I was owned by La Saia in the first 2 rounds. In the first I was trying to understand how to damage her and in the 2nd I assumed you had to swap between Ruby and the rest to hurt her, but I put all the power in Toan/Goro instead of Ruby (Toan with Stamina Dring dealt like 800 hp with charge attack). I wondered why it was taking soo long to beat her (I dealt to her around 10.000 HP in total). I didn't know only Ruby shots damaged her. After that I took serious vengance. Maxing out Attack, Fire and MP of Xiao's Steve and Ruby's default weapon and a stamina drink to Ruby and La Saia got owned by the Xiao/Ruby combo without even realizing it. Her close range ice wave was useless since both allies were mid/long range warriors and she didn't have time to even make the ice ball because Xiao only needed 2 shots to break her shield and with his maxed out agility she shot like a machine gun. I beat her in a minute more or less.

Buying 15-20 fire grenades that cost 100 gold at jokers shop did the trick but I used Xiao with like 3 fire attribute to take down her shield since she had 100hp of shield I hit 15 and counted up. She automatically gets all defensed up once I hit her with Ruby but not with this fire grenade gem things.

I remember re-playing this game in 2009... holy shit. One of the biggest nostalgia rushes ever!!! Either way, I can't remember if I commented in this or not, but I don't remember how I beat La Sai in 2003 (one of the few memories of this game that didn't come flooding back on the replay) but, the 09 playing I used mainly fire gems and bombs. Did the trick. I probably used that the first time as well, I honestly can't remember, LOL.

I'm playing a second time, after years beating the game. This time, I spent hours yesterday trying to hit her, and never figured it out. I wonder how I did it the first time? Would I also read a guide, or maybe I found out by myself? I doubt it.

I use the pillars to protect myself i use only toan for this battle, well actually i used toan for the whole game sometimes ruby i find drans feather can get u around from the pillars to her really fast all you ned to do is lock off and on many times but its still worth it

Even for being one of the first games to be released for the PS2, Dark Cloud is an excellent masterpiece... Got it like 3 months after it came out and I still haven't finished it... damn Demonshaft :P (floor 76)

Huh, at 7:08 when you get given the Moon Orb he says KEVIN, but a few lines later he calls him the default name, Toan. I never noticed that since I didn't customize anyone's name, but that's kinda funny.

@busmadryan You can use a revival powder and your character will come back to life. I usually just put it in one of those three item slots at the top so if I die I'll be brought back to life automatically. I also like to put in an automatic repair powder(the green one) so if my weapon beaks it will be automatically repaired and I won't lose it.

I think I must have gotten quite lucky on this boss? I beat her in one attempt.. Though in fairness, in the dungeon I found a judgement hammer for Goro, which destroyed her shield completely.. and I was using Ruby a lot in the dungeon.

i died about 5 times with her until i came up with a strategy--use qiao to hit the ice queen's shield and then spam ruby's fire bolts at her.

What I did is: Characters: Xiao Ruby Xiao: use her slingshot to get rid of her shield. Ruby: charge up the fire type beam and fire at her. Took me several hits to bring her down. But I always hide behind the pillars to dodge the inescapable ice beams.

@onixtheone the broken dagger glitch is a glitch that will completely max out a weapon. you do it in norune village at gaffers buggy. ill send you a link showing how the glitch works and is used to your inbox.

After playing through the game and legitimately knowing what to look for, i have noticed there are a lot of Typos and grammatical errors. For instance, only in your georama menu, will Muska Lacka be called Mucka Racka.

Ohoho. I remember this boss. First time I played the game she was a nightmare. The second time I somehow did it really easily. Wish I could redo it but..my game won't let me enter queens anymore on any of my save files.

a way i dodged her ice attack, the one that homes in and freezes you, is unlocking her, then running back, and when the ice missle is near you, run around it and when you are near her, attack her shield w/ toan, same thing for ruby, but ruby should use magic spam whenever she is close enough to la saia, if the ice missle deteriorates when you are attacking her, you can loop her with ruby's magic i managed it on my first time fighting her, but it was painful trying to find out how =I

grrr... I remember i was at the last floor and i couldn't find the key to fight her =( then i read that you had to get the key in the town and so i went to go do that, but for a weird reason the file was gone!! Im so sad i have to start over, but o well it gives me a chance to be better =)

@vatervarior Well you can do that, or use Xiao and ruby and max their fire out. Then hide behind a pillar. Schoot as soon as she shot, hide, change to other character, repeat it and soon, she will fall. With you, not even having recieved damage.

