***** yes it is , basically the problem with ds 2 is the "boss gimmick" all of them can be defeated by circle strafing + butt pokes , i also finished scholar of the first sin and halfway through ng+ unlike ds1 ,there's variation of enemies attacks when u don't just go through the fogwall and do the ds2 thing , and also the lore feels alot more in depth than 2 , don't get me wrong 2 is great game but 1 is alot harder and need more skill and learning from observation than 2 where i basically know how to defeat every boss :D

+jimmy russell Same. But some the bosses that I struggle with are just the earlier ones, like Purseuer. Past Lost Sinner the bosses are EZ, because I think they ran out of ideas. Not counting Ancient Dragon. Haven't fought Darklurker or done DLCs but to me all Scholar of the First Sin did was add cheap enemy placement. That's where the difficulty comes from.

DRAKEN GARD I didn't leave the Asylum until I beat the demon with the master key and fists, because the broken sword went to 0 durability and I really wanted the weapon he gave you and the master key. Everyone thought I was going to be amazing at the game after I did it, but sadly I was still garbage until I learned every monster's patterns... like everyone else. ;_;

Wow, its incredible to see a game that I loved and spent eons to finish, being torn to pieces in under an hour. I think of all that time I spent mulling over equipment, buffs and strategies only to allow me to inch closer to the next bonfire - and seeing this guy push it all aside with such blatant disregard and lack of respect is amazing. It was a totally awesome spectacle, such precision, such skills - all wrapped up with fantastic game knowledge - and dished out with eye-blink reflexes. Brilliant to watch, even though it did make me feel a bit inadequate.

I am wondering about one thing, after Nito you go all the way through Blighttown to get to Demon Ruins. Why then after defeating Quelaag don't you light the bonfire in demon ruins and only then use homeward bone? Then after Nito you'd be able to teleport straight to Demon Ruins. Am I wrong anywhere here?

Very late reply, but you have to sit at the bonfire because it's already lit, due to being a firekeeper bonfire. And it's faster to get into blighttown than to leave it by about 30 seconds.

Beat me, c'mon! btw: just kiddin : P personal record: 12.44hours , but it wasn't an attempt at speedrunnin.. i tried it just once, followin various videos i saw on youtube (i didn't use the black knight hallberd,i wanted to take it on the way to sif, instead i took the claymore on the way to hellkite bridge) and managed to beat quelaag in 22 minutes(or somethin like that, but i'm sure it wasn't more than 25), then i died and gave up : | Btw, it would've completely failed because with the claymore i spent sooo much time to kill quelaag (not so much, but definitely too much for a speedrun) update: at the moment my new record is 3 hours & 15 minutes, hope i can do better : ) a lot of time went wasted doin ornstein & smough alone, took m half an hour..

My second time to watch this run! So good. Everytime I watch one of your runs, I learn so much about the game. I find myself, just running the game in speed-run fashion and not bothering fighting so many of the enemies like I use to! So glad you got sub-60. I think you ought to give it a go again sometime now that you've got some new strats (I can think of BOC firebombs, right off the top of my head) -- with that and some good luck with the boars and the rafters, you should be at 55 or so. Worth an hour of your time, I'd imagine! I know you could do it!

Congrats on an amazing run. Instead of a novelty run with no health or bonfires, which you mentioned, or dragonbow only, which you later posted, this pure speed rts ring/halberd run focuses on a perfect goal: that of winning fastest. There is something elegant about its focus and it never feels clunky or forced in its acheivement. It is a goal that anybody could strive for but in their own way, whereas no health runs into Neto sound like some crazy dare on a drunken whim. There is fun to be had with those, for sure. But this run was tidy, elegant. Its like harlem globetrotters vs. Olympics. One a novelty, and one a serious competition.

Drake Sword doesn't scale. No matter how much you level your character, it'll always deal the same amount of damage. It's only good for the first 30% of the game. Literally all of the starting weapons are better, especially if you upgrade them all the way.

drake sword is the greatest shit ever just cuz every "tutorial guy" says "its a good starter sword" it doesnt mean that its good at all

Drake sword is garbage. Even the Astora's Straight Sword is better but even that's not good enough. Even if you spent ten dragon scales on it (not that you'd want to) it would still only have 300 attack. Nothing compared to weapons that have 500 or 600 plus attack. The biggest mistake any new player can make is to rely on the same weapon too much, especially if it's that one.
