There's a reason Darkglass is featured so often on so many channels. They make the best sounding bass gear.

Thanks a lot for this detailed review, guys. Now I've finally decided I'll get one of these bass heads. it is just too awesome. It's like having 3 Darkglass pedals in one amp. Sounds amazing. Greetings from Chile!

3:40 I can imagine Geddy Lee might have tried DG gear, since was a pioneer in blending clean and distorted tones, since this bit has some Rush flavour going on IMHO.

Josh is THE man! love his Wick - albeit the Dingwall was killer too - and that Gibson sounded great at the end. I can take or leave DG stuff - but the player makes a huge diff as well. Great vid guys.

Still torn between the DG microtubes 500 and the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500. Years ago i had a Ampeg SVT3 Pro and absolutely LOVED it, but i no longer have it, and ive been stuck in the digital realm ever since. Im looking to buy a new amp, and instead of going the SVT3 route again (mainly paying 1,250 for a head and then still a cab) i want to get something more modern and a little cheaper. I love the Aguilar Tone Hammer tone and i think its more what im looking for tonally, but the DG Microtube sounds fantastic and is super versatile, and i love the emulated cab sim output.

Recently bought a Microtubes 900 and my bandmates really like the sound of Darkglass. I too have been playing Ampeg SVT 3 for many years and gone through a few. Very happy with the versatility of the Microtubes 900.

The song at the top is “We Ride the Skies” by Lunar Satan and as far as the live song, I honestly can’t remember which song we used off the top of my head but look up King’s Revenge wherever you stream music and it should be one of the first three tracks.

This is a genuine question but do spector own warick bass or does warick bass own spector or are they 2 different brands completely. Just asking as they have some very similar looking models?
@JVMC_ZR13 жыл бұрын
Warwick and Spector are both different brands. Spector is an American brand and Warwick is a German brand. Warwick makes literally every part of their basses, although their Streamer body types does seem to rip off spector.

Apart from the Tool intro, this thing sounds like a rusty bucket getting belted with a stick. When going for something cool and clear, it sounds very muted. This is a metal-head amp.

I like darkglass its a killer brand. I have pedals from them but as an amp definitely ampeg.
@josephchamberlain36814 жыл бұрын
I may be wrong, and folks just typically play them all the same, but they definitely feel like they are a voiced amplification. I've seen some reviewers say, "It does the darkglass thing really well." If it's what you're looking for I say go for it, but I'm not sure they are necessarily the best platform to build your own voice with. I've got mixed thoughts on them I guess.
@scottm82854 жыл бұрын
I think all amps are voiced. Fender, Ampeg, Markbass, Trace, GK ... they all have their own voice. It’s just a matter of finding the voice you like and going with it. I personally love Markbass. It I can see where this would be useful. Kind of re,I do’s me how my MB sounds with my Tech 21 Sansamp. Might be a way to reduce my pedalboard ...
@nation54784 жыл бұрын
you are not alone, it’s a lot of hype. honestly DG has 100 different types of fart sounds. using them without distortion is ok, but why not just use a clean boost at that point?
@joelhojenski4377 ай бұрын
They say they don't voice the heads from everything I've read they are flat . Alowing you your own sound . But that being said alot of there stuff does have a very distinct sound. I've seen alot of videos with great clean tone as well . I'll find out soon I just picked up a dg mt 900 v2 . Looking forward to putting it through its paces.
