You have the voice of a wonderful storyteller. I would enjoy your videos even without any intention of making the recipes You just sound comforting like a favorite aunt or grandmother.

I came across your channel by chance last week. It simply popped up on my feed. I’m in my mid 60’s and found quite a few of your recipes bring back memories. A neighbour gave me this recipe in the late 70’s. I was shocked to see tea being used like this but I was soon converted. I also like the fact that you insist on scraping out the bowl. It’s the way I was taught in the late 60’s in Domestic Science lessons. Today’s tv chefs and cooks leave so much in the bowl it infuriates me.

Hi Denise, Lovely to hear from you. I love these old fashioned recipes as I was also young at the time they were popular.. Food has a great way of bringing back memories. I have a playlist on this channel called Childhood Memories. I wonder if you recognise any others.. 🤔 Thanks for popping over. Have a great day 👋

I also found your channel just by chance on Wednesday 3rd Oct, after a friend of mine at class brought Bara Brith for us all to try. I'm making my own tomorrow, using your recipe 😊. I will be looking at lots more of your recipes in the future 😊

I made and commented favourably on your Malt Loaf, Margaret. You recommended I also try this Bara Brith which I have now done. It makes very similarly to the malt loaf and, like it, needs to be slathered in butter when eaten to reach its optimum flavour. It is delicious. Thank you for providing the recipe and great tuition. Of the two I prefer the malt loaf as being a little more moist and having a deeper flavour, but that takes nothing away from the Bara Brith. Good job.

Hello BuddyBoy, How lovely you tried this recipe too. You are absolutely right about the butter and Kerrigold is the best if you can get it. It certainly has a different feel to the malt bread. My sister loves this one best and it rarely lasts very long in our house because of that...😊 (My other half prefers the malt loaf.) Thanks for letting me know about your bakes, I wonder what you will be trying next. I'm always open to suggestions of what to bake next. So if you have an old favourite that you'd like to see the recipe for, then do let me know... Have a good evening...👍

Can't find it on your website. Made it the other day. It does bring back memories of when I lived in Cardiff as a child. Barra Brith is great and your instructions are very easy. Only problem is it's very hard to hide up. So before you know it there's only the last slice left.
@Makethemhearragtime5 ай бұрын
I remember now, that it would all go in one sitting in Cardiff. Hence why cut and come again cake will be my next cake. It implies there's more than one slice for the cook.

You're right, it's not on my website. I really must add it as it's one of my most popular recipes! So glad you found the recipe easy to follow. We love this one and seeing your message, I'm tempted to make one again this week too. ...and yes, you certainly need to hide it well...😎

Hello Margaret, Just found your website and KZbin videos yesterday. I was looking for a Bara Brith recipe and decided to try yours. Made it this afternoon. It smells wonderful! I’ll wrap it up and let it mellow for a couple of days, which is going to be hard to do. I can’t wait to try it! Thank you for the recipe! Judith Smider Saskatchewan, Canada

Hi, It's quite a wet batter when the egg is added. It really does need the egg to make the right texture once it's cooked. Hope it came out OK and don't forget to spread the sliced loaf with slatherings of butter. Thanks for popping by...👋

Lovely! May I respectfully suggest that you use a plate instead of clingfilm to cover the bowl? The earth is suffering extreme toxicity from overuse of plastic, which is so often non-recyclable.

Yes it is very similar 😀 I have not heard of Irish T Brack, so have googled it! It looks lovely. I imagine with human migration, many bakes have crossed over boarders and been changed over time. Thanks for teaching me something new today...👍