I used Xiao and Ruby for this fight. I used Xiao from afar and used Ruby's attack when La Saia's shield gave out. Using the other characters was too difficult, I found.

What I used to do against her is to slash her shield open with Toan and blast her with Ruby after I got a bunch of Stamina Drinks to protect myself from getting frostbitten. I also ALWAYS stand back and out of range of her hurricane attack to pummel her to death.

That evil queen was okay. Ruby almost died but may i suggest spherebreaking, since the default weapons dont break and the fire piles up and up!

When you're frozen you can change to an ally to avoid the falling ice and then change again to the frozen character during a while. If La Saia throws you another ice block change again. When you are with an normal character La Saia throws that blue ball. If you change to a frozen character the ball will disappear. ;) Sorry if there are some mistakes but english is not my language.

The anti-freeze amulet is ineffective to La Saia ice ball attacks. I found out the hard way and got killed in two hits.

Oh, La Saia ticked me off the most out of all the bosses in this game. I ended up buying a lot of Inferno Gems, then hiding behind the pillars until it was safe to throw them. Even the first form of the Dark Genie boss fight never yeilded such frustration from me.

I used Xiao and Ruby to take her out. You have to use Ruby to break her immunity spell when her sheild is down.

or you can just amass bombs and kill her with them since it's her weakness. you can buy them from the merchant. i maxed out the 3 quick slots with bombs and she didn't last long

use stamina on Toan and on Ruby attack with fire element weapon... then attack with Toan, to remove boss shield go back a little, charage attack with Ruby... then repeat :)

its expensive yet affective bombs seem to work on higher level enemys too you just need to get a shit load of treasure and buy some from the freindly merchant in the first town

It took me about 5 times to beat her when my mom took hundreds of times. This game is one of the best RPGs on PS2 ever and I still don't get how the guy who's Saia's husband now calls Toan his name if you didn't choose that.

I'm sorta a nerd... but her hp (based on Ruby's hits) is 700hp. Makes it a tad easier to know where you are at beating her.

the hard part about this fight is actually figuring out what to do this boss is actually easy when her shield goes down get her in a corner with ruby and she cant summon her shield back up but you have to be close and dont mash the x button cause then her attack is slower it may take awhile but doing that makes it a very easy boss by the way has anybody else been able to build up a weapon after getting this far I havent.

dont you just HATE when you can't see a boss's lifebar? you could be battlig for hours, health bar running low, no more useful items to use and yet no sign of the boss dying either. if you think La Saia's hard, wait till you see the final boss

I used the same stradegy kind of lol, I used Xiao even though she was my weakest to hide behind a pillar and attack her shield within the intervals of her freeze attack, you never get frozen so you never get hurt. You'll do minimal damage unless your xiao is beast, then when the shield breaks use ruby. when its back up repeat the cycle. it was time consuming but effective xD

Goro or toan can destroy the sheild easily in two shot, if you've upgraded there weapons a little... then use ruby to attack her, it should do about 50 damage. carry alot of revival powder... this is defenantly the hardest boss.... but i like the storyline. don't you agree?

Then the video would be too long, Xiao is the only long range fighter that can hit the shield (Ruby has No Effect on shield), and I didn't level her up a weapon, so it'd take forever. This is much faster, though messier.

One of the best ways I defeated her was, using Xiao behind the pillars and kept shooting her (Of course you may have to train a while to use Xiao), then her shield will be off, and its is good to use stamina potion while using Ruby and her fire element based weapon.

I had Ruby's Platinum Ring built up to a Goddess Armlet, which basically nuked La Saia and ended her in less than one minute XD

Fire gems. Get like 30 of them, run up to her, and start tossing them. The battle won't go on longer than a minute with very little damage taken as well. Sure, that's not the 'proper' way of beating her, but.... eh, fuck that. Ha ha.

When La Saia is going to freeze you she will make the 'HO' noise. Then run behind a pillar. She can't get you then. Trust me.

just to me under 4 minutes to beat her, I used the girls up to this point ONLY and hid behind a pillar with the Queen in the distance and kept pounding her with FIRE attacks and beat her quickly! With the whole effect change the queen does, I kept switching between them, hope this move helps, CAN AVOID BEING HIT THIS WHOLE FIGHT!
