I’m very grateful that I found your videos! I just paid someone $900 to do my kitchen island and it’s TERRIBLE! They didn’t wipe the drips under it and it’s full of bubbles! He said it was actually a garage flooring coat so it’s almost like rubber feeling. I am going to try and redo it myself so I’m looking forward to learning more from you!

I have found that a 1 gallon food storage bag fits over the tray for a much easy cleanup. Beautiful board, love the finish

Great idea!!!
@mountainman44104 жыл бұрын
The bags work great for keeping the epoxy off your torch also. I flip the bag upside down and pull it over the torch tip until it punches through the plastic. Then I wrap a piece of tape oround it to hold the bag tight to the surface of the tank. When doing my clean up, I remove the bag and toss it.

Great demo for the new Platinum products! Good thing I’ll have 3 people working on my New kitchen countertops! Thanks for that important info! I may add teal or a blue accent. I’ll see what Erika & Jeff think would look good. You are amazing and I love that you explain the “Why”!

RK3 Designs thank you! I’ll be using pearl and brown. Would you recommend priming with the pearl or the brown? Base color will be pearl and brown accents (both metallic)
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
Probably pearl. That way you don’t have to make it so opaque 😊

Oh wow! Love it I’m so happy I haven’t had the money yet to do my counters. Lol!! I have the money now and I’m buying these new products. I did so my guest bathroom counters as practice. Am I able to put that top coat on it?
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
You bet. You can apply the top coat at any time.

I really like the matt finish. Is there also a semi sheen available?
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
Not as of now, I almost consider this a satin sheen and not a hard matte. It’s hard to tell in the pictures though.

Rhonda love that design and the fractures are so different looking with platinum...Love it! One question after flood coat do you have to sand before applying UTC. Wasn't sure if you did there before off camera but would be so nice if didnt have too.
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
I lightly scuff. 😊
@GinaBeana_Tootsie4 жыл бұрын
Can you use the ultimate topcoat on there regular countertop epoxy pour?? Ty for sharing
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
Not for UV protection. It’s really not like a sun screen, if the product underneath the Platinum doesn’t have UVA properties, the Platinum won’t keep it from ambering .If you’re wanting to just use the Platinum for a floodcoat for a fast cure, you could do that, but the Platinum was designed to work with the Ultimate Top Coat. 😊

Oh does different percentage of alcohol do different things?
@RK3Designs3 жыл бұрын
It’s best to use at least 91% or higher. The lower percentages have too much water and won’t give you the same effects.
@trishweekly49734 жыл бұрын
First of all, love your videos and site. You are amazing. I was playing with Ultimate top coat and wanted a smoother matte finish and sanded it after. Will that mess it up because it feels and looks great.
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, you’re very sweet. Sanding down the texture of the UTC actually compromises the scratch resistance of the product. Maybe just lightly buff. 😊
@laurienoe12334 жыл бұрын
That is awesome and thank you Rhonda for the awesome demonstration of these new products! Can you use the Ultimate Top Coat over the regular Stone Coat Countertop epoxy (not the new Platinum product)? Also, would a foam weenie roller work or just the low nap weenie rollers? Thanks!
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
You can absolutely use it over the Regular SCC. I’m actually calling former customers and applying to their countertops I installed years ago. Don’t use a foam roller, it leaves too many bubbles.
@nicolehorelka49824 жыл бұрын
Can you do this top coat for countertops already in place or does it have to be applied immediately when doing them initially?
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
You can apply the top coat at any stage. I actually applied it to an old countertop that was 2 years old and made it look brand new. 😊
@Kreative_Rainbow4 жыл бұрын
Great job demoing the surface finish! 👏👏 Beautiful finish! ❤ Would both finishes require the same type of cleaning? If you had to refinish the surface on down the line, would you be able to use the same method?
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Cleaning are caring for this new topcoat finish is the same (actually easier) if you decide later to change, you would follow the same process as before. 😊

@RK3Designs3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you’ll need to sand and reapply. Check out my latest few videos where I really focus on applying UTC with helpful hints.

Would this top coat be suitable for finishing cultured marble back splashes that are already in place? Clear epoxy sounds like it would run down the vertical surfaces whereas this top coat wouldn't.
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
Yes. You’ll just need to scuff the surface to ensure good adhesion.
@markelkhill41444 жыл бұрын
Can you use this same technique with the regular countertop epoxy?
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
You bet!
@mustafarasool12614 жыл бұрын
That looks beautiful. Had a question. Will a base coat of paint/epoxy be needed for achieving a desired color? I noticed you haven't used any for this project.
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
I used a white epoxy paint as my base color before I started my pour. You could use another color and it would change your finish a bit.
@cynthiac34843 жыл бұрын
Rhonda this gorgeous. You don’t use a respirator. What resin do you use?

No problem. Stonecoat Countertop is a very safe product. But it doesn’t meant that some people don’t have sensitivity to epoxy in general or even spray paint. If you feel more comfortable or need that extra protection, by all means grab your PPE. I do wear a mask when I work with spray paint and I’m not on camera. 😷😊

Thank you Rhonda. I have just found what I want in my bathroom. I'm not using Platinum though. Is there anything different I need to know or do when using the regular SCC for this.
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
Not really. You’ll have more open time so just be careful not to over work the material. 😊
@colleentettleton53094 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your input. I ordered my products yesterday and bought my extra supplies, so hopefully I can get my practice/sample boards done this week.

Why would use the platinum product over the regular product?
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
Not for UV protection. It’s really not like a sun screen, if the product underneath the Platinum doesn’t have UVA properties, the Platinum won’t keep it from ambering .

Love the color combo on this one Which side was the new platinum side? The shiny side or the matte side?
@mcoutu68493 жыл бұрын
Rhonda used The Platinum (the epoxy) used on the entire board. The Ultimate TopCoat matte version was applied on the one side….the other side was left as is.
@carrinmoore4 жыл бұрын
this product is very scratch resistant is that in the top coat the platinum epoxy or both,what I’m asking is if I use the top coat over regular stone coat will it be more scratch resistant than the regular stone coat top coat?
@RK3Designs4 жыл бұрын
The Platinum was designed to be used in conjunction with the Ultimate Top Coat, but you can use the topcoat over any of the epoxies from SCC. It will increase the durability on any finish.

Lady I am full of questions. I have a u shaped kitchen. If I do a striated pattern, how do I approach it when I change directions on the counter? Do I do striated pattern at a slight angle so that when I get to the bottom of the U it doesn't look weird? I hope this makes sense. I've tried to find a video or picture but so far I can't find what I'm looking for. Thanks for everything you do.😊
