If something is "extreme" in this case, it's the low video compression that kills this trailer :D But more seriously. Yes, most recorded trailers and gameplays from that era (from sources like IGN and Gamespot) had very low video compression quality. The direct output image from the console connected to the TV looked much better. The main reason why this trailer sucks is the stretching of the frame aspect ratio from the default 4:3 for PS2 to the widescreen 16:9. On your channel you can find a trailer from the first part of this game - Dark Cloud from 2001 in the original 4:3 aspect ratio and has noticeably better quality.

Thanks. Despite the original 4:3 aspect ratio, still terrible video compression quality. But in fact (apart from the HD version released on PS4 in 2016) it's probably impossible to find something better.
