't let her fame over shadow who she is or get to her head. She still not sure how to word this right but she stayed who she was before she started to record her albums. Yes she did get a bit of a make over and i think she looks good but she didn't change that much about her looks. she is still humble and never forgot wear she came from per say.

I absolutely loved your reaction. You didn't judge her and even called out those who did out in the audience. One of the reasons I love your channel and you, is that you are such a beautiful soul. Your kindness is evident in your smile and how you react. Keep being the beautiful person you are. Another mind blowing performance like this one that you should check out is another Britain's Got Talent, Anthony and Charlotte. Would love to see you react to them. God Bless.

Awe... 13 Loved Your Reaction to Susan Boyle. It's one of my all time favorite auditions Don't Judge a Book by the Cover!" Well Said! This applied to me about You. I was presently surprised at your reaction You did a Great Profile about her. I enjoyed your demeanor, your smile, your encouraging words. Great Job! I don't believe she won the year she auditioned For the Talent Show. She was close as I recall but both male judges here supported her and she produced many records preforming to many audiences. She even preformed with Elaine Page...Lol and preformed before the Pope. She's Roman Catholic. I heard that she recently had a stroke in the last 2 years and she couldn't talk

I have rewatched this over and over again, trying to listen to it for the first time again. This was an incredible event to see the first time. What a journey she had! No, she didn't win, a gymnastics troupe did, I think. But she has put out many cds and eventually learnt to handle fame. She'd been told all her life that she had suffered a brain injury at birth, and that's why she was slow..... After fame came her way, she was diagnosed with not being slow but being on the spectrum (having 'Aspergers', in the old diagnosis), which changed her life! She's an incredible singer (obviously!) and did end up singing a duet with the incredible Elaine Page, on stage. - Her dream come true.

I love the middle judge’s comments- that hearing her was a privilege, and thanking her for the wakeup call. Damn right. She shouldn’t have to ‘prove them wrong’ to deserve an open mind and respect. She was always gonna kill it, whether they expected it or not.

A wonderful reaction! Elaine Paige is a very big name in musical theatre and Susan Boyle is an equally great singer who has found great success since this show. Another very similar thing occurred a few years later in 2012 on the same show with duet Jonathan and Charlotte, check it out! Same scenario which reminds us to never judge anyone on their appearance!

Susan Boyle’s performance on _Britain's Got Talent_ was a worldwide sensation when it first aired back in 2009 and it _never_ gets old-I’ve watched it countless times. But *your reaction,* with its sweetness, openness and nonjudgmental nature, is perhaps the only thing worthy of it. This is the first video of yours I’ve ever watched but I can say you're a gem of a person, Mr Adogg! Really! 👍
